Cane Creek State Park, Star City, Arkansas

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

This was simply a stopover on our way to another destination, but we will be back. The scenery was beautiful. Although we are not necessarily into water sports, I can see that this would be an excellent destination campground for families, having rentals for water sports as well as biking. We camped at Cane Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

Hickory Creek Park COE, Lowell, Arkansas

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

Since my husband is handicapped, I had called to find out which site was near the restrooms. The information was not shown on the campsite map on their website. It took two calls, since I left a message on the first one which was not returned. With the second call, I was able to determine which site would be best for us. Upon arrival we had a reservation for site 32 but there was no tag showing it was reserved. I found a ranger and he told me to just take it and he would be down later with the paper, but he never showed. Other than those problems and the restrooms/showers not being as clean as desired, our three day visit was quite nice. I do wish that each site had water. We camped at Hickory Creek Park COE in a Motorhome.

Location is quite beautiful. We have stayed here in 3 different RVs and I would caution that some sites are quite close together. Otherwise,I highly recommend this park. The night sky is especially beautiful. We camped at Snow Canyon State Park in a Motorhome.

Pilar Campground, Pilar, New Mexico

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $3.00
Overall Rating:

This is one of several BLM campgrounds in this area. If you need to shower you go down the road to another one. This is an absolutely beautiful area. We were there in September and I imagine it is quite crowded during summer months. They do not take reservations. It is within easy driving distance of Taos. We camped at Pilar Campground in a Motorhome.

El Vado Lake State Park, Tierra Amarilla, New Mexico

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

If you are looking for quiet, this is the place to stay. It is a bit remote but the scenery (not much water due to continuing drought) is quite nice. This is a good choice for viewing the beautiful night skies while enjoying the campfire. We camped at El Vado Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

Shady Rest RV Park, Houston, British Columbia

Date of Stay: August, 2014 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

The only thing lacking for us is TV cable hookup. I did not even look at the laundry room so I cannot comment on that. The restrooms and showers were very clean. We were in a site near the road and there was some noise from that. The place has some really beautiful flowers and landscaping and each site has a fire pit and picnic table. We were in a shaded spot. The value for the price was very good, considering just down the road it is only $5 less at a Provincial park with no hookups, showers, or flush toilets. Don't get me wrong, we frequently stay in state and provincial parks, but I think $25 is a bit high for such places. We camped at Shady Rest RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Camp Run A Muck, Hyder, Alaska

Date of Stay: August, 2014 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

We had previously stayed here in 2011 and found it to be in a very rundown condition. When we returned this time, it was greatly improved. When speaking with the manager, she told me that for several years she had not been there due to health issues. Upon her return, she has been making significant improvements. It is still a rustic place, but so is the rest of Hyder. The location is fine for a quick drive to bear viewing and close enough to walk to most other sites in Hyder. I like the paperback book exchange which had a large selection. Although we did not use the laundry facility, I think it does need to be updated. I also do not like having to pay for showers. I would rather that be included in the price. Showers cost 3 loonies. We will stay here again. We camped at Camp Run A Muck in a Fifth Wheel.

Bayside RV Park, Valdez, Alaska

Date of Stay: July, 2014 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

We have stayed in three different campgrounds in Valdez and I like this one the best. It is under new ownership and the office people were very friendly and informative. I was especially impressed with the cleanliness of the restrooms/showers. Throughout the day, they were cleaned and there was no time that I found them lacking. This was even more impressive when you take into consideration the number of people who were staying there. We camped at Bayside RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a quiet place, with some sites on the lake and creek. We have twice stayed here and it is a convenient place to stay prior to going to or from Valdez. We camped at Squirrel Creek State Recreation Area in a Fifth Wheel.

All Seasons Campground (formerly Countryboy Campground), Ninilchik, Alaska

Date of Stay: June, 2014 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

This is a huge place that is actually a replica of a frontier town, but not much of it is open. There used to be a restaurant, bar, etc but the owner is attempting to sell and it is now simply a campground. The restrooms/showers were huge and although I did not use it, the laundry room was also quite large with huge washers and dryers. The owner and his wife are a hoot! They know just about everything about the area, especially the fishing aspect. If fishing is your thing, this is the place to be. As I said, the place is for sale, but it is still being maintained and we found it to meet our needs at a cost much less than had we stayed in Homer. If you are a Passport member, there is a good discount on the rate. We camped at All Seasons Campground (formerly Countryboy Campground) in a Fifth Wheel.

Seminole Canyon State Park, Comstock, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2012 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

The neatest thing about this park was that we had wi-fi. The restrooms were clean and the staff was friendly. There is a nice museum and group led hikes into the canyon. I enjoyed a short hike to the rim of the canyon. We would stay here again. We camped at Seminole Canyon State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed at this park for four nights and found it to be quite nice, especially cable and internet which is not always available in this remote area. The restrooms and showers were very clean. There was a meeting room and an area for TV watching. The hosts were especially friendly. We will stay here again. We camped at Maverick Ranch RV Park at Lajitas Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Lost Alaskan RV Park, Alpine, Texas

We really liked this campground. The staff was very friendly. Since we were in a Scamp 19 ft 5th wheel, we especially enjoyed the large meeting room. The weather was bad and I was able to do yoga in that room. We will stay here again. We camped at Lost Alaskan RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
