Colonia del Rey RV Park, Corpus Christi, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

Winter Texan for six years, anxiously waiting year 7. After looking at all RV parks in area (Mathis-Rockport-Aransas pass-Port Aransas-many in Corpus) We decided Colonia del Rey was best suited for our needs. We found the owners to be hands on. The office staff has seen some changes over the years; but has always been pleasant and helpful. Wi-Fi has been a problem but not for lack of trying by the owners to fix the problem. Due to the hiring of a full time lawn service the conditions of the grounds have improved. Many activities are available to everyone, including daily/weekly visitors. Crafts, bingo, game of your choice night, poker, book club, Saturday and Monday morning breakfast, Wednesday night pot luck. (Great cooks in park) Locally there is a plethora of things to do. Local theater groups doing many different plays.Outdoor movies near the harbor bridge. North shore with many places to eat and lots of things to do. The USS Lexington. Aquarium to name a couple. The T heads where you can buy the catch of the day right off the boat. A 10 minute drive from CDR and you find your self on beautiful gulf coast beaches. Great swimming , fishing, and eating. Bird watching, dolphin watching, ferry ride between Port Aransas and Aransas Pass. Never a dull moment when you choose to stay at Colonia del Rey RV park. Very pet friendly (people know your dogs name almost before they know the owner's name). There is a pet area. Very clean laundry and bathrooms. Children playground does need improvement. Brand new swimming pool for this coming fall. Thank you to the owners for the holiday activities and providing us with a good "community" in which to stay for a winter, month,a week, or a day. I have stayed in a 5th wheel and a pull behind always on a perfect size lot with plenty of space for a vehicle. We camped at Colonia del Rey RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

New Orleans West KOA, River Ridge, Louisiana

Date of Stay: April, 2012 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here the end of April. Beautiful weather. Not so for the neighborhood. A little on the sleazy side. Park clean. Sites nice and roomy. Full hookups. Tv and wifi worked fine. Owners on site. Free shuttle to New Orleans with a mini tour on the way. Left campground at 9am (and yes get on the list early). Return pickup at 5:45. You need a week to do the Big Easy properly. We definitely would stay here on a return trip to New Orleans. We camped at New Orleans West KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Colonia del Rey RV Park, Corpus Christi, Texas

Date of Stay: October, 2011 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Thank you for the opportunity to stay at this park. No place is perfect; too many people complain about too many things. This park is well managed with owners on site daily and an extremely well informed office staff. The owners and their employees are most friendly. Many activities are planned and well attended. some sites are not as large as others. The staff will work with you as much as possible to find a satisfactory site. There are some permanent residents. Mostly winter Texans who make a grand exit in April; most returning again in Oct. Clean restrooms, showers adequate, (only because of low water pressure). There is a swimming pool and hot tub. A laundry is on site. There is nearby shopping and, of course, the entrance to Padre Island is only ten minutes away. The wi-fi is slow but is being continually worked on to improve the service. There are many dogs, and yes, some people are neglectful about picking up after their pets. Very friendly winter Texans. We will be returning again this year for the experience of greeting old friends and meeting new. We camped at Colonia del Rey RV Park in a Travel Trailer.
