West View RV Park, Dolores, Colorado

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Our gravel pull-through site was very level and more than long enough for our 40 ft motor home and toad. The park is relatively new and still a work in progress (the map of the park's interior shows more rows and sites than actually exist). Small trees have been planted but are far too short to interfere with a satellite dish. Adequate Verizon signal. Adequate WiFi. Friendly and helpful staff. Cable TV has about 24 channels. We were told there is a mountaintop repeater for broadcast TV with about 70 channels available but did not try it. There is a dog park, children's playground and tennis court. Our site's rate reflects a weekly discount, daily rate is higher. We camped at West View RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There's a lot of things to see and do in the area. Mesa Verde, Hovenweep, Anasazi Cultural center, Canyons of the Ancients, Dolores River Canyon, Four Corners and more. We extended our initial stay of 1 week to 2 weeks just because of this.

Moon Valley, South Fork, Colorado

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Our pull-through site was reasonably level and long enough for our 40 ft motorhome and toad. Road turns were a little tight but I didn't leave any paint behind. Poor Verizon signal (1 bar of 1x speed). Surprisingly good wifi. No trees in our area to block our satellite. Backside of the campground is surrounded by steep rock walls and any sites close to them might have problems with their satellite dish. Friendly staff. We camped at Moon Valley in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Cash or check only. Campground is at 8400 feet. If continuing west on 160 be aware that the pass is at 10,800 feet and there is a long and steep downhill 7% grade afterwards with posted top speed of 25 MPH for vehicles > 26,000 LBS.

Deer Creek Valley RV Park, Topeka, Kansas

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Our pull-through site had a level concrete pad and was more than long enough for our 40 ft motor home and toad. There were no trees near us large enough to block our satellite dish however some of the back-in sites on the periphery might have a problem with this. Wifi was average, alternating between fast and slow download speeds. Excellent Verizon signal. Cable TV with 70+ channels. There is a swimming pool and a playground for children. The park is immaculately clean and looks brand-new. Visually it's a little stark since all the roads and campsites are very regularly placed with essentially no trees to block or break up sight lines but I really wish there were more parks like this one. We camped at Deer Creek Valley RV Park in a Motorhome.

Parnell Creek RV Park, Woodville, Alabama

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

We had a mostly level pull-through site that was just long enough for our 40 ft motorhome and toad. No trees to block our satellite dish. Adequate Verizon signal. Friendly and helpful staff. The park is clean and well maintained. Interior roads are narrow with some tight turns but I didn't leave any paint behind. Some highway noise but less than I expected considering how close we were. We camped at Parnell Creek RV Park in a Motorhome.

Checotah / Lake Eufala West KOA, Checotah, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

We had a pull-through that was slightly unlevel front-to-back and long enough for our 40 ft motor home and toad. Nearby trees did not block our satellite dish but that was the luck of the draw and probably not the case for many of the sites. Good cable TV. Good Verizon signal. Friendly and helpful staff. Park was clean and well maintained. We camped at Checotah / Lake Eufala West KOA in a Motorhome.

Riverdale Farm Campsites, Clinton, Connecticut

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

We had a back-in site that was moderately unlevel front-to-back. Nearby trees blocked our satellite dish and this is probably the case for most sites. A number of local broadcast signals were available. Good Verizon signal. Park is clean and well-maintained. About half the sites were seasonals. Friendly office staff. Interior roads were slightly narrow with a few tight turns and numerous speed bumps. We camped at Riverdale Farm Campsites in a Motorhome.

Williamsport South / Nittany Mountain KOA, New Columbia, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

We had a pull-through in the front of the park that was mildly unlevel front-to-back. The site was long enough for our 40 ft. motor home and toad. There were trees nearby but they did not block our satellite dish. Sites in the back of the park however, have many trees around that will probably block satellite dishes there. Good Verizon signal. Good cable TV. Campground was clean and well-maintained. Like many KOA's it's a bit pricey since it was just an overnight stay and we didn't use any of the amenities but it was convenient. We camped at Williamsport South / Nittany Mountain KOA in a Motorhome.

Fox Den Acres, New Stanton, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

We had a pull-through in the lower section (nearest the street) that was mostly level front-to-back and side-to-side. It was more than long enough for our 40 ft motor home and toad. There were no trees tall enough to block our satellite dish. Poor Verizon signal (1 bar, 3G) and campground wifi, although not really all that fast, was usually better than what I could get off my Verizon hotspot. Campground was clean and well-maintained. Office staff were friendly and helpful. We camped at Fox Den Acres in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Several freeways (I-70, I-76, PA-66, PA-119) all converge nearby. Add to that the fact that there is a lot of roadwork being done locally and it's easy to get turned around and head in the wrong direction. There's a supermarket in Youngwood, about 5 minutes away over back roads.

Deer Ridge Camping Resort, Richmond, Indiana

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

Campground is mostly seasonal sites but has a couple of pull-throughs for overnighters. Our pull-through site was moderately unlevel front-to-back but good side-to-side. Trees blocked our satellite dish and this is probably the case for all of the campground's sites. Fair Verizon signal. No cable TV. No broadcast TV. Campground was clean and well-maintained and the staff were friendly and helpful. Interior roads were narrow with tight turns but with some care I was able to get through without scraping the sides of our motor home. We camped at Deer Ridge Camping Resort in a Motorhome.

Okaw Valley Kampground, Brownstown, Illinois

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

Campground is a former KOA but was clean and has been well kept up. Our site was long enough for our 40 ft motor home and toad. Trees blocked our satellite dish, and this would be the case for many but not all of the sites. No cable TV. Poor Verizon signal (1 bar, usually 3G). Campground wifi was slow at best and very slow when anybody else was using it. There is a small lake on the property with pedal boat rentals. Fishing is catch and release. Friendly and helpful staff. We camped at Okaw Valley Kampground in a Motorhome.

St. Peters' 370 Lakeside Park, Saint Peters, Missouri

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

City owned park next to a small lake that is kept immaculate. Lakeside park has a bicycle/jogging trail, and a small marina with kayak and canoe rentals. Three loops each with about the same number of back-in and pull-through RV sites. Our site was more than long enough for our 40 ft motor home and toad and was very level. They've planted trees in the last year or two but they're still small and provide no shade. Good Verizon signal. Park has wifi but it's slow at best with a connection limit of 4 hours. No cable TV but plenty of over-the-air signals from St. Louis. We camped at St. Peters' 370 Lakeside Park in a Motorhome.

We had a pull through site that was level and long enough for our 40 ft motor home and toad. The site was one of a dozen set aside for overnighters. Carthage RV Campground, Carthage, Texas

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Our pull-thru site was paved, level and more than long enough for our 40 ft. motorhome and toad. Park is clean and well-maintained. Good Verizon signal. No trees tall enough to block our satellite dish. Cable TV has about two dozen channels. As other reviewers have noted hookups are towards the rear of the sites. This is fine for a trailer or 5th-wheel, but if you have a motorhome with a toad, you'll either need extensions for your hookups or you'll have to unhook your toad. We camped at Carthage RV Campground in a Motorhome.
