Front Royal RV Campground, Front Royal, Virginia

Date of Stay: June, 2011 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

We made reservations and showed up thinking " Oh how great to go through a farm to get there!" Had to stop twice for cows in the middle of the road. We got to the top gate and to find a run down, beat down old KOA campground. We thought something was odd that there were hardly anyone else there in the middle of peak season! The guy at check in was rude when we asked questions. Even the office was dirty. We told him we wanted to actually see our site before we stayed. The site we reserved was supposed to be big enough for a 35 foot, and we are 30. Well a pop up might fit, but not us. He wouldn't let us change sites even know there was only a couple other campers there. We were glad to leave! I really do hope someone cleans up this campground. It would be a total waste to let it go. We camped at Front Royal RV Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Shenandoah River State Park, Bentonville, Virginia

Date of Stay: June, 2011 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

As others stated this is a new campground. So the sites sit pretty much in the open with no shade trees. Please be aware of the VERY steep hill you have to go down to get to the campground. As for any Virginia State Parks if you have a pet, be prepared to pay extra for them! Strict policy of 5 per night per dog. The laundry house is very nice, along with the bathrooms. The showers are single showers located in the back of the building. They were dirty and had some creepy crawlers in them thru our stay. I guess this could be expected but we would like to see them cleaned a little better. The park itself is a beautiful park. The overlook is breathtaking. I would have rated this higher if they would have left some full grown trees in the campground, have a pick your own site reservation, and didn't have the pet fee. We camped at Shenandoah River State Park in a Travel Trailer.
