Goose Point Campground COE, Bassett, Virginia

Date of Stay: October, 2011 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

We have camped here many times over the years. The park is nicely situated on Philpott Lake with wonderful views, boat ramp, swimming area and lake front sites. Big Rigs need to plan ahead as only a limited number of sites can accommodate anything over 35 feet. It's important to note that many sites would accommodate them, but there is no way to back into most of them as the campground roads are very very narrow. I'm at 55ft total length and struggle to drive through the campground. To us this is not that big of a problem given the beauty of the park. We camped at Goose Point Campground COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Stone Mountain State Park, Roaring Gap, North Carolina

Date of Stay: April, 2011 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

We love this campground. It has wide roads through the campground, large well kept sites and you'll find TONS of wildlife. Getting in and out was a breeze (we are over 50 feet), relatively close to the Blue Ridge Parkway, several trout streams and TONS of hiking. During our stay we did experience a power surge that fried our TV, central vac, inverter and converter. However that was the 2nd time I've experienced a power surge. The first time was less costly. I now have a surge protector! We camped at Stone Mountain State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Cherokee / Great Smokies KOA, Cherokee, North Carolina

Date of Stay: April, 2011 - $65.00
Overall Rating:

Very friendly staff, clean park and very accessible to fishing. We enjoyed our stay however the Wi-Fi was spotty at times and the price for the site was high. If not for those two things I would give it a higher rating. We camped at Cherokee / Great Smokies KOA in a Fifth Wheel.
