Elks Lodge #1448, Caldwell, Idaho

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

This is just a gravel parking lot with only a few spots, but it was level. We had 30 amp service and good water...no sewer. We had good Verizon service and good antenna tv channels. Lots of room in the parking lot...we were sick and stayed 3 days till we felt better. Fairly quiet, just a few trains a day. Easy on and off I-84 at exit 28. We camped at Elks Lodge #1448 in a Fifth Wheel.

Yakima River RV Park, Ellensburg, Washington

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very pretty, well thought out rv park. We stayed in an area that had just been finished last week. 50 amp, decent water pressure, no sewer or dump station and I never saw a dumpster for our garbage on the way out either. As others have said, you do a self checkin, but when we arrived the owner was at the kiosk and assisted us. She is very nice, and the only thing we didn't like was when she said we were early (12:11 instead of 1 pm) and they were going to have to start charging for early arrivals. (Lots of vacancies and the telephone recording said there were plenty of spaces and to come on in, so we did....plus we left shortly after 9 instead of the 11 am checkout time.). Anyhow, we liked the way the sites were laid out so we had afternoon shade. LOTS of noisy trains day and night blowing their horns like crazy were the only thing we didn't like about this park. The pads were dirt and level and interior roads were gravel. We also got lots of channels on our antenna. Wifi showed up, but unable to be connected to. The owner said there are more improvements to come and he was constantly working in the park. Lots of new trees, so I imagine that will be nice as they mature. We camped at Yakima River RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Go into Ellensburg, a pretty, little, very neat looking town. Avoid the Texas Roadhouse Restaurant though...we went The and the service was so bad we left after we couldn't get service at our table. Others were waiting also. DO go to The Palace Cafe just a few blocks up the street. Very nice restaurant, good service and good food. When we left the park, our GPS took us down a road to the next interstate and the entrance was closed...had to backtrack 5 miles to get onto I-82eastbound.

Lake Pleasant RV Park, Bothell, Washington

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

This has been one of our favorite parks so far, and it's in a city setting northeast of Seattle. The roads were all paved and wide, one way in most areas. There is a pretty lake in the middle of the park with lots of ducks. 50 amp service, sewer, good water pressure and very nice people in the office. There were mostly pullthroughs and the park is laid out very nicely. Lots of shade and beautiful landscaping in the park. As we were leaving our site 22, maintenance was headed there to remove some dead trees. This is a well thought out park and we would definitely return here if in the area. We camped at Lake Pleasant RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We were in Seattle for a. Raise, and this park has a very convenient and secure storage lot for rvers while on cruises, and even has electricity for your refrigerator (110 volt) they only charged us $3 a day! They are raising it to $10 a day, but that's still the best deal available! There is a Safeway across the street and lots of restaurants.

Burien Elks Lodge 2143 (Members Only), Burien, Washington

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This is mainly a place to stay in a big city, and it's reasonable for a city. There are 7 backins with electric, sewer and water. It is difficult backing into the spots because the whole area around the lodge is hilly. It is very close to SeaTac Airport, planes flying overhead constantly, but it does quiet down pretty good in the middle of the night. Wifi doesn't work in the RV's but there is wifi in the building. No cable, but being in a town there are a lot of channels with the antenna. Water pressure was good. We camped at Burien Elks Lodge 2143 (Members Only) in a Fifth Wheel.

Shady Firs RV Park & Campground, Randle, Washington

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

The price wasn't actually Passport America, but it was the 4th of July and the owner gave us a $10 per night discount for each of 2 nights. We did have to pay $5 to dump though, which seemed strange. Some previous reviews said it was included and some said it was extra. The park is very pretty, but we were unable to get any direct tv satellite or channels on the antenna because of the trees. There are a few spots that it may have worked. But we wanted a pullthrough. The water pressure was great and tasted good, 50 amp service, and we were able to get aVerizon signal on our phones and iPads. The laundry was nice and reasonable, $1.50 for washer and same for dryer. The best thing about this park is the owners. They were very nice people. We would stay there again if in the area. Wish they had mowed the grass though...it was pretty long. We camped at Shady Firs RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Avoid the gas station across from the high school. Pump outside said $10 and inside said $10.85. Owner went out to see but still charged us more. Owner of campground said she also doesn't do business there. Definitely go to Mt. Ranier. We drove past the Packwood entrance and went to the next road, which was definitely better. We returned by way of Packwood and the road was horrible.

Elks Campground #1437 (Members Only), Tillamook, Oregon

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Nice park with friendly people. Pull throughs were plenty long and fairly level. Gravel sites and grass around the park, which was recently mowed. They're in the process of adding 15 more sites. The host was very nice and helpful. 30 amp service, good water and sewer, fire ring and table. They have a beautiful setting here, and it was quiet at night even though it was just a little bit off of US 101. Five miles from the park into Tillamook. Quite a bit to do in Tillamook. We went to the Blue Heron Cheese Factory and to The Fern for lunch one day. It was good, but the next day we rode the Harley to Rockaway Beach and had lunch at The Sand Dollar: excellent food and right on the beach. It was only 12-15 miles from downtown Tillamook.

Port of Newport RV Park, Newport, Oregon

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

We happened by this park by accident and when we saw the view of the big bridge, we were sold. It was more expensive than we like to pay, but it was worth it. 50 amp, excellent water pressure, asphalt almost level sites, cable tv and so-so free wifi. The location is what we paid for though, and it was pretty quiet considering we were also at a marina/rv park. We heard some foghorns early in the morning. Easy in and out on the wide roads, and the rv host was very friendly...even took us to the fish cleaning area to see people who had caught lots of fish, lots of Dungeness crabs and also some huge clams! He also suggested lunch at The Rogues brewery restaurant next to the park and it was great. If we are ever in the area we would definitely stay here again. We camped at Port of Newport RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Lakeshore RV Park, Florence, Oregon

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $17.00
Overall Rating:

A small, family-owned campground that is well cared for. There are only a few pull-throughs and ours was kind of narrow. We couldn't put our awning out, but all 3 slides fit well. 50 amp service, water, sewer, cable tv with a box from the office and good, free wifi. Laundry was $1.00 for washer and $1 for dryer and worked well. It was also quiet at night, even though it's right off US 101 (mile marker 195). I would definitely stay here again. Sites were level. Alder Acres RV Park, Coos Bay, Oregon

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

This park is in town, but was very nice and pretty quiet. Good water pressure, 50 amp service, good tasting water, sewer, good free wifi and enough channels with the tv antenna. The sites were wide and level and paved. There was a nice table and small rocks and nice landscaping at each site. Laundry was $2 and $2.25 per load and dryer was 25 cents for 10 minutes. Laundry room and exercise room were very clean and neat. Lots of long term rv's, but most in very good condition and the people were very nice and friendly. We would definitely stay here again. Go to the Dunes recreational area, a national park pass area. We rode to Charleston and also to North Bend. There is a seafood restaurant on Virginia St. in North Bend, Captains Quarters or something like that and the food was excellent! The seafood restaurant at the docks iin Charleston wasn't that good and pricey. They told us it was all local seafood except the clams, and there was only 1 shrimp and 1 oyster and 2 small pieces of fish and a few clam strips for $19. Walmart isn't too far away.

Salmon Harbor RV Resort, Smith River, California

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $19.00
Overall Rating:

This park has the very best view of any we've stayed in the last 2 months! A view of where the river and the ocean meet, and lots of seals to watch while walking on the beach. Pull throughs were up near the highway and not too noisy, easy out in the morning. 30 amp power, good water pressure, cable tv, good wifi for $2 a day. The park was nicely mowed and landscaped when we were there. It was just an overnight stay with Passport America, but if you're a senior, they will let you stay an additional night (or nights, don't know how many) for $26. Redwood Acres Fairgrounds, Eureka, California

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

Noisy at night. The fair was opening in a couple days and big trucks and trailers came in and worked during the night. We stayed 2 nights and someone had a generator running all night and into the morning. There was a huge weed in the back of our site and the site was uneven and narrow. However, I would stay here again. It was reasonable and the 30 amp and water was good. Sewer hookup, but the neighbor's sewer was located near our doorstep. We had room for our 3 slides. WIFI was great and we did get enough channels on our antenna to satisfy us. The host was very nice and made a map for us with points of interest. This really isn't what I would call a campground, but it did seem to be a safe spot to park in a city setting. We would come back. We camped at Redwood Acres Fairgrounds in a Fifth Wheel.

Visit Old Town Eureka...pretty houses. We rode to the Harley Davidson store which was only 2-3 miles from RV park. Every other weekend (I think) there is car racing at the fairgrounds which I imagine would be noisy. The fair was in town and starting the day after we leave, but still noisy setting up. Drive to Victorian Ferndale, 11 miles south...very pretty town.

Richardson Grove Campground & RV Park, Garberville, California

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

I liked this park. We stayed here years ago and it has changed ownership and looked nice. We had 30 amp service, water, sewer and a pullthrough, so I was happy. Our site was nice and long and even though there were sites on either side of us, the owner alternated rv's so you weren't close to each other. The sites were wide and had a table, grill and firepit. The park had a nice looking park for kids that was freshly mowed. The laundry was a llittle expensive, $2 for washers and $1.75 for the dryer There are 4 washers and only 1 dryer. No sink in the laundry building and not the cleanest. There is a small store in the park and you can also get propane there. There is a gas station next door with minor groceries and this park is very close to Richardson Grove State Park. The owners were very friendly and advised us where to go for meat on our way out of town. We were in site 68, but 66 or 67 would have been better because they had shade. Tips for other Campers:

We took a motorcycle ride to Shelter Cove, and it was the worst, most dangerous road we have driven on. I wouldn't have felt safe even in a car. We also stopped at RedWay Liquor Store for a burger $4.50 and fries $1.25. Very good, and friendly people, just no place to sit. Ride the Avenue of the Giants...beautiful! If you want to drive through a redwood, do the Chandelier tree south of Garberville. The Shrine Tree at Myers Flat is damaged and the tree in Klamath has fallen over.

Sleepy Hollow RV Park, Willits, California

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here primarily because it was inexpensive, but other than a safe, fairly quiet place to stay, there is nothing here. The owner is very nice, and there is a cute pond next to our site filled with friendly, quacking ducks. There was 30 amp and a pullthrough and sewer, but no tv stations on the antenna. Wifi was very poor, kept dropping us and it took a long time to get a satellite due to all the trees, but we did get it. The pond was pretty, but the frogs and ducks were loud in the night. We were parked on the highest site next to the pond, and it looked as though it hadn't been mowed or weedeated all year. Our site was also very wet and "poopy" from the ducks. I think the pond must leak because it was quite wet. It was not too bad getting in or out, but as someone else said, you have to look for the sign. Our GPS did take us right to the park. We camped at Sleepy Hollow RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

The park is very nice. 30 or 50 amp service, decent water pressure most times, free cable and WiFi, swimming pool (not heated) and lots to see and do. This is a huge complex, restaurants, stores (fruit and produce store is very expensive), gas station, and more. There is a train ride and a 2 story carousel too. Tips for other Campers:

First things first. If you're coming from the south and your GPS tells you to go on Hwy 25 "Airport Hwy"...DON'T! It's a steep, narrow, 2 lane road that takes you past Pinnacle National Park. Stay on 101.

Go to the restaurant at the four corners..can't remember the name, but their tri-tip sandwich is the most tender I've ever eaten. Also, we rode the Harley around the area and found there were a lot of fruit and produce stands with excellent prices....10 avacados for $1.00, asparagus for $1 a bunch, etc. The restaurant at the Casa de Fruta complex was pretty good. Look for the 2-story carousel...absolutely beautiful and take a train ride. Hollister was cute, but no Walmart until Gilroy.
