Philadelphia / West Chester KOA, Coatesville, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: July, 2013 - $56.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here one month, no monthly discount offered as we stayed in one of their 'best' sites (#40). Very pleased with site - level, excellent hookups and no neighbors on our 'yard' side. Interior roads and sites are grass/gravel. There are some steep hills, some potholes, but staff is working on roads. Many sites in upper area have good satellite view. Verizon voice and data reception poor. Laundry, restrooms and pool very clean. Eight miles to town of West Chester, 15 miles Walmart, 20 to COSTCO. Beautiful dog friendly nature preserve 1/2 mile. Nice dog park in KOA. Park well kept, nice views from lower sites across Brandywine Creek. NEGATIVE: All roads leading to KOA are narrow, shoulder-less, hilly, with many curves and routine 90 degree turns, difficult to maneuver 42' toy hauler. We may not return due to the difficult access roads. We camped at Philadelphia / West Chester KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Ho-Hum RV Park, Carrabelle, Florida

Date of Stay: April, 2013 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Rate reflects monthly rate, including tax for waterfront site. Sites and roads crushed shell gravel, easy to maneuver 42' toy hauler w/ F350. Site fairly level, FHU's excellent. We did not use cable or WiFi. Easy satellite set up from our site, may be difficult on interior sites due to pine trees. Consistent Verizon 3G, occasional 4G for voice and data. Dog friendly with 1/2 mile beach walk. Laundry clean w/ plenty of hot water. IGA market, ACE hardware and laundry four miles (90 cents for wash/dry/fold). Staff and campers friendly and helpful. Great place to relax, watch bay wildlife and fisherman. We plan to stay another month next year, We camped at Ho-Hum RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Fred Gannon Rocky Bayou State Park, Niceville, Florida

Date of Stay: April, 2013 - $17.00
Overall Rating:

Narrow, paved loop road; gravel sites, fairly level. Sites are large, private, and shady, most not satellite friendly. Electric and H2O hookups are fine. No sewer, but convenient dump station. Restrooms and showers are SPOTLESS, plenty of hot water. 2 washers and dryers - also spotless, but we did not use them. Verizon has consistent 3G and intermittent 4G. Very dog friendly with 3 well maintained nature trails; longest is 1 mile. Staff and hosts are knowledgeable and helpful. Walmart and grocery stores are within 3 miles. Magic Castle Laundry, excellent wash/dry/fold service @1.25/lb. Only negative: fair amount of noise due to proximity of Eglin Air Force Base; planes flying over and explosions, mostly weekday mornings. Occasional rig shaking noise, rare nighttime noise. We would stay here again. We camped at Fred Gannon Rocky Bayou State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Blackwater River State Park , Holt, Florida

Date of Stay: February, 2013 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful State Park, rangers and camp hosts very helpful. Paved roads with level fine gravel sites. FHU's are well placed and work well. We had to maneuver a bit to back a 42' toy hauler into site #26, but it was doable. We were able to find Dish network satellites after moving our portable dish onto our roof (Superbowl weekend), but all sites have beautiful pines and are not very satellite friendly. Verizon voice service was fine, data was erratic but usable. Dog friendly with usual leash and building restrictions, excellent walking paths along river and around lakes. Restrooms were extremely clean. About 10 miles to grocery and fuel. Daily trash pickup at site. Host rakes and cleans sites after each use. Minor issue: close proximity to heliport, daytime noise can be annoying. We will stay here again. We camped at Blackwater River State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Pontchartrain Landing, New Orleans, Louisiana

Date of Stay: January, 2013 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Staff knowledgeable and friendly. Escort to site, marina view site (#22) easy to back 42' 'RV and with room to park a dually truck. Site fairly level. Hookups work well and are well placed. Satellite friendly, but very good cable with over 25 channels. Excellent Verizon 4G voice and data. Roads and sites gravel, no drainage problems after one night of rain. Small well landscaped area separating sites, grass area behind rig. Very dog friendly with large fenced area and plenty of grassy walking space. Daily trash pick-up at site. Enjoyed well priced Bar B Q dinner in bar, recommend daily movie 'Hurricane on the Bayou'. Shuttle to French Quarter excellent ($5.00 PP RT). Laundry in main office/bar building very clean, laundry near Marina clean, four washers work well, but showing rust. We did not experience any sales or insurance pressure and felt safe at all times during our stay. We will definitely stay here again. We camped at Pontchartrain Landing in a Fifth Wheel.

Rate reflects weekly rate. Owners extremely friendly, helpful, and enthusiastic. We reserved an extra long super-site. Santa Nella RV Park, Santa Nella, California

Date of Stay: November, 2012 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Rate reflects Good Sam discount. Paved roads with concrete sites. Big Rigs park diagonally across 2 sites, we just fit with 42' 5th wheel. Site level. FHU work well, easy satellite view. Verizon data and voice excellent. Office staff efficient. Landscaping has apparently been well trimmed since prior reviews. We are in first row, about 500 feet from Highway 33, which is a major truck route, and quite noisy 24 hours per day. Dog walk area between site and highway: dirt and weeds. Laundry needs major renovation. We did not check restrooms. We did not have problems with neighbors or dogs and feel safe. We would stop here again for one or two nights due to 100 mile proximity to San Francisco. We camped at Santa Nella RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
