Sugar Bush Campground, Hillsdale, Michigan

Date of Stay: July, 2011 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

A very low end campground. Very old and poorly maintained rigs occupy many seasonal sites. Horses and other farm animals roam the campground freely. The sites are dirt and some are level. One pull thru site is created by combining 2 sites. Not really big rig friendly. Very religious group runs the campground and a 4th of July park campground festival was really a small religious outdoor revival that the entire campground, which is very small is exposed to. The proprietors are very nice, but be aware the campground hopes to cater to the more religious types. We camped at Sugar Bush Campground in a Motorhome.

Silver Creek Luxury RV Resort, Mears, Michigan

Date of Stay: July, 2011 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

The campground is extremely well maintained, and very clean. Insecticides are used and the bug population is minimal. The dog walk needs to be cleaned better as many guests do not pick up after themselves. There are many rules, such as not walking through others sites, nobody under 14 in the hot tub, no running around the pool or causing disturbances to others with jumping and horseplay. None of these rules are actively enforced, so if others routinely walking through your site bothers you, be forewarned. There is an extreme sense of snobbery amongst the staff and the campers. This is somewhat understandable as that is how people can be when at a higher end resort. The Wi-Fi service employs 4 servers, and sometimes works well, other times not at all. This was a huge source of irritation for my wife. AT&T cell service was generally good. The pool is very clean and well maintained. At one point, somebody had defecated in the pool, it was pointed out to the management and addressed immediately. That was pretty weird though. Unless you are into off-roading at the dunes, there really isn't much to do in the area for adults. All in all, my wife and I would not return. We camped at Silver Creek Luxury RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Sleepy Hollow State Park, Laingsburg, Michigan

Date of Stay: July, 2011 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

One of the best state parks in the MI DNR system. Well maintained and very clean. Most sites offer great privacy. The only drawback to us was that many of the electric pedestals are shared by multiple sites, and as a result, there are open areas where the sites intersect in the rear, and you may find yourself staring at other site picnic tables, tents or other views of adjoining sites that reduce privacy considerably. This is ok or even desirable if camping with other couples or family members. The beach is very clean, and the water was very inviting. We were here during a very hot spell, and even on a Saturday, the beach was not over crowded. Will definitely be returning. We camped at Sleepy Hollow State Park in a Motorhome.

Otsego Lake State Park, Gaylord, Michigan

Date of Stay: May, 2011 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

The campground is mostly dirt sites. Many of the sites are waterfront. The bathrooms and showers have been recently remodeled and use tankless water heaters. They work spotty. When the campground is busy, the showers work well. When the campground is not so busy and the showers are not used much, the hot water is almost non-existent, so be prepared for that. The surrounding area is very nice and downtown Gaylord has a bigger city feel. Very pretty campground. We camped at Otsego Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

Holly Recreation Area, Holly, Michigan

Overall Rating:

The campground is very clean and well maintained. The sites are mostly level and can accommodate larger rigs with slides. The beach/lake is across the road in another area of the rec area. All in all a very nice campground. We camped at Holly Recreation Area in a Motorhome.
