We asked for no cable and were given a site. We had hooked up and were getting ready to put slides out. Hubby decided he would like cable for the evening. When I called to ask to move, the staff person huffed and puffed like we were putting a big effort on her. I went to pay for the cable ($2) and again she acted like it was such an effort to change a number on the form. Plenty of sites were open. Grass around the electric pole, sewer, and water hookup was very overgrown. We only stayed one night, so the price was right.

Nice park close to Rockport. Easy in and out. Sites are large. Pleasant helpful staff. Would stay here again. Weekly rate works out a lot cheaper at $175.

Date of Stay:

Location was good for San Antonio and Hill Country but a bit far for Austin. Amenities were good. Noise from highway and trains. Gravel sites were dirty and muddy when wet. Park is mainly fulltime residents who are not that friendly to seasonal guests and others passing through.

Hate to say nice things about this park because it will never be available again. Very nice park, great location for the beach. Plenty of walking, biking trails, things to do. Friendly staff, clean well kept, I need to stop saying how nice our stay was.

Date of Stay:

Spacious sites but park is sandwiched between two trailer parks. Area outside park is rundown, and we wouldn't walk at night. No amenities. Barking dogs in neighborhood, chickens/roosters crowing early in the morning, airport traffic started early but wasn't all day. Navy training jets often drowned out normal conversation one day until after dark. Only good point is how close it was to Key West and how close it was to two good restaurants: Hogfish Bar and Grill and Rusty Anchor. Lazy Dogs outdoor water sports rental location also close.

A nice regional park close to DC and an easy drive to the metro into the Capital. Pohick Bay has plenty to do other that visiting DC. There are walking trails, kayaking and a state park on a migratory bird route. Campsites are wooded and quiet. We had plenty of room for a 37 footer. We will visit again on our way by.

A little out of the way but worth the drive if you want to be away from the beach. We used it as a central point to visit the Outer Banks sights. Park facilities are as listed. Sites were on the water. Nice boardwalk around water and into the marsh.

We stayed in late October and the facility was very quiet although it is really busy in the summer. They do not honor Good Sam and it is cheaper to make a reservation through Encore central booking. It is a big park with mostly permanent and seasonal campers.

Panther Lake is a well maintained but old facility a nice wooded park like setting with level sites. WiFi is only available at the pavilion. We stayed as fulltimers from April - October 2011 this was our first campground. The staff is helpful, friendly and responsive to requests. During the week campground is quiet but at weekends gets busy with lots of activities for guests. We enjoyed our stay here and will stop by again.
