Oasis RV Resort, Amarillo, Texas

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very nice RV Park. Good pull thrus etc. Cable OK but not great. We were there during an extreme weather event including a marginal tornado. The information about shelters and what to do was marginal at best. There was no written instructions or information on the shelters. Had to ask the front desk who provide marginal information. We were unaware that the Office and Clubhouse were shelters. The lack of management information and involvement during this event was troubling. We camped at Oasis RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Downtown Riverside RV Park, North Little Rock, Arkansas

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

We had a spot right on the river which makes this a good rv park. If you are not on the river, the remainder of the park not so good. Access to downtown Little Rock over two pedestrian bridges across the river is much fun. It is not located in the greatest of areas. A good one night stop. We camped at Downtown Riverside RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There is lots to do here. Grand Ole Opry, Reiman Auditorium and The Gulch are musts. The trolley tour is very good. A trip to Jack Danials Distillery in Lynchburg is much fun and informative. The Lynchburg Town Square is worth the visit.

Bar Harbor RV Park & Marina, Abingdon, Maryland

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $68.00
Overall Rating:

We booked this site because of the sites on the water. Our site was well located for view of the Bush River. Unfortunately, there was high water when we were there that actually inundated our fire pit and made access to our car difficult because of the water. We had neighboring sites that people stepped out of their RV into inches of water. The day we got there, they had a high water event that left debris all over the sites and roadways; No-one from the park staff made any effort to clean up the mess. This an older family run park that is in real need of some TLC. We camped at Bar Harbor RV Park & Marina in a Motorhome.

Mystic KOA, North Stonington, Connecticut

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $80.00
Overall Rating:

We had what is called a patio site. Very good level site, fire pit, concrete patio etc. These sites had an open view of a field and other RVs over a 100 yards away. We thought it was really pricey for what it is. Cable TV was sketchy even after replacement of a connector. But we have satellite, so it was not a major deal. We were concerned when we made the reservation because of the park proximity to I95. But noise was minimal and not an issue. We camped at Mystic KOA in a Motorhome.

Moorings Oceanfront RV Resort, Belfast, Maine

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $94.00
Overall Rating:

We had the lovely Site 1 with an unobstructed view of the ocean. Good size site. Cable TV was very good. WiFi not so much. The site staff were wonderful and much fun. Very accommodating. The park evidently has new owner who is making improvements, but it is still a work in progress. The roads and site are dirt. Our site was in dire need of a concrete pad or gravel surface. Because of the dirt roads, and a hard to find sign, we were wondering if we made a mistake when we checked in. We camped at Moorings Oceanfront RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Bar Harbor / Oceanside KOA, Bar Harbor, Maine

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $99.00
Overall Rating:

This park has a great location. Great water views and access. We spent 18 days here in two different spots. We were 9 days in site 346 and then site 358 which was across the road. 346 is right on the water with unobstructed view of the bay. It is adjacent to the public access to the water. The public access was not too big of an issue for the most part. Some have not been trained in campground etiquette. 358 is a corner site with good view of the bay. Large site with lots of room. The only issue is it is quite unlevel. We never were able to get our coach leveled satisfactorily even with blocks. It is also satellite challenged. But it is a lovely site. These sites do not have sewer, but the park provides a great pump out service. Very reasonable and timely. The staff is great and the park is extremely well maintained. The trash cans are emptied on a continuous basis. We would stay here again. We camped at Bar Harbor / Oceanside KOA in a Motorhome.

Great access to all of the Mt. Desert Island/Bar Harbor sites including Acadia National Park, Southwest Harbor, Northeast Harbor and Bass Harbor. Acadia National Park is spectacular. The Lobster Pounds are a hoot. Ellsworth which is about 10 miles away has a Super Walmart, Home Depot and super markets.

Apple Island Resort, South Hero, Vermont

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $95.00
Overall Rating:

We had reserved a Lake View site some time ago. The site we were initially given was Lake View only if there were no motorhomes parked in front of you. We worked with the staff to get a premium lake view site which was unobstructed. There are some nice Lake View sites on terraces but one needs to be very careful on the location. Our site was crushed rock with no patio area. Grass was minimal. For the price, the sites need to have a patio area that is concrete or similar surface as opposed to dirt. We camped at Apple Island Resort in a Motorhome.

This was a wonderful surprise. We had a site right on the water with a sunrise view. It was too bad we were only spending one night. The park is fairly isolated and takes some careful driving skills. But we loved this place. We camped at 1000 Islands / Association Island KOA in a Motorhome.

Oak Grove Campground / Resort, Holland, Michigan

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

We arrived early for check-in. The teenagers checking us in said we had to go out of the park until check-in. We had to go in to turn around and found we had to unhook our towed to do so. We just waited in the cramped parking area until our site was ready. Turns out there was a daisy chain of sites being available waiting on someone who was checking out way late. One of the owner's did come out to help us with parking temporarily. This needs adult supervision. We had a large site that we could not get our towed on. All this being said, the location of the park is great. Right along the bike path along the lake and channel. We camped at Oak Grove Campground / Resort in a Motorhome.

Mackinaw Mill Creek Camping, Mackinaw City, Michigan

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $80.00
Overall Rating:

With over 600 sites, there is a wide variation on quality. However, we loved our site. We had a Large Bridge View sites that overlooked a green belt with fire pits right on Lake Huron. We had a gorgeous view right out of our windshield. There are two types of Large Bridge View sites. One with view on the awning side of the coach and one without. We had one without but there was much room for chairs, table etc. on the none awning side. Some reviews cited all of the kids etc as being a problem. We loved it. It was great to see young families camping with their kids. Staff here was extremely friendly, even stopping to ask if everything was OK. Evidently, the park is second and third generation family owned and managed. The park is extremely well maintained. The fire pits along Lake Huron are all used nightly. It is fun to do. We camped at Mackinaw Mill Creek Camping in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The primary attraction here is Mackinac Island. The Star Line Ferry runs an hourly shuttle from the Campground to the Ferry Dock. The shuttle has a trailer for bicycles. It is very efficient. We rode around Mackinac Island on our bicycles and had the Buffet at the Grand Hotel for lunch. Was a great day and nice ferry ride. About 15 miles away on US 31 is a great family owned dive called Camp Brutus Deli. Great breakfast and lunch.
