Raven hill (sewer) section very nice but it took us over 3 sets of lynx blocks to get level. Other sections (no sewer) are more level. This is still one of our all time favorite parks due to the lake, park size, site size, amenities (horseback riding, canoe rental) and hiking trails. Also, firewood was 2 sticks/$1.

Very well maintained park. We stayed on the beach side. I was worried about sand, and salty residue on the trailer but we were far enough away from both. Beach access good, sand was compacted pretty well so walking along the beach was enjoyable. Sites are nice and roomy, staff excellent. My only disappointment was the sand spurs (Sticker burs) that were all over and kept getting in the dog's paws. That has occurred in other area parks this time of year. The park staff said the burs will die off during Nov-Mar.

Clean, nice roomy sites, level sites, nice amenities (nature center, Lodge, scenic drive to the top, hiking). The McDonald Observatory was an excellent evening trip up the mountain--well worth the money and time. The stars were phenomenal since the area is so dark. Highly recommend this destination. Excellent staff. Lots of javelinas roaming the campsites (could have been due to the park being just opened from an extended closure). We only stayed two nights but wish we could have stayed longer. We plan to return. The park was relatively empty the last week of December.

Park is clean, staff great, level sites. Sites were a little close together compared to Davis Mountains state park. The Springs were fun to swim in even in December (the morning air temp was 25deg) and we were able to get in. Our family likes to hike and there wasn't much hiking at the park. We stayed two nights which was perfect. The park was pretty empty beginning 12/26. It is clearly set up for warmer weather with large parking lots by the springs etc. We enjoyed our visit and being relatively close to I-10, it is a good stop off point.

Nice quiet "GEM" of a Park with wide open sites. Lots of trails, friendly park staff, only two other campers on Friday night. Excellent place for a group outing! We used it as a stop over but it would be perfect for a nice quiet weekend.

Fantastic views from camp sites. All gravel & mostly level sites. Perfect location to national park, handy store & restaurant on site. Friendly staff in store. No WiFi at our site, Verizon only had 3G. As noted in other reviews, the entrance road to the campground was a little rough but short and usable. Our 15 year old enjoyed sandboarding in the park (boards & sleds rented from store). Power Note: At the time, 6 of 20 spots were filled and I confirmed 118v at the wall socket after the AC started. But we only used the AC a limited amount of time since the weather was cooler at that elevation.

Phenomenal scenery including a lake across the street. Very good WiFi. Clean restrooms. For longer trailers (30ft & up) I recommend using pull-thru site. The back-in sites were short and narrow. Park was very quiet during the week. Park staff was helpful & friendly. Perfect proximity to Estes village and national park entrances. Verizon signal strength good. Small store on site.

We used as an overnight spot on our way to Estes Park. As noted in other reviews, there is awesome scenery, clean bathroom, friendly staff, and sites level. While it was pet friendly, we had to hike a bit to find a place for the dogs. Elevation 7888ft so temps were cool. Wi-Fi was good during non peak hours. Verizon signal is good. Price reflects Good Sam Discount

Park was OK for an overnight stop. Staff was helpful and easy to work with on reservations. Had to level a bit but we came in at night and couldn't see well enough. There were level pull through sites. Park was quiet and there was Diesel right around the corner.

Excellent park, clean, well kept. Sites are smaller/closer together than what we normally experience at Texas State Parks. Park staff very friendly. If you fish, check the calendar for dates when the river is stocked. We just happened to be there the day after it was stocked with Trout...the kids had a great time catching their limits. Would definitely go back, it is probably a great place to go in the summer.

We camped in the wooded area so we could have a campfire (not allowed on water front sites). Excellent park staff, very clean park, excellent size sites. We met several great folks who have been camping there on the same weekend for the last 10/20 yrs. We were able to get through all turns with a 35' trailer and a long bed truck.

Park is clean & quiet, sites are level, restrooms are clean. Hiking is great, museum is great, trading post is great. Cell signal (Verizon) available at ranger station. Mesquite loop has a few muddy sites (if raining) but has the largest sites in the park. Park hosts and rangers were helpful and accommodating. Would definitely return!

Excellent overnight stop-over park on our way to Palo Duro. We arrived late on Friday night, staff provided cell phone number in case of trouble. The office had great instructions park routes were clearly marked, sites were level (gravel), there was plenty of grass for our pets (yes, we picked up after them). There was road noise from the highway and the GPS/Google maps did not locate the park adequately. There are signs at the Fruitland Road exit (must u-turn upon exiting the highway) The GPS coordinates are N33 deg 29.273, W097deg 47.879

We stayed here 2 nights while sightseeing in the San Antonio area. The park is quiet and clean. Its terrain is typical of the Texas hill country (rocky, not much grass). Note that there is a huge grassy area with kids play equipment near the bathrooms which worked out perfect for our pets (yes, we picked up after them). The site was level and the roads easy for our 35' Trailer+ 20' Truck to get around in. The management was very accommodating and responded quickly to our emails. We had good Data service with Verizon.

Small park, clean, quiet, level asphalt site, small gravel areas, no dirt or dust, located on golf course, excellent park hosts/rangers. No Verizon data signal in the area. Blacks BBQ is the best!
