Rusk Depot Campground (formerly Rusk State Park - Rusk Unit), Rusk, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2013 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed 2 nights in order to ride the train and did receive a discount on the camping cost. The park has been privately run for several years and is kind of shabby. Many sites were occupied by "monthly" renters, some were oil workers and some not. Many people driving through quite fast and no one stopping them. Wi-Fi only worked at the office. Unfortunately the train ride was not at all scenic, but the staff were very friendly and nice. We camped at Rusk Depot Campground (formerly Rusk State Park - Rusk Unit) in a Motorhome.

Richards Park, Brady, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2013 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Thought we would check out this campground based on the review of Oct 2011. First - price is now $20 per night, second - most sites are unlevel and dusty, and third - while we walked around there was a lot of unsavory looking people coming and going. We decided to move on, felt we would not be safe staying here. The actual park looked quite large and nice. We camped at Richards Park in a Motorhome.

Rocky Creek COE, Somerville, Texas

Large park with well laid out sites, very clean, typical COE, lots of birds around the lake and very windy. Super quiet at night. We camped at Rocky Creek COE in a Motorhome.

Fairview Riverside State Park, Madisonville, Louisiana

Date of Stay: April, 2013 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Well maintained park with nice spacious sites. We took a premium site, because it was the only one that had a beautiful view of the bayou. We walked around and all the regular sites were just fine, no water views. Nice boardwalk and trails though the woods. WiFi actually worked as advertised. We camped at Fairview Riverside State Park in a Motorhome.

Gum Springs, Winnfield, Louisiana

Date of Stay: April, 2013 - $3.00
Overall Rating:

Just a nice little national forest campground, right off of US84, but little traffic noise. Large shady sites with grills and tables, but no amenities except for port-a-potties. Short walk down to a small fishing lake with more tables and benches. We camped at Gum Springs in a Motorhome.

Live Oak Ridge Park COE, Belton, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2013 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

Nice shady sites with some views of the lake, but we did not know the park is under construction, and those closer to the lake are being redone right now (will be super nice when done). Friendly attendant was having trouble with the computer system, and it took ages to get checked in. We camped at Live Oak Ridge Park COE in a Motorhome.

Clear Springs Recreation Area, Meadville, Mississippi

Date of Stay: April, 2013 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

Most sites are small and close together. We arrived in the middle of a weekday and found the place full, except for 2 sites that we could not fit in, so we moved on. We camped at Clear Springs Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

Juniper Campground, Ririe, Idaho

Date of Stay: July, 2012 - $16.00
Overall Rating:

A difficult campground to rate. We had seen various recommendations and were just staying overnight. On the plus side - only about 3 miles off US 26 and not hard to find, pick your own site, very very quiet and peaceful, especially at night. However many of the sites were extremely unlevel and narrow, with only a few having a view of the reservoir. The new C loop does have really large and level sites, but we decided we liked A loop better. Would probably stay here again. We camped at Juniper Campground in a Motorhome.

Ennis RV Village, Ennis, Montana

Date of Stay: July, 2012 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Our 2nd stay at this great park. We paid 96.20 for 3 nights with Good Sam discount, excellent value. The owner and staff are super friendly and accommodating. Sites are well maintained with a small grass patio and, yes the trees are growing. Wi-Fi is now excellent. Looks like there are a lot of return visitors. Ennis is a great little town. We can highly recommend Yesterday's Soda Fountain for breakfast and lunch. We plan to stay again next summer. We camped at Ennis RV Village in a Motorhome.

Camp Three Forks , Three Forks, Montana

Date of Stay: July, 2012 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

This is a tired, older park, a former KOA. Our main reason to stay there was to have dinner at the Sacajawa Inn - in Three Forks, which we highly recommend. Definitely overpriced, for what you get - we paid $72.50 including tax for 2 nights, for a water and electric site, no Wi-Fi, gravel weedy sites. Best part for us was being away from the full hookup sites in the back of the park (plenty of long terms there) We had nice shade trees and a beautiful view of the valley. Some road noise during the day, but quiet at night. We were told they are not filling the pool because of a water shortage. Doubt we would stay here again. We camped at Camp Three Forks in a Motorhome.

Wakeside Lake RV Park (formerly Rainbow Lake RV Park), Rexburg, Idaho

Date of Stay: July, 2012 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Our 2nd stay here. Priced very fairly at $20. The owner is a super nice lady, who is working very hard to make this a nice place. It is super clean, the laundry great and she said the honor system works very well. (Put your money into a secure box to pay for washer, dryer, snacks and souvenirs.) Some of the utilities, especially sewer are placed awkwardly. Wi-Fi was spotty while we were here, but worked well at the laundry. Nice views of the lake, but quite a bit of road noise from US 20 during the day. We certainly hope to stay here again next summer. We camped at Wakeside Lake RV Park (formerly Rainbow Lake RV Park) in a Motorhome.

Southside RV Park, Dillon, Montana

Date of Stay: July, 2012 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Loved this small park and it's great, friendly, hard working owners. Can't wait to go back next year. We had a shady side by the creek and stayed 4 days. Utilities and Wi-Fi worked great, laundry was spotless, no road noise. It is convenient to the small town of Dillon and we enjoyed exploring the area and eating at Sparky's Garage. The WW2 museum is fantastic. We even enjoyed visiting the sheep and cow. It is not for those that want a "resort" type atmosphere, but for us it was perfect and we will be back next year. We camped at Southside RV Park in a Motorhome.

Fairway RV Park, Blackfoot, Idaho

Date of Stay: July, 2012 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Park is adjacent to County Fairgrounds. We followed directions from their website and found it easily. There was no one here but us, all night long. We picked a site and paid the Iron Ranger. Very quiet, really nothing to do, but it worked out well for us for overnight. Super Wal-Mart fairly close by. We camped at Fairway RV Park in a Motorhome.

Golden Spike RV Park, Brigham City, Utah

Date of Stay: July, 2012 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

We have stayed here overnight several times and never been disappointed. Check in is easy, staff so nice and honor requests for sites (we wanted shade). You even get a free newspaper! Utilities and Wi-Fi work well, there is a small area of very nice green grass at each site and lovely trees too. Used the laundry for the first time and it was clean and reasonably priced. The owner works very hard to keep this small park in tiptop shape. The only ding is road noise, which they cannot do much about. There is a thick hedge at the back of the sites and long term visitors are in the rear row. Great place and we will stay again whenever coming through this area. We camped at Golden Spike RV Park in a Motorhome.

Page Lake Powell Campground, Page, Arizona

Date of Stay: July, 2012 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

Adequate park for overnight. Check in was easy and friendly, utilities and wifi worked well. We chose not to pay extra for cable. Seemed to be popular with "renter campers" probably seeing the national parks etc. We would stay again if traveling this route. We camped at Page Lake Powell Campground in a Motorhome.
