March, 2005 -
A well run, well maintained family campground. When you arrive, they lead you to your site in a golf cart and will help you into your site if you need help. Read some previous bad reviews about bugs but did not have a problem at the end of March (Easter weekend) other than early morning and dusk gnats. The grounds are beautiful with huge old oak trees that are well trimmed and maintained (no overhead clearance problems). Some of the biggest oaks I have ever seen. Bikes are a must. Lots and lots of paved bike paths on the island. It would be nice if there were a few more small or low-key eating places on the island. There is nothing after 4pm under around $16-18/person to eat. The island is beautiful and the campground is great. We stayed a week and I hated to leave. We camped at Jekyll Island Campground in a Travel Trailer.
