Lighthouse Resort & Marina, Pottsboro, Texas

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $4.00
Overall Rating:

I only seem to review parks when I really like them or don't. You will not have to guess which one this is. Firstly, this is not big rig friendly. Your experience begins on the approach, a narrow twisting road on a levee for about 2.5 miles, when you arrive and must descend a single lane, very steep drop off the levee to the park. What goes down must come up. The park is very poorly maintained: dusty roads, bumpy grass (sort of grass) sites, and very poor electric. I never looked in the showers etc, but the building looked very tired. Mostly permanents (maybe seasonal), but very few transients. My 50 amp connection was not working (causing my surge protector to hum) and not delivering power to the coach. The one small bright spot was when a maintenance man came over to check out the humming, and informed me that this site had poor power and I should move to another. He did assist me and we found another site and we were able to stay the night, but left the next day. The ride up the hill to the levee was equally challenging and I was very pleased to be on my way. Would not ever return (even for free). We camped at Lighthouse Resort & Marina in a Motorhome.

Red Apple Campground, Arundel, Maine

Date of Stay: June, 2014 - $57.00
Overall Rating:

This is one of the nicest campgrounds that we have stayed in, and we have camped over the whole USA. Very clean everywhere--showers, restrooms, campsites. Paved roads and pads, with good sized lots in between sites with nice grass. Owners very helpful and available. The owner even loaned me a walking stick. Located near to most of south Maine. The only reason that I would not be so complimentary is for fear that it would be full the next time in the area. We camped at Red Apple Campground in a Motorhome.

The RV Resort at Carolina Crossroads, Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina

Date of Stay: September, 2013 - $21.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here with Passport America so rate was discounted, but would pay full rate as is required on weekends. Very pleasant park, staff helpful and polite, park exceptionally clean, big pull thru sites, very nice pool, and very clean and modern shower area. My only two criticisms were that the cable was useless (but open park so satellite worked fine) and the shower floor was extremely slippery when wet. I would put a mat down if I owned this park. Easy on and off the interstate 95. Would stay here again when passing through. We camped at The RV Resort at Carolina Crossroads in a Motorhome.

Riverside Resort, Whistler, British Columbia

Date of Stay: July, 2013 - $53.00
Overall Rating:

The previous reviewer was referring to the lower level sites. Very different in the upper level. Way over priced for my value system. Our site had no sewer, no WiFi, no TV (satellite didn't work), site was so narrow I couldn't walk down the driver side of the coach, and on the "entertainment" side we were on top of our neighbors. The car couldn't fit in front so had to park it in a parking lot. The roads and sites were paved, so a clean park but they crammed in too many sites for the money that they charge. I wouldn't camp here again. We camped at Riverside Resort in a Motorhome.

Port of Newport RV Park, Newport, Oregon

Date of Stay: June, 2013 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

I agree with the previous reviewers. Great park, good location, clean, full services, very helpful staff. They do have a excellent host who will visit and provide local information regarding the area (restaurants, things to do and see). Big sites, easy access, well run. Would return. We camped at Port of Newport RV Park in a Motorhome.

Spring Hill Mobile Home Park, Chapel Hill, North Carolina

Date of Stay: May, 2012 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

May 2012. This is a beautiful park with full service (50 amps, water, sewer, cable, wifi). The park is nicely shaded with large sites (no, huge sites). Lots of space between them and plenty of trees. (I saw 5 deer in our site on the first morning). The owner could not have been more helpful, including taking us to the site and helping us to park. Close to Chapel Hill (6 miles). The only reason that I do not want to write this is to keep room the next time we pass through. A nice experience and we will return (hopefully) We camped at Spring Hill Mobile Home Park in a Motorhome.

Yellowstone River RV Park and Campground, Billings, Montana

Date of Stay: August, 2011 - $54.00
Overall Rating:

This park is way over priced. The sites for 50 amp, plus water and sewer, cost $54.00 and are side by side. We could not extend our awning as our neighbor in a 5th wheel was too close and both doors were facing each other. They could not satisfy us so we asked for our money back and they charged us a $5 fee. A complete waste of money. We moved down the road to another RV park and were pleased. I wish I had read this before we came to Billings. We camped at Yellowstone River RV Park and Campground in a Motorhome.
