Deception Pass State Park, Oak Harbor, Washington

Date of Stay: September, 2011 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in the Quarry Pond loop. It is actually outside of the park, but you have to check in at the park entrance. The state park redid the quarry pond loop over the winter. I thought it was quite nice. I would have preferred to have been within the state park but it was a fine alternative. I read some of the reviews of this loop and I didn't think that it was that dusty. Perhaps the upgrades that the state park did helped with that. The state park was very pretty. We would stay here again but preferably in the Cranberry Lake loop. We camped at Deception Pass State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Bella Pacifica Campground, Tofino, British Columbia

Date of Stay: August, 2011 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

We camped here because friends were getting married at the Tin Wis. The only reason why the rating is as high as it is, is because of the location. It is wonderful being steps from the beach! BUT the sites were small. We stuffed our fifth wheel into a site and had no room left over. We had to make our neighbors across the way to move their minivans so we could pull out. It really was nothing more than a parking lot and it was noisy. You know that it is bad when you can hear the guy snoring two spots over. That was how crowded in we were. We did not use the bathrooms and showers, but the friends we camped with told us that the past reviews were right. Not very clean. For the view, it is beautiful, but quite frankly, there are nicer campgrounds for the money. We camped at Bella Pacifica Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Washington Park Campground, Anacortes, Washington

Date of Stay: July, 2011 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

I read the reviews on the site before camping here. I have to say that the reviews are right: the roads are narrow; the entrance to the campground is narrow; the sites are not level. BUT it is extremely family friendly and for the money, you really can't beat it! We really enjoyed our time here and enjoyed having the deer come visit us while we ate dinner. The tide pools were great, but were in an area that was too steep to take our two year old. It is in a fantastic location and my little girl loved throwing rocks into the water. Some sites would accommodate a big rig and we actually saw some larger motorhomes in a couple of sites. Be prepared to bring a lot of leveling blocks! We would camp here again. We camped at Washington Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.
