Candy Hill Campground, Winchester, Virginia

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $51.00
Overall Rating:

The CG is 40 yards from a busy dual lane hwy, VA-37. It is very noisy all night which is one reason for my low evaluation. The site had a nice concrete pad which we appreciated as it was pouring down rain. Restrooms/showers were a long way from our site. They were not up to standards but were usable. The camp store has the most complete stock of camping and RV parts I have ever seen at a CG. Prices are fair. Due to the noise we will not stay here again. We camped at Candy Hill Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Lynchburg NW/Blue Ridge Parkway KOA (formerly Wildwood Campground), Monroe, Virginia

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

This campground is about 2 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway. The sites are close as are most KOA's, but there are tall shade trees. The owners are making important improvements yearly. We have been coming here for 5 years. In 2017 they added cable tv. The Wi-Fi is not strong, but my Verizon hot spot worked well with 3 bars. Lots of fun activities for the kids. Owners go out of their way to help campers who forgot something etc. Roads are fine with plenty of gravel. We camped at Lynchburg NW/Blue Ridge Parkway KOA (formerly Wildwood Campground) in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Blue Ridge Parkway is a great way to drive leisurely and see the mountains. Peaks of Otter has a restaurant about 1 hour south. Very nice location. Groceries are about 15 minutes away in Madison Heights.

Lost Lemon RV Park & Campground, Blairmore, Alberta

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

The sites are closer together than I would like, but the ones along the river have a nice "back yard" which leads to the river. Picnic tables in the back provide a nice setting to grill out or have a meal. Restrooms are heated and they play music inside. The pool looks very clean, although we didn't use it. We could access the Crowsnest River from the campground, which was fun for us as we fish for trout. The CG is located across the road from a basic grocery store and the town is very close. The hosts are very helpful and provide an enjoyable atmosphere. Power, water, and sewer connections were convenient and power was fine, according to my installed monitor. We had some tiny black bug problems in the camper. We used apple cider, vinegar, and dish liquid in a dish to catch them. This worked fairly well. We camped at Lost Lemon RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Fishing in the area is very good. We enjoyed visiting the Frank Slide, which is a museum where the side of a mountain fell down on the town of Frank in the early 1900's.

Moosehead Family Campground, Greenville, Maine

Date of Stay: June, 2013 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We camped here for 8 nights in a fifth wheel. The hosts were very nice and very helpful with where to see moose and find sporting goods shops. Grocery store is 1 mile and Greenville is about 2 miles. Interior roads get muddy in places when it rains a lot. Sites have no sewer. Bathrooms are fine. The toilets are "marine" style, meaning no flush. They are clean with no odors. There is a site pump service for $10, which is free if you stay a week. Our site had 50 or 30 amp service. We used 30 and it was excellent. Good trout fishing in the West Outlet Kennebec River. The East outlet had too much water when we were there. We will stay there again. We camped at Moosehead Family Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Moab Valley RV Resort , Moab, Utah

Date of Stay: August, 2011 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

Very well run campground. Clean bathrooms. We stayed in a premium site. Shade on most sites. I think it is the nicest campground in Moab. No bugs to speak of. We had a leak in the interior water line that has since gone away. I think it may have been caused by a high water pressure there. Good location to visit Arches NP and Canyonlands NP. Plenty to see and do in the Moab area. We camped at Moab Valley RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Cadillac Ranch RV Park, Bluff, Utah

Date of Stay: August, 2011 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Nice small campground. Some residents are construction workers who leave early in the morning. Very convenient to Monument Valley, 1 hour south. Bathroom is fine, large room with shower, sink, toilet. Helpful staff. Bring supplies, although there is a small stop n go with ice, beer, some food. Several restaurants in "town". Diesel available. We camped in a fifth wheel. It was windy when we were there so no bugs, although there is a small pond right next to the camping area. Tent sites are very close to the pond. We camped at Cadillac Ranch RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
