Because we are late planners, we found another campsite for our family weekend getaway to tube down Rainbow River, Florida. We didn't stay here by circumstances of being late planners and thank god we didn't. We decided to check out the campsites here to see what we missed out on and hopefully book for the next tubing trip. I would have been so dissatisfied if I had booked at this location. My family and I are all more than disappointed in our State campgrounds. NOT CLEAN, it looked like a dumping ground. RV's are on top of each other, within arms distance. The rangers were grumpy and rude. The landscaping was unsightly and in direct sun. The camping spots are located right there as you drive into the park. It look like a low grade trailer park. People looked unhappy and mad. Kids were crying and people were loud. The pool was broken, empty and looked like it hadn't been touched in years. There were weeds growing out that were as big as bushes. Bathrooms were nasty. I am so glad we are last minute planners and missed out on this place.

Found this location by searching the web for locations near Rainbow River, Florida to camp and boy it was a find. We intended to stay at another campground but didn't book in time. We showed up late Friday evening and the owners were more than helpful: made us feel right at home. There was nothing but beautiful country to look at as far as the eyes can see. Your surrounded by sky and forest. At night the stars shine so bright that you could stay up all night glazing at them. It's peaceful, quiet and clean. My family rented two RV campsites, we enjoyed the trails, newly built pool, bike riding, hiking and spotless and clean bath houses. We went Saturday to go tubing down Rainbow River. It's approximately 20 miles out, but the drive was delightful. Beautiful country to view and NO traffic. We decided to check out that other campground. I would have been so dissatisfied if I had booked at that location. (We are all more than disappointed in our State campgrounds.) I am so glad we are last minute planners. We did however enjoy the river and will experience it again. It was great fun watching my family make it down the four hour trip in the cold springs on a tub. We were blessed with more than we could have asked for in a campsite. I look forward to more family time and future visits here. Thank you to the owners for such a pleasant experience.
