Wayne County Fairgrounds & RV Park, Belleville, Michigan

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

As others have said, this is a no-frills park within the county fairgrounds property. The sites are grass with many pull-throughs. We were in the "back" row, farthest from the entrance because we chose not to spend the extra $5/day for sewer since it was a short stay. The e/w only sites were fairly close with 1 picnic table and fire ring per 2 sites. The camping area was fairly full but quiet. The grounds are fenced in so felt protected. The staff was friendly and helpful. Interior roads are gravel. Park is easy access off I-94 with many restaurants, stores (Walmart, Meijers, Aldi, Menards) very close. We camped at Wayne County Fairgrounds & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

This is a great location for visiting the Henry Ford museum/Greenfield Village complex. Easy drive from the park and away from the traffic of Detroit. I recommend allowing a few days to see the museum. There is an "all access" ticket which includes the museum, museum tour Greenfield Village, Factory tour and a movie. We did the museum and tour one day, factory tour and movie second day and Greenfield Village the 3rd day.

Markin Glen County Park, Kalamazoo, Michigan

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

A very nice county park that appears to be relatively new. Paved roads with concrete pull-through and back-in sites. Concrete patio with picnic table. Fire ring next to patio, wood available at office. Trees are young but did offer a little shade. Nice paved walking/bike trail around a lake which also has a small swimming beach. Play area for children. The utility post resembles a light house with electric and 2 water spigots. I would definitely stay here again if in the area. We camped at Markin Glen County Park in a Motorhome.

Shamrock Park, Berrien Springs, Michigan

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice, well kept park. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. There appears to be many seasonal campers here which are all very neat and uncluttered. Sites are grass or gravel. The pull-through site were smaller in width than the back ins. We were able to get a pull-through for our overnight stop. We camped at Shamrock Park in a Motorhome.

Mayberry Campground, Mount Airy, North Carolina

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $17.00
Overall Rating:

The park is in the hills of NC so sites are in tiers but the sites are level. They are open, gravel sites. Picnic tables are delivered to site upon request. There are several covered picnic pavilions and large fire rings with wood around the park. Park appears to be well maintained. There are some seasonal and possibly permanent sites but all were very neat and organized. There is catch and release fishing and well placed play areas for children. The staff is pleasant and helpful. Did not use the showers/ bathrooms. This is a good place to stay when visiting "Mayberry" Mt Airy and the surrounding area. I would definitely stay here again. We camped at Mayberry Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Mt Airy town center is as it was in the 1950s when Andy Griffin grew up then copied town as Mayberry. I recommend taking the Police car tour upon arrival to town. The driver gives an excellent overview of the area and helps in deciding what to visit in depth. There is a helpful visitors center on main street also. Pilot Knob SP and Hanging Rock SP are also a short drive from park.

Cathead Creek Ranch and RV Park, Darien, Georgia

Date of Stay: April, 2016 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

This is a small park just a few miles from I-95. The sites are open and surrounded by horse ranches. It doesn't offer all the amenities of a destination park, which was the draw for me. We camped at Cathead Creek Ranch and RV Park in a Motorhome.

Walnut Creek RV Park, Troy, Alabama

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed at this park overnight on trip through AL. Large fairly level grassy sites. Did not use any of the facilities. Grounds were neat and clean. There is a lake and a large building for gatherings as well as a pavilion. Would be a good place for a group or rally. Staff was very friendly and helpful. There are a few RVs that appear to be here seasonally or longer but they were all very clean and tidy. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Walnut Creek RV Park in a Motorhome.

Camp Lakewood Campground & RV Park, Effingham, Illinois

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

Spent a week here visiting friends. Most sites are pull through and level wooded sites. Could not get satellite signal but they do have basic cable. Staff is very friendly and helpful. It appeared to be a popular overnight stop for those traveling on I-70 and I-57. Play area for children as well as horseshoes. They also rent canoes and kayaks for the lake. Many sites have view of lake. We didn't use showers, laundry room or lounge so can't give personal comment but heard they were very clean. We camped at Camp Lakewood Campground & RV Park in a Motorhome.
