Bismarck KOA, Bismarck, North Dakota

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This surely was originally not a KOA as there was some space between sites and our site had hedges between it and the ones next to it. Not a fan of KOAs but this one was nicer. Friendly staff who helped us to our site. We have a 38' 5th wheel and got in and out easily, although we did have to park our truck sideways in the front. We did not use the Wifi but used our Verizon hot spot no problems. We camped at Bismarck KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Eagle Nest RV Resort, Polson, Montana

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here while visiting the area and is about an hour or so away from Glacier National Park. The staff here was great; extremely helpful and friendly. Sites were easy to get in and out of and the park was well maintained. Paved roads and pads with easy access to full hook-ups. We camped at Eagle Nest RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

While there we went to the close by local theater to see a play as we like to support such local venues. There is also a dive of a restaurant the sells BBQ that closes when it sells out of the items prepared for the day. Get over the looks of the place from the outside, it was clean and friendly inside and offered great food!!!

Coeur D'Alene RV Resort, Post Falls, Idaho

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

I am giving this an 8 because it had everything we needed, was clean, quiet and convenient to the interstate. I am not sure it was an RV 'Resort' but it was a step above average with nice facilities. Access was easy in and out. We were there one night as we traveled through and they gave us a very convenient pull-thru site in the first row next to the office. This made it even easier to get in and out. We camped at Coeur D'Alene RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Ainsworth State Park, Cascade Locks, Oregon

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

We have a 38' 5th wheel and while there were a lot of big (bigger) rigs in the park, it was not easy getting in or out; getting in to our pull-through site or leveling. Roads were tight, trees hung low and you need to be careful or you will side-swipe something. Roads were paved or asphalt as was our site. Full hook ups were convenient Once in, it was a good place to stay in the Columbia River Gorge area on scenic Highway 30. We would probably stay here again as it is a good value at $29 but I had doubts as to whether I was going to get our unit in and around. We did so all ended well. We camped at Ainsworth State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Valley of the Rogue State Park, Gold Hill, Oregon

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

This is a state park that you get to by going through a rest area. It was fairly easy access in and out and provided full hook-ups at a very reasonable price. We used it as a base to visit the Redwood Forrest and Crater Lake, each about an hour and a half away. We had a pull through that was not exactly level but do-able as far as leveling is concerned. We were near the back of the first loop and did not hear any Interstate noise. I am giving it a 7 but is at least a 7.5. We would camp here again if in the area because it is a good value for $29 per night. We camped at Valley of the Rogue State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This was a top notch RV resort with all the amenities. Paved sites, asphalt roads, complete facilities, including a casino, restaurants, etc. There is really not much more to add. It was a wonderful place to stay to visit the area. We camped at Jackson Rancheria RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

New Frontier RV Park, Winnemucca, Nevada

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

This is a fairly new facility that is laid out great. Big pull thru's that are level and spacious with easy access to full hook-ups. They have even planted trees at almost every site that in a few years will provide more shade. This is a great place to stay if you are passing through as we were as it has a restaurant and even a small casino within walking distance. We asked about the 'park model-like' units on site and they were for purchased for local workers, but they have since abandoned that plan and intend to get rid of them at some point. They sat empty. We camped at New Frontier RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Pony Express RV Resort, North Salt Lake, Utah

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

This is a really nice park. We were not bothered by road noise and could not hear it from inside our 5th wheel. Sites are paved and we had a pull-thru so access was easy. They are close together and your neighbor's water, electrical and sewer hookups take up some of your site; ditto that with your connections on your other neighbors site. We give that a pass because it is a really nice park. They screwed up our reservation somewhat and then tried to tell us it was our fault. They suggested we should have called but when we did no one answered. It's a long story and they evidently have an outside party making reservations as well which further complicates things. All in all it was a really nice park, conveniently located with good service, except for the reservation snafu. Salt Lake City was one of the friendliest places we have been. We camped at Pony Express RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Laramie KOA, Laramie, Wyoming

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

First, we are not fans of KOAs in general. They are cramped and overpriced and this one is no different. But this one was not quite as bad as others. There is no grass anywhere in the park and sites are tight. The first site we were given was taken so we asked to be placed in another spot and they accommodated us. I am not sure why I am giving this a '6' and not a '5', other than the fact that they gave us a rate less than the $50 that KOAs typically steal from you, and we have been in ones where spots are even closer together. We camped at Laramie KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Mormon Island State Recreation Area, Doniphan, Nebraska

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

We were going to stay at another nearby park but this looked inviting as it can be seen as you pull off I-80 we stayed here instead. We should have continued to the other park. This campground is okay, but that's about it. There is no easy place to fill up with water. The 'pull through' spots are more 'pull over' spots as they are just a wide part of the road. We were originally assigned one but our slide out would have stuck out in the road. The worst part were the loud, close, neighbors in the park. They were loud for the day and early evening and then left around 9, way past the checkout time. How about a little supervision Ranger? We camped at Mormon Island State Recreation Area in a Fifth Wheel.

Lake Powhatan Recreation Area, Asheville, North Carolina

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Great place to stay while visiting the Asheville area. We had a site in the only loop that offers full hook-ups. It was asphalt, fairly level and private. Over the air TV was limited and Wi-Fi almost not existent using our smartphone as a hotspot. We were in the area to see Biltmore anyway so it was not that big of a deal. Great value with our COE 'Senior' discount. We camped at Lake Powhatan Recreation Area in a Fifth Wheel.

Seven Points Campground COE, Hermitage, Tennessee

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $11.00
Overall Rating:

This is a beautiful park located close to Nashville; a great place to stay while visiting the area. The $11 price reflects the COE 'Senior' discount.
We have a 38' 5th wheel and were able to back in to our site with some maneuvering. There are some sites that this might be difficult due to a somewhat narrow road, shoulders that dip and trees. I am not complaining, just giving you a heads up to be careful. The dump station was not that easy to use - you need to swing wide to avoid a 'raised' curb around one side of the dump station. We camped at Seven Points Campground COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Grant River COE, Potosi, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This campground is located between the railroad tracks and the Mississippi river. A long, loud train is going past as I write this, but that's okay, we knew that ahead of time. I think most sites are easy to get in to but be careful of site 37 and those on that side of the road as they are back-ins and you better be good because trailers across from you will prohibit much maneuvering. What no one tells you is that there is no central place to fill up with water. There are spigots located throughout the park. You may need a couple of hoses to reach your unit if you need to fill up when you get there. My mobile hot spot is struggling but the beautiful view of the Mississippi offsets any inconvenience. We camped at Grant River COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Cave Country RV Campground, Cave City, Kentucky

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here one night as we visited Mammoth Cave and continued on our way. It was easy access to the Interstate and to the Cave was about 10 miles up the road. We had a pull thru that gave us plenty of room to pull in and out of, with cable connection. The park was clean and check in was easy. We would stay here again, in part because there was such easy access. We camped at Cave Country RV Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Double J Campground and RV Park, Chatham, Illinois

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for two nights as we saw the sights in Springfield and this campground was a good base location. It was easy access on and off the Interstate, which you can hear from the campground. Our site was a little weird in that electrical and water was near the front; the sewer near the back. The campground was clean and well run. We would stay at Double JJ again if we are ever in the area. We camped at Double J Campground and RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
