This park has rather a lot of trash; my site had several chunks of broken glass. There's continuous distant traffic noise and some distant train noise. Sites are long, narrow, near-level gravel, separated by wide grass strips. Voltage is good. Some sites are lightly shaded, some have a picnic table. Water faucets are below ground, making connection awkward. I couldn't find room for a pressure regulator. Roads are wide gravel in good condition. The owner is friendly and helpful, but is usually out of the office. WiFi is strong. I measured 934.8 kB/s down, which is typical off-peak. Verizon LTE works well. Cable is Eagle Communications. There are 65 NTSC analog channels, about 17 Clear QAM digital SD channels, but only 6 HD channels (PBS, Weather Channel, WGN, QVC, NASA, KSCW). Terrestrial broadcast: ABC (marginal), CBS (marginal), NBC, PBS (off 00-07). There's one private shower per gender. Laundry: 7 top-loaders ($2), 6 front-loaders ($2-5), 9 dryers ($0.25/5 min.). 2 top-loaders are marked "greasers." Two reindeer graze in the mini-golf course. Seriously. Rate is total with Passport, including $2 for WiFi. Cable would have been $2 more.

This is a clean park with traffic noise and train noise. Sites are wide, near-level grass and gravel, in various lengths. A few have shade or picnic tables. Voltage is good. Roads are gravel in very good condition. Verizon LTE works well. There are strong terrestrial broadcast signals from ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, and PBS. No rest rooms, showers, WiFi, cable, laundry, or credit cards.

This is a fairly clean park with continuous loud traffic noise and some train noise. Sites are long, wide, not-level, unshaded concrete, separated by thin grass strips. Voltage is good. Sewer connections are not threaded. Each site has a picnic table and grill. Roads are wide asphalt in excellent condition. The manager is friendly and helpful, but is seldom on site. WiFi is strong. I measured 654.7 kB/s down, which is typical. Verizon LTE works well. Cable is Mediacom. Laundry: 2 top-loaders ($1.50), 4 dryers ($1.50).

This is a fairly clean park with continuous distant traffic noise and some train noise. Sites are dirt and gravel, narrow, mostly not level, in various lengths, without shade. Not all sites have sewer connections, 50 amps, or cable. Voltage is good. Roads are dirt and gravel, in good condition. Staff and hosts are friendly and helpful, but can be hard to find. WiFi is strong. One afternoon I measured 653.6 kB/s down; by evening it was very slow. Verizon LTE works well. Showers are clean but lack privacy. Laundry: 2 top-loaders ($1.25), 2 dryers ($1 for 46 min). Rate is total with Good Sam.

The current name is Magnolia RV Park II. This is a clean park for adults. During the day there's occasional aircraft noise from the nearby small airport; at night it's very quiet. Sites are long, level concrete separated by grass strips. Most sites have picnic tables. There are some small trees but no shade. Voltage is good. Roads are wide asphalt, in excellent condition. The speed bumps are annoying, but do no damage if taken at the posted 5 MPH. The manager and hosts are friendly and helpful. WiFi is strong in the clubhouse and immediately adjacent sites. There's one CenturyLink DSL line, max 1.5 MB/s download speed. Some sites are wired for DSL; it's possible to get individual service from CenturyLink. Verizon LTE works well. There's no cable, but there are strong terrestrial broadcast signals from ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, and PBS. There are two private showers, one usable in a wheelchair. Laundry: 2 large top-loaders ($1.50), 2 dryers ($2 for 45 min.). Credit cards are not accepted; payment is cash or check. Rate is monthly, not including electric ($0.12/kWH). To stay on paved roads, take County Road 49 to Mannich Lane, then west on Mannich Lane, then south on Lipscomb Road.

This is a clean park for adults. During the day there's occasional aircraft noise from the nearby small airport; at night it's very quiet. Sites are long, near-level grass. There are some trees but no shade. Many sites have wooden decks or concrete pads. Voltage is good. A few sites are 50A only. Fires are not allowed at the sites; there's a big fire ring by the clubhouse. Roads are wide asphalt, in excellent condition. The owners and hosts are very friendly and helpful. WiFi is strong. There's one CenturyLink DSL line, max 1.5 MB/s download speed, for the entire park, so speed varies greatly. Verizon LTE works well. There's no cable, but there are strong terrestrial broadcast signals from ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, and PBS. Laundry: 2 top-loaders ($1.50), 2 dryers ($1.50 for 45 min.). This is a clean park. It's quiet except for the braying of the donkeys next door. There are also goats next door, and a small flock of free-range chickens, so expect a few flies. Sites are long, near-level grass. There are some trees but little shade. Each site has a small picnic table. Voltage is good. Roads are narrow asphalt or gravel, in very good condition. The owners are friendly and helpful. WiFi is fairly strong; typical download speed is 30 kB/s, but it's often much slower. Verizon LTE works well. Cable is Mediacom clear QAM digital; the local stations are HD, but the other channels are SD. There are 2 showers; the dressing areas are very small. Rate is with Good Sam.

This is a clean park with occasional distant train noise, even at night. Sites are wide and near-level. Long sites are available. Each site has a concrete pad on which sits a round, glass-topped table with no chairs. Voltage is good. Roads are wide asphalt, gravel, or dirt, in very good condition. Staff are friendly and helpful. WiFi is fairly strong; typical download speed is 30 kB/s, with great variation. Verizon LTE works well. I was told the cable will be DirecTV soon. There are strong terrestrial broadcast signals from ABC, CBS, FOX, CW, NBC, and PBS. Laundry: 2 top-loaders ($1.50), 2 dryers ($1.50). There are 4 private shower rooms.

This is a clean park for adults. There are occasional distant barking dogs, but otherwise it's very quiet. Sites are gravel and dirt, near level, wide, not especially long, with no shade. Water faucets are somewhat below ground, making connection awkward. Some sites have unthreaded sewer connections. Voltage is good. Roads in the park are gravel, adequately wide, in good condition, with a few small potholes. The road into the park is asphalt, in very good condition, but essentially one lane; there's not room for two larger RVs to get past each other. The owner and staff are friendly and helpful. Wi-Fi is strong; typical speed is 60 kB/s, but can be much slower. Verizon LTE works well. Laundry: 1 top-loader ($1.50), 1 dryer ($1.50 for 45 min.). There is one shower. Rate is the daily rate; there are also very reasonable weekly and monthly rates. Cash only.

Rate is total with Passport America. Credit cards are accepted, but Passport America is cash only. This is a clean park. There's some traffic noise and distant train noise, even at night. Sites far from the highway are quieter. Site are grass or dirt, not level, long, and wide. Drainage is good. Some sites are in an open field with no trees, some are among trees and heavily shaded. Everything said about electrical service applies only to 30 amp service. The boxes with 50 amp outlets look much newer. Voltage can be low at some sites and fine at others. At one site, turning on the microwave caused the voltage to drop to 102V. Unfortunately, sites far from the highway have lower voltage, so one has to trade voltage against quiet. If your RV has a low sewer outlet and your site is on a slope with the sewer connection upslope, dumping may be difficult. Roads are dirt and gravel, adequately wide, in good condition. The owners and staff are friendly and very helpful. Wi-Fi is strong; the speed varies from over 1 MB/s to useless. Verizon LTE works well. Laundry: 3 front-loaders ($2-3), 2 dryers (45 minutes for $2).

There are two campgrounds, this review is for the newer. This is a fairly clean park with occasional aircraft noise. I say fairly clean because of the large number of cigarette butts. Sites are long, narrow, near-level gravel and dirt, separated by narrow strips of grass. There are no trees, picnic tables, or fire rings. Roads are wide dirt and gravel in good condition. Staff are friendly and helpful. Wi-Fi signal is strong near the antenna, but I was unable to get online. Verizon LTE works well. There are showers somewhere in the fairgrounds complex, but they are locked. One must phone and get a staffer to open them. The entrance is on the west side of Youth Center Drive at 35.79633 -78.71773, marked Horse Complex Event Parking Only H7. Turn left at the fork, and drive 0.3 miles to the entrance on the left. Pick a site, phone the number on the sign, and someone will come out to take your payment, cash or check.

This is a clean park with continuous distant traffic noise. Sites are grass; some are sandy, some have some gravel. Sizes and amount of level vary. There are lots of trees, so sites are shady. In Autumn and Winter, leaves will fall on your roof. Roads are asphalt, a bit narrow, in very good condition. The owner and staff are friendly and helpful. Water pressure can be low. The water has a somewhat stale smell. Verizon LTE works well. WiFi is strong, and usually fast. Laundry: 2 top-loaders ($1.50), 2 dryers ($1.50 for 45 min.) The rate shown is the daily rate with Good Sam. Credit cards are accepted for short stays; for monthly, payment is cash or check. The total monthly rate is $452 for the first month, $428 per month for the second and third months, then $128 for the fourth month, plus electric ($0.15/kWh).

This review is for campground 1, the closest to the entrance. This is a clean, quiet campground. Pull-through sites are long, narrow, near-level crushed rock, separated by wide grass strips, with little shade. One electric pedestal is about midway between each pair of sites, so getting the electric cable to reach can be awkward. Back-in sites are grass, not level, shady. Roads in the park are wide asphalt in good condition. Roads in the campground are narrow crushed rock, in fair condition, with one low tree limb. Registration is self registration, cash only. Campers do not have to pay the $2 park entrance fee. There is a dump. Verizon 3G data service download speed (kB/s): max 162, typical 60.

Date of Stay:

This is a clean parking area with some train and traffic noise. Truck drivers sometimes use it as a rest area, so there are sometimes idling diesels. It's near level dirt and fine gravel. After a heavy rain, there can be large areas of standing water. Roads are wide concrete in excellent condition. The dump is free. Two potable water spigots are located by the tree line along Avenue N. Staff are friendly and helpful. Verizon data service download speed (kB/s): max 266, typical 120.

This is a clean park, except for the waterfowl excrement. There's traffic noise during the day; at night it's quiet except for the geese and peafowl. Sites are level or near-level concrete and gravel, narrow, close together, separated by grass. There are trees. Some sites are shady, some trees have low limbs. After rain, some sites have large puddles. Roads are wide asphalt in good condition. A free dump and potable water are by the restrooms. Verizon data service download speed (kB/s): max 120, typical 25. Payment is self-registration, cash only, with a 7-day stay limit. The campground entrance is unmarked, just north of the main park entrance.
