Kiva RV Park and Horse Motel, Bernardo, New Mexico

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This is a clean park with continuous traffic noise. Sites are near-level dirt and gravel. Some sites have trees, but little shade. Voltage is good. The circuit breaker box at my site was very close to the ground, and only had a 50 amp outlet, which was outside the box exposed to the weather. Sewer connections are unthreaded. Roads are wide gravel in good condition. There are two clean showers on the men's side, but no private dressing area. WiFi is fairly strong. I measured 28.3 kB/s down very early in the morning; it's usually even slower. Verizon LTE usually works well. Terrestrial broadcast TV: ABC CBS CW ION NBC PBS. Laundry: 4 top-loaders ($2), 4 dryers ($2). Staff are friendly and helpful. Credit cards are not accepted. There's lots of pro-firearms signage; I never saw any firearms. We camped at Kiva RV Park and Horse Motel in a Motorhome.

San Juan County Fairgrounds (McGee Park), Farmington, New Mexico

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This is a clean, quiet campground, at least where I was in section 5 at a beautiful spot next to the San Juan River. I had the whole section to myself, probably because most people are smart enough not to pay $30 for just electricity. (Water was turned off for the season.) Sites are unshaded, near-level dirt and gravel with utilities at the back. Sites are fairly close together, but since no one else was there they let me park parallel to the fence. Roads are asphalt or gravel in good condition. Interior roads are a maze. They gave me a map when I checked in, but the street names aren't on the map. Another section has sites on asphalt, which would probably be better in wet weather. WiFi is strong in the office (building 1). I measured 3896.6 kB/s down. WiFi is not available at the sites. Verizon LTE is strong but sometimes slow. There are two accessible showers next to building 3. Staff are friendly and helpful. Credit cards are accepted with about a $2 surcharge. A free dump is available. We camped at San Juan County Fairgrounds (McGee Park) in a Motorhome.

Ruins Road RV Park & Campground, Aztec, New Mexico

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

This is a clean, quiet park. Sites are long, wide, near-level gravel. Some sites have trees, and shade. Voltage is good. Sewer connections are unthreaded. The water is noticeably chlorinated. Roads are wide gravel in good condition with a few small potholes. WiFi is strong. I measured 303.5 kB/s down in early afternoon. By evening it's much slower and often unusable. Verizon LTE is also strong, but slow. Terrestrial broadcast TV: ABC CBS PBS. Owner is friendly and helpful. Credit cards are not accepted. We camped at Ruins Road RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

La Plata County Fairgrounds, Durango, Colorado

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $17.00
Overall Rating:

This is a clean campground. It's quiet at night unless a fairground event runs into the night. The campground is next to the fairground maintenance area, so heavy equipment noise can start around 7:30. If that doesn't wake you, the first train comes by about 8:10. Sites are long, wide (except site 1), non-level, unshaded gravel. Site 1 is less wide; if you have slides on both sides it could be a problem. Voltage is good. Water spigots are at sites 1, 3, and 5. Each spigot has a Y valve, so two hoses can be connected. Verizon LTE usually works well. Terrestrial broadcast TV: ABC CBS NBC PBS. Staff are friendly and helpful. Credit cards are accepted with a 2.9% surcharge. Something about the site layout leads some people to park curbside (passenger side on motorhomes) next to the utilities. If your neighbors do this, you may be forced to as well. My advice: bring enough electrical cable to reach the "wrong" side. If you need water, also bring a long enough fresh water hose. When checking in, clearly explain where you intend to park, and make sure it's OK. We camped at La Plata County Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

Red Rock Campground, Las Vegas, Nevada

Date of Stay: January, 2017 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

This is a clean, quiet campground. Sites are unshaded, non-level gravel in various lengths. Only sites 101-105 are really suitable for larger rigs. Each site has a picnic table and grill. Roads are gravel in fair condition with some large potholes. Generator hours: 6 AM to 10 PM.

I could sometimes get 1 bar Verizon 1x with an external antenna and booster, but usually nothing. There's usable Verizon LTE near the intersection of Highway 159 and Moenkopi Road.

Hosts are friendly and helpful. We camped at Red Rock Campground in a Motorhome.

Pacific Mobile Manor, Apache Junction, Arizona

Date of Stay: December, 2016 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

This is a clean 55+ park with traffic noise, though less at night. Sites are closely-spaced, unshaded, non-level gravel with utilities at the back. Some sites have a concrete pad. Voltage is good. Roads are wide asphalt in excellent condition. Sites 88-93 and 100-106 are slightly farther from the road.
On arrival I found the polarity was reversed (hot and neutral reversed) at my site. This was quickly fixed once I was able to convince them it was a problem. The sockets face straight down and are low to the ground, making it awkward to plug in and even more awkward to use a tester. Nevertheless, I know at least one other site has reversed polarity, so I recommend testing before plugging in.
Free WiFi is available in the pool area. It's fairly weak. I measured 270.0 kB/s down. There's also paid Viasat WiFi at the sites. It's strong. I didn't buy service. Verizon LTE works well.
There is one clean, private, non-accessible shower per gender.
Credit cards are not accepted.
Staff are friendly and helpful. We camped at Pacific Mobile Manor in a Motorhome.

This is a clean park with some traffic noise and some distant train noise. There's much less traffic noise at night. Sites are long, wide, unshaded, near-level gravel with utilities at the back. Each site has a picnic table. Voltage is good. Roads are wide asphalt in excellent condition.

Snow Canyon State Park, St George, Utah

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This is a clean, quiet campground. Hookup sites are long, very narrow, non-level, closely spaced, unshaded asphalt in excellent condition. Each site has a picnic table under a shelter. Voltage is good, but there was an electricity outage lasting about 14 hours. Dry camping sites are long, narrow, widely spaced, unshaded asphalt in excellent condition. Roads are wide asphalt in excellent condition.

There are two showers per gender, one accessible (roll in). They are clean and private, but unheated. There are no shower curtains, nor any way to adjust water temperature. Water only flows when a chain connected to a valve is pulled.

I could get 3 bars Verizon LTE with an external antenna and booster, but sometimes it dropped to 3G. No terrestrial broadcast TV or VHF weather radio.

Staff are friendly and helpful. We camped at Snow Canyon State Park in a Motorhome.

South Campground (NPS Campground), Zion National Park, Utah

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This is a fairly clean campground, though I found some trash at my site. There's traffic noise, but almost none at night. Sites are shady, non-level dirt. Each site has a picnic table. Generator hours: 8-10 AM and 6-8 PM. Roads are narrow asphalt in fair condition with a few large potholes, tight turns, some low branches, and many cracks in the pavement.

Verizon LTE works well. Terrestrial broadcast TV: CBS PBS. No VHF weather radio. We camped at South Campground (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.

Kanab RV Corral, Kanab, Utah

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This is a clean park with traffic noise, though little at night. Night football games from the nearby high school can be heard easily. Sites are near-level coarse gravel in various lengths. Most sites have trees, but little shade. Each site has a picnic table. Voltage is good. Water and sewer connections are below ground level in irrigation control valve boxes, making connection somewhat awkward. The road is wide asphalt in very good condition.

WiFi is strong. I measured 892.1 kB/s down. Sharing is enabled, and I saw several of my neighbors' computers available on mine, so make sure you have sharing set the way you want it. Verizon LTE works well.

Laundry: 2 top-loaders ($1.50), 2 dryers ($1 for 32 minutes).

There are 3 showers on the men's side, all clean and private, though not accessible.

Terrestrial broadcast TV: ABC CBS CW ION NBC PBS. No VHF weather radio.

The new owner (as of 2016 November) is friendly and helpful. We camped at Kanab RV Corral in a Motorhome.

This is a clean, quiet park. Sites are non-level dirt and gravel in various lengths. Some sites have trees, but little shade. Each site has a picnic table and a stone fire circle. Voltage is good. I'd avoid site 130, which is the steepest site I've ever seen anywhere. Roads are asphalt or dirt in very good condition. Interior roads are a maze.
Verizon LTE works well. WiFi is Tengo. It's strong. I measured 104.7 kB/s down.
Laundry: 14 working front-loaders ($2.25), 10 dryers ($1.50 for 31 minutes).
Showers are clean and private; the water is very soft.

Overall Rating:

This is a fairly clean park, though I found trash at my site. It's quiet, even on weekends. Sites are narrow, non-level, unshaded asphalt in very good condition. Each site has a picnic table and a fire ring with a grill. Voltage is good. Sewer connections are unthreaded. Roads are asphalt in very good condition. Verizon LTE works well.
Terrestrial broadcast TV: ABC CBS CW PBS.
Showers are private and accessible (roll-in). However, I found quite a few dead worms on the floor, the shower rooms are unheated, the water was never warm enough for me, there are no shower curtains, and it's impossible to adjust the shower head angle.
