Location is perfect for the Black Hills exploration. Lots of onsite activities are awesome for families: water slides, fishing pond, 2 pools & hot tubs, ice cream/pizza/fudge shop onsite, hiking/biking trails, horseback riding, basketball court, inflatable jumping pillow and more. Negatives: Basically NO access to wifi unless you sit right in front of the office building; 3 yrs we have been here, & I can't figure out why they will NOT fix this. Due to location, there is no or very little cell service for all carriers. May be able to text in special spots and an occasional phone call if you are standing in just the right spot. Hill City does have very good cell service for all carriers & is about 5 minutes away. Deluxe campsite bathrooms are run down and need remodel, but rest were pretty good in other areas.

Best family location in Aberdeen. Adjacent or right next to basketball courts, volleyball, bike trails, Storybookland, playgrounds, mini-golf, nice lake for swimming and fishing (under 16). No swimming pool, but lake was very nice with a pretty good beach. Go-Karts, climbing wall and acrobat trampoline setup were all extras that were fun. Did not use the Internet so don't know how that works or if there's a cost. It is a city run campground so some things are not setup quite the same as a private campground, but very good overall. 8 rating due to no cable TV, no shade where we were in the new section and no swimming pool. Sites were easy to get in and out and were pretty good size. Campfires are allowed. Paved sites were nice, but not real level like you'd expect.

Great location yet private feeling. Stayed over Memorial Day weekend. Awesome for families and not alike. They had a great play area and jumping pillow--no extra charge like most KOAs was a nice thing. Pool area was nice and was not huge but was just right & never overcrowded. Hot tub was for adults only which was great. Free pancakes for breakfast and owner was there each morning visiting and was very nice touch. Well maintained & clean all over. Very level sites. Cable was great. Internet was hit or miss which was only reason for a 9 rating vs 10.

Not good for family. Very little to do here. Checked in and a friendly man showed us to a site. Many sites do not have shade. Kid's play area small plastic play thing for toddlers that was very old. Once checked in was setting up camper and pulled pickup off to side in meantime. Hillbilly psycho pulled up yelling profanities & threatened to run me over if I didn't move my truck. Went up to front to complain. I was told he must be in a bad mood and he has lived there for 4 years. They said they'd talk to him. I came back to site to see why he was so upset for me to move. He wanted to drive down into a prairie area to let his dog run: yes that was it. He then went up to front and threatened my step-dad, pushed him then said he was going to get his gun. Nonetheless, we checked out and got our money back quickly and left. Campground not good setup for family with very little for amenities. Went to the local KOA: perfect with lots of amenities, free breakfast and very nice people. KOA was only $12 more a night.

Lots of amenities for families. Jumping pillow is without shade and a ways from most sites. Pool is a little small. We had a 4 wheeler (legally licensed for road use) and the owner/mgr obviously has a MAJOR problem with anyone except him driving around in anything but a car/truck. We would drive 5 miles/hr and he still kept stopping us complaining. Overall lower rating was because he was the most unfriendly person I have seen at a campground as he drove around constantly and kept telling people all over "too loud, slow down, stay off roads when playing, don't drive/play on hills etc." Funny thing: My son who's 8, was calling him "Mr. Crabby Pants" by the end of our stay. Amenities nice but owner/mgr was not. I probably won't be back.
