Napa Valley Expo RV Park, Napa, California

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here to enjoy Napa and tour the wineries. Excellent location convenient to everything. Clean, huge, level sites. Rather open and no specific amenities (pool, store, etc) but wasn't staying there for that. Wonderful, helpful camphosts. We were unfortunately there during the fires however the camphosts kept all aware of everything so we were certain to be safe. Additionally they provided accommodations for evacuees and first responders. Wonderful place and absolutely hope to return there. We camped at Napa Valley Expo RV Park in a Motorhome.

Gold Ranch Casino & RV Resort (formerly Terrible's Gold Ranch Casino), Verdi, Nevada

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Excellent park. Located on casino property but park stands alone. Clean, large level paved sites. FHU and cable. Wi-fi pretty good. Directly off I-80. Some traffic and train noise but certainly not bothersome. Excellent service from staff. Casino nice with good food at restaurants. Would absolutely stay here again. We camped at Gold Ranch Casino & RV Resort (formerly Terrible's Gold Ranch Casino) in a Motorhome.

Terry Bison Ranch Resort, Cheyenne, Wyoming

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed 2 nights. Could only give above rating because campground itself overpriced (PA price is only applicable one night but helped). Sites are very close together (can't possibly make campfire without burning down something and sewer hose of neighbor right next to our motorhome). Although it is very clean the campground is a bit rundown. That said, it's a shame because the ranch itself is delightful, the staff is wonderful, and the restaurant/bar on site has excellent bison burgers and steaks. There are ranch tours and horseback riding, and a unique playground/rides for kids that is active in summer. With a little work I think the campground could be "spruced up", not "resort" just a little less sad. Would definitely consider returning. We camped at Terry Bison Ranch Resort in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

An absolutely beautiful campground on lake. About 15 min drive from I-80. Site was level and huge. Electric only but easy access to water and dump. Wonderful helpful hosts and rangers. If not for travel schedule would've stayed for max 2 weeks without hesitation. We camped at Prairie Flower Recreation Area COE in a Motorhome.

Geneseo Campground, Geneseo, Illinois

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Found this park while traveling across country on rt 80. Only stayed for 1 night but would not hesitate to spend more time. Lovely quiet campground along the Hennepin canal. Grounds were immaculate and well-cared for. Not a "resort" with landscaping but plenty of natural mature trees. Had a minor issue with some low-hanging branches when we pulled into our site and the owner immediately came to our site to trim them up. Off the beaten path but this is a gem and would definitely return for a longer stay. We camped at Geneseo Campground in a Motorhome.

Nice state park located near the Bay Bridge Tunnel so can access Virginia Beach and Norfolk easily. Huge sites- not all level but can choose your own out of available sites. Fairly busy but quiet and very clean. Rangers are extremely nice. Would absolutely return. We camped at Kiptopeke State Park in a Motorhome.

Catherine's Landing, Hot Springs, Arkansas

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

Absolutely lovely park. Large level concrete sites w/FHU and cable. Beautiful pool and access to lake/river for boating, kayaking, or fishing. Nice helpful staff. Large restrooms/showers (shower curtains could have been a bit cleaner). Dog park and playground. Only small complaints would be terrible location of fire rings (way too close to rig), and our picnic table had rotted wood on bench so not very useable. Would most definitely stay here again. We camped at Catherine's Landing in a Motorhome.

Lucky Star Casino and RV Park, Concho, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

Not really an "RV Park" but an area of the parking lot with hookups. Called the day before and security stated was full but would find us a spot if needed. Very nice, accommodating staff. There were a few units there that obviously had stayed longer than the stated 3 day maximum, but there was one open spot for us to squeeze in. There was also a bit of an issue in the middle of the night with someone outside one of the campers requiring the police to respond - no idea what the relationship was but although disruptive it was handled so that was a good thing. Otherwise area was clean and only short drive from I-40. Can't really complain when the site was completely free. We camped at Lucky Star Casino and RV Park in a Motorhome.

AOK Camper Park, Amarillo, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $13.00
Overall Rating:

Small park. A bit rundown but looks like trying to update. Was clean, level enough, FHU (30 amp). No amenities or office staff (honor system) but a gentleman drove over as we were choosing spot to offer assistance. Very convenient to I-40 and for price made a good overnight stop. A bit noisy with planes, trains, and highway but surprisingly not that disturbing. If traveling through would use again. We camped at AOK Camper Park in a Motorhome.

Meteor Crater RV Park, Winslow, Arizona

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Stopped here to visit Meteor Crater. What a surprise! It is in the middle of nowhere, right off I-40 and we expected a "parking lot". Instead it is a lovely gated park, FHU, landscaped, and immaculate. The weather got a bit too windy to chance driving so we were happy to stay extra days. The sites are perfectly level and large. Open view with pretty sunsets while looking at snow capped mountains far in distance. Would have given 10 but no amenities - pool, etc. very nice staff. Would definitely return. We camped at Meteor Crater RV Park in a Motorhome.

Trailer Village (Concessionnaire Operated), Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Nice park with perfect location since right in Grand Canyon. Can walk, take shuttle, or drive (parking issues with that choice). Our site was very level, clean. Absolutely no frills. Very tight spaces but had no trouble getting our 40' rig in or out. Extremely nice staff at park. We camped at Trailer Village (Concessionnaire Operated) in a Motorhome.

Dead Horse Ranch State Park, Cottonwood, Arizona

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice state park. Had to juggle sites in order to stay for full 2 weeks. Every site was large, clean, and level enough. The staff is very friendly and helpful. There are no sewers so had to dump - located near entrance but not difficult to access. Depending on site there are some great views. Easily accessible to everything - groceries, restaurants, etc. Easy drive into Sedona and Jerome. Would definitely stay here again. We camped at Dead Horse Ranch State Park in a Motorhome.

The MotorCoach Resort, Chandler, Arizona

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

Lovely odd-designed park with excellent location - easy access to Chandler, interstate Hwy, casinos, Phoenix, etc. Immaculate large sites with full hook-up. Had no problem with wi-fi. Large clean laundry. Would like to give 10 but no amenities such as pool, hot-tub, etc. As others have pointed out, the office is a bit off the grounds and there is no security gate but it felt very safe. Free RV car wash available across the road for guests. Because of the proximity to I-10, there is definitely a lot of traffic noise as well as a race track across the interstate. Didn't bother us much, but could be very problematic for some. Would return if in area but probably not as destination. We camped at The MotorCoach Resort in a Motorhome.

Wild West Ranch and RV Resort (formerly John Wayne RV Ranch), Maricopa, Arizona

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Extremely dusty and not very attractive. Sites are large and level, and park was generally clean. Biggest issue was sporadic long-term residents among the sites with very old rundown units - broken windshields, certainly not "driveable" in any way, with piles of rusted bikes, coolers, chairs, etc shoved underneath but yet the park rules clearly stated that this was unacceptable. The dumpster was full (overflowing) for most of our 4 night stay. Located away from the sites but had to just pile trash on top of what was there. Nice little office store with wine and craft beers. There is a pleasant staff and they seem to be working to improve, so if that happens could be a nice place. Right now I would not return. We camped at Wild West Ranch and RV Resort (formerly John Wayne RV Ranch) in a Motorhome.

Balmorhea State Park, Balmorhea, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2017 - $17.00
Overall Rating:

The price is extremely misleading as they charge an extra $7/person/day for park entry - even if not leaving the park. That was an extra $14/day in addition to the $17 cost. Small state park campground with very odd arrangement of sites. More than one new arrival (including us) had to take a look around to determine how the sites were laid out. However although they appear small had plenty of room. Not very attractive but was clean and level. The bathrooms - not so much. There is a nice spring-fed pool there, as well as great mountain views. Covered patio at some sites (not ours), just picnic table at others - charge is same. Office staff very nice. We camped at Balmorhea State Park in a Motorhome.
