Teklanika Campground (NPS Campground), Denali National Park, Alaska

Date of Stay: August, 2011 - $16.00
Overall Rating:

It was nicer than expected for a crowded camp in a secluded area. Although the sites are quite close, there is some vegetation (little spruce trees) for separation and the area is gorgeous. The restrooms were new (2011) and very clean. We stayed there at the beginning of August and it was quite cold, specially during the night. Make the reservation quite in advance as it is normally full booked. From the campground you save one hour one way in your trip further into the park so it is worth it. We camped at Teklanika Campground (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.

Chugach State Park - Eklutna Lake, Anchorage, Alaska

Date of Stay: August, 2011 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

Quiet campground close to Anchorage. All sites are well separated with natural vegetation. It is very close to the beautiful Eklutna lake. We didn't have the time, but there are a lot of hikes in the area and kayak renting. No water connection (only a water pump) nor dump station. We camped at Chugach State Park - Eklutna Lake in a Motorhome.

Denali State Park, Byers Lake Campground, Trapper Creek, Alaska

Date of Stay: August, 2011 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful and quite campground in a very nice area. The sites are very well-separated and all of them have a fire-ring and a picnic table. As it is close to the lake, there are a lot of mosquitoes. There are nice hikes around the area. From the camping you can hike to a hanging bridge over Byers river and go around the lake. We camped at Denali State Park, Byers Lake Campground in a Motorhome.
