An excellent location and helpful staff. The view is fantastic. I could live there. Site was spacious, sunny, and gravel, with a picnic table. We camped at Las Cruces KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Midessa Oil Patch RV Park, Odessa, Texas

Date of Stay: May, 2015 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Big Problem: The water is not drinkable. After, I registered and paid, the desk clerk informed me the water is not drinkable and issued me a case of bottled water. She informed me that it was OK to shower in. But after viewing a nasty note from the owner that was taped to the bathroom mirror, I decided not to shower. The noted complained about tenant misbehavior such as "crapping in the showers". Occupancy was primarily oil field workers using the campground as a residence. If I were you, I would give this a pass. I am surprised this is a Good Sam Campground. From architecture of main building and cabins, this was obviously a KOA in the past. We camped at Midessa Oil Patch RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Flagstaff KOA, Flagstaff, Arizona

Date of Stay: April, 2015 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Staff did not honor the KOA membership promise of providing the best site available. I was assigned an unleveled site in an area without WiFi. They added a $10 surcharge to have television and only mentioned this as I was leaving the office to go to my site. (So, I used 6,500 KOA points to have TV.) The kicker was: As I walked around later that evening and the next morning, there were numerous level sites near the main building with a strong WiFi signal. I am also drafting a letter to KOA Corporate and the campground owner on this. We camped at Flagstaff KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Barstow / Calico KOA, Yermo, California

Date of Stay: April, 2014 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

This is an attractive CG. We stayed here previously about 8 years ago. And had no negative memories This time we were disappointing in several things. 1. We were assigned a poor site furthermost from the showers even though we are KOA Card Carriers and the facility was not even half full. We changed sites. 2. The WiFi was out of service. 3. The showers had a 6 minute limit per "button push" on wall boxes that were originally a coin-operated showers. Just kind of "chincy". We felt that $46 was steep. We camped at Barstow / Calico KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Wytheville KOA, Wytheville, Virginia

Date of Stay: September, 2011 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Quite nice. Plenty of pull throughs. They like to put overnights in the first row behind the office, but the next two rows are better, so go for them. We camped at Wytheville KOA in a Motorhome.

Cheerful Valley Campground, Phelps, New York

Date of Stay: September, 2011 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

I would not recommend this campground except for an overnight if you have no options. Basically, "cheap" and "greedy" show itself in the camp's ownership and management. Camping here is essentially field camping with site numbers and posts for organization. The 8.5 bathroom rating should be a 4.0. Only one litter/trash can in the park is at the office. A locked can with a hole in the top is labeled "RETURNABLE CANS AND BOTTLES ONLY". We reserved for electric and water, but the electric turned out to be 20 amp with AC not allowed and the breaker was not located on the post. No 50 amp service. Although the campground map shows two 50 amp sites, they are occupied by the camp's workkampers. And lastly, they charge guest fees of $5 Adults and $3 kids. An employee is at the entrance in a golf cart to make sure this easy money is collected. I asked about this and the employee said that the State of NY requires it (I do not believe this answer). We camped at Cheerful Valley Campground in a Motorhome.

Lakeside Campground, Windsor, New York

Date of Stay: August, 2011 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

My grade of 6 is based on this CG being suitable for overnight or short-term campers. It is probably an 8 for the full-time and seasonal occupants which are the norm here. If you are looking for an overnight stay, I recommend you continue on (or stop before). We stopped for an overnight and this CG turned out to be more residential than camping. We were assigned a muddy and inconvenient space, I presume because this one was set aside for the occasional overnight. They had Wi-Fi but we were too far away for a signal. We camped at Lakeside Campground in a Motorhome.

Hartwick Highlands Campground, Cooperstown, New York

Date of Stay: August, 2011 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Nice. One of the best I have stayed in. Extremely convenient to Cooperstown Dreams Park. The one glitch that keeps me from scoring this as a "10" is the GUEST FEES. If you are considering this Campground because you are meeting family for a week-long Youth Baseball event, I recommend that you address the GUEST FEES issue with the owners before booking. We camped at Hartwick Highlands Campground in a Motorhome.

Rocky Top Campground, Blountville, Tennessee

Date of Stay: August, 2011 - $32.00

Excellent for a couple. As good as another nearby park a bit further down the road (we've stayed at both) but not as "institutional" and full of kids. Owner took my reservation without credit card. We camped at Rocky Top Campground in a Motorhome.
