Midway Campground Resort (formerly Statesville East I-40 Winston-Salem, Statesville, North Carolina

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

We've stayed here a number of times over the past 10 years. Sometimes overnight passing through, sometimes for a few days, & once for a 4 month stay. Long-standing family owned CG, former KOA now private again. Great activities for kids. Pool, putt-putt, lake / fishing, game room. Small laundry. Some long-timers and many local families come for weekends. Pool also open to local public. Some sites are very shady; some water view. Reliable electric/water/sewer. Bumpy hard-packed gravel roads throughout. Staff is friendly & helpful (despite other reviews you might see - maybe he was having a tough day. True, no excuse, but don't let it keep you away). Nice location east of Statesville - which has every chain restaurant you can imagine. Great ice cream in CG store. We keep going back - so would definitely stay here again. We camped at Midway Campground Resort (formerly Statesville East I-40 Winston-Salem in a Travel Trailer.

OBX Campground, Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $70.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful campground close to the Outer Banks action, but off the beaten path. You'll pass rear side of Wright Bros Memorial to get there. Very large sites (triple the width of other CGs we've camped in). Beautiful green grassy areas. Entrance road is hardpacked gravel & bumpy; take it slow on entry & exit. Somewhat limited line of sight on exit due to curved road. Some shady sites. Grounds well kept; nice registration office. Staff very friendly & informative. Great referrals to restaurants & fresh fish market right down the road. Great central location for day trips to north & south ends of the OB. We stayed 4 nights & would definitely stay here again. We camped at OBX Campground in a Travel Trailer.

All Star RV Resort, Houston, Texas

Date of Stay: October, 2011 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We have enjoyed staying here since March while working in the Houston area. Previous reviews are accurate about the park having many permanent and long-term campers. But with a few exceptions, the long-termers keep their sites neat. The grounds are very well maintained with lots of shaded sites, which was very important to us. Landscaping and gazebos are also very nice. Restrooms, showers, pool, spa & gym facilities are kept immaculately clean on a daily basis. Laundry facilities well maintained & reliable. Park is located right next to Highway 59 & the "outer" toll road (Highway 8), so there is lots of background highway noise. But the campground itself is very quiet. People are friendly and I feel safe walking the dog in the dark. It is an urban oasis, within the city limits, and definitely the nicest park on the south side of Houston (and we checked them all!). Whether for an overnight stay while passing through, or for longer working stays where you need to be close in to the city, we would definitely recommend this park. We camped at All Star RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.
