Silverado RV Resort (formerly Desert Valley RV Resort), Eloy, Arizona

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $11.00
Overall Rating:

We stopped for the month of March while we returned home to Canada for personal business. As a result we spent less then 2 weeks actually resident in the park although our RV remained on site for nearly the full month. To begin with this park is very close to I10 off exit 203 and about 10 miles east of Casa Grande. Access is convenient although proximity comes with some road noise. The park is surrounded by a concrete wall with a locked gate and key pad access. Security was comforting. Navigation on entry and throughout the park is easy for big rigs. Sites are back-in and the local staff/manager assists your positioning on your site. Each site has a small concrete pad for chairs. RV sits on crushed rock along with your tow vehicle. Each site has a citrus tree of 5-7 ft at the rear of the site and some sites have an additional flowering shrub. Hookups are located at the rear of the site and as a result extra long sewer line hose will be required. No cable or internet is provided unfortunately but a local firm (Air Beam) provides internet based on 1 day, 7 day, 14 day, 21 day or 30 days arrangement which can be purchased on site over the internet. Rates run between $3.95 for single day to approx $1.30 per day for 30 day plan. We didn't subscribe and went to a local McDonald's for internet. All network TV channels are available over the air along with many others. Club houses are provided for a variety of resident coordinated activities, i.e. Cards, darts, billiards, bingo. A fitness Centre, Pickle ball courts, pool, hot tub, shuffleboard, horse shoes, etc are on site. Washrooms and showers were spotless. See website for more details. We found the managers and all snowbirds on site to be very, very friendly and welcoming. We would not hesitate to visit in the future if in the area. Monthly site rent was $350. Electric is metered and in addition to monthly rent at. .15 per kwt. Shopping, dining etc is avail in Casa Grande. We camped at Silverado RV Resort (formerly Desert Valley RV Resort) in a Motorhome.

Roughrider Campground, Minot, North Dakota

Date of Stay: May, 2015 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This park is just a bit over 1/2 mile off I-90 - exit 309. Easy access to the park entrance, sites, and exit. Presentation of the park and entrance is clean and pleasing. The folks who checked us in were very friendly and guided us to our site to ensure we were able to negotiate our way to our site. This park contains long term, seasonal, and overnight RV sites which are close together but roomy enough for awnings and slide-outs. Privacy is lacking, as there are no fences or shrubbery between sites. Grass and a mixture of dirt or crushed rock in between sites. A number of the long term RVs appeared to be construction of oil field workers but we did not identify any concerns or issues with that fact. There are large cottonwood trees throughout the park which provide shade and may hamper satellite TV during summer months. Pull-through pads are crushed rock and long enough to accommodate our 43' motor home with the towed vehicle attached. All the hookups were excellent. There is cable TV and Wi-Fi included and we found that both worked fine. Our stay was overnight and we did not utilize laundry, showers, or washrooms. We found park provided good value if one was visiting the city of Minot but the overnight rate is a bit pricey. We would stay again if passing through. We camped at Roughrider Campground in a Motorhome.

Ensure you know which exit route you are taking on leaving the park as some rigs have gotten in trouble using the entrance which is curved and sloped into the ditch.

Big Sky Camp and RV Park, Miles City, Montana

Date of Stay: May, 2015 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

This park is less then 1 mile off I-94 - exit 141. Easy access to the park entrance, sites, and exit. Presentation of the park and entrance is very basic. The gentlemen who checked us in, assumed he was the owner, was very friendly. This park contains full hookup RV sites some of which are appear to be used by workers in the area but the park seems to be kept up. Sites are close together but roomy enough for awnings and slide-outs. Privacy is lacking as there are no fences or shrubbery between sites. Pull-through pads are crushed rock and dirt and long enough to accommodate our 43' motor home with the towed vehicle attached. Grass in between sites. All the hookups were excellent but there is no 50 amp service. Our stay was overnight as we were travelling from points south to our home in Canada so unfortunately we did not explore the RV park or surrounding area. We found park provided basic value and we would stay again when passing through. We camped at Big Sky Camp and RV Park in a Motorhome.

This park is just a bit over 1 mile off I-90 - exit 309. Easy access to the park entrance, sites, and exit. Presentation of the park and entrance is clean and pleasing. The gentlemen who checked us in, assumed he was the owner, was very friendly and guided us to our site to ensure we were able to negotiate our way to our site. This park contains 50 full hookup RV sites that are close together but roomy enough for awnings and slide-outs. Privacy is lacking as there are no fences or shrubbery between sites. Pull-through pads are crushed rock and long enough to accommodate our 43' motor home with the towed vehicle attached. All the hookups were excellent. Cowboy RV Park, Pocatello, Idaho

Date of Stay: May, 2015 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

This park is just a bit over 1 mile off I-15 - exit 67. Easy access to the park entrance, sites, and exit. Presentation of the park and entrance is very clean and pleasing. This park contains 84 RV sites as part of a larger mobile home park but the RV sites are separated and you do not feel like you are jammed in between mobile homes. RV sites are close however so privacy is lacking as there are no fences or shrubbery. Pull-through pads are crushed rock and long enough to accommodate our 43' motor home with the towed vehicle attach. Grass in between the sites. All the hookups were excellent and extensive cable TV included. We found the Wi-Fi to be fine. Wagons West RV Park, Fillmore, Utah

Date of Stay: May, 2015 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Stopped overnight en route from points south and our home in Canada. Easy access to the park from I-15 and less then 1 mile from the interstate access (use exit #167). Entry, roadways and exit were very adequate for our motor home and attached tow vehicle. Pull-through site was very long (100') and lots of room for our 43' motor home and we did not have to detach our tow vehicle to enter or exit the site. Full hookups were easy to access and reliable. Site pad was gravel and dirt with grass in between sites. We would definitely stay overnight if passing through again. Unfortunately we did not have the time to explore the campground and area due to rain showers. We felt the site rent was a bit high but we had no complaints with facilities and convenience was the main draw for us. We camped at Wagons West RV Park in a Motorhome.

Pueblo El Mirage RV Resort (55+ park), El Mirage, Arizona

Date of Stay: October, 2013 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

This was our 3rd visit to this resort. The resort is on the edge of agricultural land and traffic to the resort is light once you leave the 101 loop on the west edge of Phoenix. Access to the resort is easy and internal roads easily accomodate big rigs. Staff are very friendly and accommodating. You must be guided to your site and they are all back-in but wide enough for modern and large RV's. Most of the hookups require longer hoses and cables to reach the RV connections. Each site has a gravel base with a cement pad to place chairs on. The premium sites have cement benches and picnic table as well(additional fee). We stayed for a month and our monthly rate of a premium site included WiFi at our site and extensive cable channels but also higher fees. The regular sites do not include cable and internet and thus require arrangements with local carriers. At this time of year the resort is just starting to receive snow birds and thus activities, of which there are many, were just kicking off for the winter season. We have found the winter activities to be very appealing and everyone in the park is very friendly and regularly encourage others to join in no matter the experience level. The gym, pool, pickle ball courts are all very nice. Although popular we had no trouble finding them available and accessable during our visit. Another benefit to this park is the very close proximity of the NHL arena and NFL stadium for pro-sports. Tickets were relatively cheap and easy to come by. We really this park however there is one downside. The Luke AFB situated a few miles to the west of this resort is a jet fighter training centre and frequently during the day F18's fly over the resort resulting in some significant noise levels at times. If an individual is disturbed by these such noise levels(some evening flights occur) they should be forewarned. We camped at Pueblo El Mirage RV Resort (55+ park) in a Motorhome.

Dakota Magic Casino & Hotel, Hankinson, North Dakota

Date of Stay: October, 2013 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

We used this RV park as an overnight. The park is less then 1/4 mi from the east side of the interstate. Use exit #1. The RV sites are located in the NW corner of the casino parking lot (paved) and the sites are easy to enter and there is no problem to maneuver. The RV sites are a mixture of pull through and back in and most are level although some have a slight slope. The pull through sites were approx 60' long and 10' wide with grass in between sites. Once you pick a site you go to the casino hotel lobby and give them your site number and pay the daily fee of $10 (taxes are additional - in Oct 2013 it was .76). Although WiFi is not available at the RV sites I was able to easily connect in the hotel lobby "hot spot" for free. We have stayed at this park once before and have found it very convenient. Come prepared as self contained units as no showers/toilets at RV sites. We camped at Dakota Magic Casino & Hotel in a Motorhome.

Mesa Spirit RV Resort (55+ park), Mesa, Arizona

Date of Stay: October, 2013 - $62.00
Overall Rating:

We attended this park while having some RV work done at a dealership nearby. Access to the park can be a challenge as the entrance way is not very visible and we drove by the entrance the first time we tried to locate the park. Once you locate the entrance there is a long drive way which takes you into the park and it easily accommodates big rigs. Internal roads are fine and also accommodate big rigs. On arriving we found the staff very friendly and we were guided to our site. The park is an older park and management has combined 2 of the original sites to allow modern RV's to have sufficient space. This is a good idea but the hookup connections are now somewhat awkward depending on the location of your RV hookups so be prepared to have longer hoses and cables then what you may expect. Our site was fully paved. The park is older and despite the number of sites there was only 2 pools which could be an issue if the park was full. It was not in Oct and the pools were not crowded. Bathrooms and showers which we saw were very nice. 50 channels of cable tv was free but WiFi at the site was not available without arranging for a provider at an additional cost. The park does offer free WiFi hotspots at the pool and office and while we were there the signal was very good. There appears to be lots of activities for winter guests. Daily rate was rather high for this time of year. A AAA/Good Same Discount reduced our fee by 10%. I felt the park was overpriced for this time of year. We camped at Mesa Spirit RV Resort (55+ park) in a Motorhome.

American RV Resort, Albuquerque, New Mexico

Date of Stay: October, 2013 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

We made an overnight stop at this Rv park as we traveled to AZ. Access from I-40 to the park is not difficult but easier if approaching from the west as the park access is on the south service road of I-40. If you approach from the east you leave I-40 and travel approx 3/4 mile to the park (all on paved roads). The park staff are very friendly and guide you to your site. Internal roads accommodate big rigs and several sites, including pull through sites, are designed for big rigs and some are long enough so you don't have to unhook the tow vehicle if just staying over night. The appearance of the park itself is very appealing and although we just over night it was attractive enough to encourage us to return in the future for longer stays. WiFi is free and worked fine. Cable was free as well and had several channels. We also received a free continental Sunday breakfast with our overnight stay. Excellent value for the money. We camped at American RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Lucky Star Casino, Clinton, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: October, 2013
Overall Rating:

The Lucky Star Casino is located approximately 1 mi off I-40 and provides an overflow paved parking lot for RV parking. Access to the casino is easy and we used N2274 Rd from the interstate. Actual address of the casino is 101 North Indian Hospital Road, Clinton, Oklahoma 73601. The overflow parking lot is paved and approximately 200 yards from the actual casino. There are many "dry" RV sites available. At the east and west end of the parking lot are located very large grey electrical boxes which supply 50 amp power for at least 2 backed-in RVs each, however the slope of the pavement is significant and we had difficulty leveling. As no other RVs were in the area we parallel parked at one of the boxes and had no leveling issues. The casino offers the RV sites for free and thus it is a good overnight stop. Staff were very friendly and security patrols were evident. A shuttle service will take you to the casino. The casino also provided my wife and I each with a $10 gambling credit. We camped at Lucky Star Casino in a Motorhome.

Vines RV Resort, Paso Robles, California

Date of Stay: May, 2013 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

This is a brand new RV Resort located right along Hwy 101 north as you leave Paso Robles with very easy access to and from the highway. Access to the resort is easy with the exit being narrower at the gate but very manageable with a "big rig". We stayed for two nights and got a promotional rate (normally $65-75 depending on site). Sites accommodate any size big rig, however site pads could have been wider and site entry could have been designed to have a flared access to accommodate bigger RVs. Site pads are very nice decorative stamped concrete and all hookups are convenient. Cable is extensive and Wi-Fi is fast and works very well. The on-line registration charged me $3.50 so customers should be aware of that service charge. Some traffic noise but as trees mature along highway edge that should lesson, and the owners are considering further sound barrier. Facilities were immaculate, which we examined from outside but did not use washrooms or showers. The resort has an on-site Magnolia Lounge which can be viewed online. All and all a very nice RV Resort with many, many things to do in the area. We camped at Vines RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Winchester Bay RV Resort, Winchester Bay, Oregon

Date of Stay: May, 2013 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

This RV resort is located on Umpqua River, a short distance from the river's entry to the Pacific Ocean. The resort has sites facing the ocean or the marina/harbor and is quite beautiful. Access and exit to highway 101 is easy for "big rigs" and the resort entrance is approximately 1/2 mile from the highway. The resort sits on the edge of the Winchester Bay harbor area which gives the resort a very picturesque location. Registration is smooth and all roads through the resort are wide and easy to maneuver on. Sites are angled with back in or drive in options as well as pull-throughs. Site pads are asphalt and can accommodate all size RVs. All hookups are convenient. The cable is extensive and Wi-Fi is fast and works fine. The facilities are modern and clean. The scenery is beautiful and seafood for dining or to purchase fresh is within walking distance around the harbor. A great experience. We camped at Winchester Bay RV Resort in a Motorhome.
