Lakehead Boat Basin, Duluth, Minnesota

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

Location, Location says it all. Right in the marina near the aerial lift bridge and port to watch many "laker" freighters and other boats coming and going, loved it. Easier to get in and out than expected. The sites are all back and reasonable width, but not huge. Very good 50 amp power and water pressure, did not opt for sewer hookup. I am sure the area is very very busy in the summer, but September was perfect. Tons to do in the area, many restaurants, pubs, stores and Corp of Engineer Lake Superior Museum. Duluth is a great city with lots to do. Would stay here again, but more likely to go up north on North Shore/Hwy 61 to explore that beautiful area. We camped at Lakehead Boat Basin in a Motorhome.

Apostle Islands Area Campground, Bayfield, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

This park is now for sale, which explains the lack of investment in making this park the best in Bayfield. So few options in the area and none above average. This is an older park, tight turns/campsites, hanging branches, 30 amp only, sites old gravel with some just dirt and gravel, many not level. Would not stay here again if possible. Would go to Legendary Resort & Casino Campground, at least was right on beautiful lake Superior, but nothing else to brag about for the campsites. We camped at Apostle Islands Area Campground in a Motorhome.

Bayfield has so much to offer, except good campgrounds it seems for a 32' motorhome. Took the Apostle Island Cruise which was very enjoyable. Eat at the fantastic The Fat Radish, twice.

Central State Park at Lake Arcadia, Edmond, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed overnight based on other reviews and not sure what changed, but it was one of the dirtiest and seemingly least managed parks we have ever stayed at. Tried to call ahead on a Sunday to make sure space was available, but message said park office closed on weekends. Pulled up to the entrance station and only one person working on a VERY busy hot Sunday, but she did a really good job of trying to manage the chaos of both entry and exit windows. Pat her on the back. Process to knowing site availability is departing camper stopping and telling them, which meant waiting in line for her. Check out is 5 pm, which is crazy late for most campers. Our site was strewn with trash and it looked like the entire park has/is not cleaned regularly. Great volunteer opportunity with Boy/Girl Scouts and other organizations who care about the outdoors. Looked in the bathhouse, which was poorly lighted and not something I would ever consider using. Water hydrants can be a 1,000 feet apart and campers permanently hook up to them running 100s of ft of hose, making access almost impossible. Picnic table area slab was covered in dirt/gravel from rain. RV paved area in crumpling in big junks from run-off and lack of maintenance. No camp fire sign up, but ignored by many so not enforced. Seems like a wonderful asset, but will never stay here again. We camped at Central State Park at Lake Arcadia in a Motorhome.

Peculiar Park Place RV Park, Peculiar, Missouri

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Needed an overnight stop and this served our purpose. Mostly full-time residents, but the park is very well managed keeping it clean and well maintained. The owner checked us in, escorted us to our site and was very friendly. Wish the interior roads were paved to cut down on dust, but that is just me. Plenty of restaurants, stores and gas stations in the area if desired. Would stay here again if in the area. We camped at Peculiar Park Place RV Park in a Motorhome.

Stage Stop RV Park, Ozark, Missouri

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Needed an overnight stop and based on reviews of the Springfield area, this seemed best for our needs. Basically a big gravel parking lot with very close sites, but good FHU, felt safe and clean. Not very busy when we there, maybe because the rate is too high for what it is. Maybe more successful with a rate in the low to mid $20s and improved signage. We camped at Stage Stop RV Park in a Motorhome.

Very good for our overnight stop. Very friendly office hosts. Nice little store and local visitor information. Free donuts and coffee in the morning. Road noise not a huge issue for us. Clean and safe stop. Fairly easy off/on I-10 access. RV size gas stations (Pilot/FJ, etc.) close by. We camped at Amarillo Ranch RV Park in a Motorhome.

The Ranch - Escapees Park (members only), Lakewood, New Mexico

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $21.00
Overall Rating:

Camped here to visit Carlsbad Caverns and liked The Ranch so much stayed a second night just to enjoy the peace. Very well maintained, very friendly and managed Escapee Park. Easy off/on from Hwy 82 going north and south. The Caverns are approximately 50 miles south. Both Carlsbad and Artesia have plenty of restaurants and stores. Would absolutely stay here again when in the area. We camped at The Ranch - Escapees Park (members only) in a Motorhome.

Desert Paradise Mobile Home & RV Village, Alamogordo, New Mexico

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

More of a F/T mobile home park than RVer's place, but it was closests to White Sands National Monument where I wanted to do early sunrise and sunset photography. For that purpose it was very good as any of the other RV parks are no where near the Monument. It was quite and safe and the FHU systems worked just fine. Easy access off/on Hwy 70. We camped at Desert Paradise Mobile Home & RV Village in a Motorhome.

7th Ranch RV Camp, Garryowen, Montana

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Got one of the last electric and water hookups at the end of a hot day. Fortunately we did not need septic and they do not have a dump station. This is a very well planned and managed park. The staff was very friendly, helpful and professional. Even though built on a hill, the sites are level and our pull-through site was easy to enter and exit. Even had a tree that provided some shade. Shower/bathroom facility was very clean and very well set-up. We camped at 7th Ranch RV Camp in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Little Big Horn Battlefield National Monument is absolutely worth the time and history to learn about what really happened.
Nice little hike and view at the top of the hill to see where the indians lived and roamed before the government took it from them.

Cedar Shore Resort, Oacoma, South Dakota

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

Overnight stop only. Easy access from/to I-90. Great location right on the Missouri River. First pull through gravel site was on slight hill with no way to get the rig leveled and had to unhook to move because trees at the end of the site were so bad. Moved us to a concrete back-in site that worked well. We camped at Cedar Shore Resort in a Motorhome.
