Safe Harbor RV Resort at Elm Hill, Nashville, Tennessee

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $75.00
Overall Rating:

Camped in a 35 foot 5th wheel w 3 slides. Back-in site 69 is level concrete with somewhat cramped parking for truck. No shade, small grass patch. Neighbors are close & to rear is a low stone retaining wall, above which is lane for the higher row of RV sites. Views of water from front; open picnic tables under trees near water. Lanes are paved & narrow. Laundry & shower (2 showers) houses are clean. Did not use pool, but appeared well maintained. Small playground. Good AT&T cell, WiFi, cable. Staff was pleasant. Noisy airport early morning; noisy bar music from across water Fri night. Lacks some of the incidental services one expects at an expensive park; e.g., TV listing, clear signage, camp store, 10 mph exceeded, etc. We camped at Safe Harbor RV Resort at Elm Hill in a Fifth Wheel.

Two Rivers Landing RV Resort, Sevierville, Tennessee

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

Back-in site 49 is level concrete, long enough for 35 foot 5th wheel & truck parking. Small grass patch to rear with two small shade trees. Beyond grass is a rail fence, quiet road, & field. Site is wide enough for three slides; however, two small landscape trees overhang site entrance way making it difficult to back in without scraping rig. Rather high curb at site entrance. Very narrow sites are separated from each other by a row of low landscape shrubs. Lane is paved. Shower & laundry houses very clean. Nice social room, small playground, porch rockers overlook river. Pool was closed for season. Staff very friendly. We camped at Two Rivers Landing RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Creekwood Farm RV Park, Waynesville, North Carolina

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Back-in site 95 is level, gravel, with small size grass patch, & small gravel patio spot. Tree to rear provides some shade throughout day. Camped in a 35 foot 5th wheel w 3 slides. Gravel/dirt mix lanes. Nearby mulch yard is noisy from before dawn to mid afternoon. Quiet at night. Pretty stream at back border of RV park with public area to picnic/sit. Laundry & bath houses are very well maintained. Small social room with book exchange. Good cable TV & AT&T cell coverage. WiFi is good. Sites are very narrow with rear campers also very close. Staff leads to, & assists, parking. Most campers appear to be retirement age, no playground equipment, campfire rings are $5.00 per day (lots of campfire smoke hangs over campground in evenings). Staff is very friendly & helpful. We camped at Creekwood Farm RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Asheville West KOA, Candler, North Carolina

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

Site 333 is flat, dirt/gravel mix w/o grass. To rear is a steep, tree covered downward hillside. Dirt lanes. Camped in a 35 foot 5th wheel w 3 slides. Site is very narrow w barely enough room for parallel parking truck. At bottom of hillside is a TA truck stop where tractor trailer rigs make noise night & day. I 40 is close & there is highway noise from it. A few tree branches need to be trimmed; they brushed top of rig. Shower & laundry houses are very clean. Small, clean game room w exchange library, games, puzzles, & TV. Several walking trails & large grass areas. Did not use pool, but it appeared very well maintained. About 25 cable TV stations & good AT&T cell coverage. WiFi in this section of campground did not function due to a lightning strike earlier in the season. Staff is very friendly & helpful. We camped at Asheville West KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Lakewood RV Resort (55+ park), Flat Rock, North Carolina

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

Rate reflects a monthly one. Site 665 is nearly flat, packed gravel, end spot with small grass patches both sides and back. Concrete patio. Shade from well-trimmed trees except in late afternoon on patio side. Camped in 35 foot 5th wheel with three slides. Site is VERY tight between raised concrete patio and water/cable pedestal. Minimal space for pick-up truck. Neighbor to patio side is close & neighbor to back is staggered, but close. Woods beyond quiet vehicle lane on utility side. Quiet. Cable (and OTA) TV limited to main broadcast, church, and shopping stations. WiFi is open, but generally good. AT&T cell coverage is generally good. Laundry and bath houses are spacious and very clean. Large pool is well-maintained. No ice machine. Office closed on Sundays. Scheduled social activities. We camped at Lakewood RV Resort (55+ park) in a Fifth Wheel.

Whispering Hills RV Park, Georgetown, Kentucky

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

Camped in a 35 foot fifth wheel on premier pull through site 232. Site is gravel, requires board to level, adequate room for truck, no shade. Site is an end site so has slightly larger grass patch than other premier sites. Neighbors on non awning side are close; no neighbors across lane to nice rural view. WiFi is available on site despite staff comment to the contrary, but very slow. About 20 OTA TV stations. Interior lanes are dusty gravel. Some non premier pull through sites have no grass. Laundry & shower houses are clean. Book exchange & DVD libraries. Pool was closed for season. Large pond, open pavilion, playground, paved basket ball court. Distant traffic noise & dark at night. Staff is very pleasant. We camped at Whispering Hills RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Huntington / Fox Fire KOA, Milton, West Virginia

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Camped in a 35 foot fifth wheel on pull through site 9. Site is gravel, nearly level, with room for truck, very close to neighbors, & has a grass patch. No shade. Interior roads are paved. Campground is adjacent to I 64 & noisy; however, sites close to office are away from interstate & quieter. No cable at site 9, but there are about 20 OTA channels. WiFi & AT&T cell coverage both good. Bath & laundry houses clean. Pond with beach for swimming, but water color is very unappealing. Basketball hoop & playground. Staff is friendly & directs camper to site. We camped at Huntington / Fox Fire KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Mylan Park, Morgantown, West Virginia

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Camped in a 35 foot fifth wheel in unnumbered back-in site. "Campground" is a large paved parking lot with an island of a few full utility hook-ups at rear of sites. Sites are level with lots of room for tow vehicle. About 18 good over the air TV stations; no WiFi. Parking lot is lit with high utility pole lights until very early morning. Quiet at night. There is a community center at edge of lot that was open until late evening & which has restrooms.. No laundry. Easy I 79 access. We camped at Mylan Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Western Village RV Park, Carlisle, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

Camped in a 35 foot fifth wheel on back-in site 182. Required one board to level. Site is very close to neighbors, as are most, with narrow grass patch between sites. Site is long with room for truck. There is a large tree on both sides of entrance to site-be mindful of limbs when backing in. Some shade at drive entrance. Sewer & water are in rear of site & rather far from mid rig hook ups. Behind site is large grass field with pool, laundry & shower house close by. Lanes are well graveled & easy to travel. AT&T cell coverage is good. Over the air TV with about 10 stations. Bath house & laundry are clean. Pool was closed for season. Miniature golf, rec room with arcade games & billiard table, bounce pad, paved basket ball court, volley ball field, tether ball, playground. Fellow campers complained of Interstate noise, but it is distant. Park is pretty with lots of grass & trees. Quiet & dark at night. Staff is pleasant. Low rating due to narrow site. We camped at Western Village RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Deerpark/ New York City NW KOA, Godeffroy, New York

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $57.00
Overall Rating:

Camped in a 35 foot fifth wheel on site B 25. Required one board to level. Site is wide, long, grassy, with large trees on side of site that provide good shade until late afternoon. Plenty of room for truck. Lanes are gravel, dusty, & with a few pot holes to avoid. Trees are trimmed high, but some sites have roots with which to contend. Good AT&T cell coverage & WiFi. No cable TV but can rent satellite box. Bath house has clean & private (low flow) showers. Laundry house is clean. Did not use pool but looks well maintained. Rock climbing wall, bounce pad, water slides, miniature golf, tether ball, billiard table, paddle boats. Snack bar, but closed for season. Adjacent to pretty, shallow Neversink River. Small ponds on grounds. Prompt free shuttle to, & pick up from, NYC/NJ train platform ten minutes from campground. Quiet & dark at night. Staff is friendly. RV park is a bit shabby, but grew on us during our two week stay. We camped at Deerpark/ New York City NW KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Camped in a 35 foot fifth wheel on site 158. Site is level, very wide & long, grassy, with high well trimmed trees providing light shade on site. Plenty of room for truck. Lanes are gravel with some dust; however, long site provided protection from billows of dust. Wi-Fi is excellent as is AT&T cell coverage. Good cable TV. Champlain Adult Campground, Grand Isle, Vermont

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

Camped in a 35 foot fifth wheel on site 2 that has glimpses of lake views. This is an adult-only RV park. Site is level, wide, grassy, with well trimmed trees providing some shade on site. Packed gravel beneath rig spot. Plenty of room for truck. Lanes are hard packed, dustless stone. There is no WiFi, although can walk to owner's home, stand outside to get weak connection. No cable TV & electric is 30 amp. About 8 over the air antenna stations, 1 of which is French language & 3 are PBS. Good AT&T cell coverage. Bath house is very minimal, but clean. Two shower stalls & shared dressing room are very cramped; coin-operated with one quarter providing 4 or 5 minutes of water. Laundry house has 1 washer & 1 dryer. There is a ledge rock "beach" from which it is possible to swim in lake, place small lawn chairs, & offload kayaks. Campground is very well-kept, pretty, dark at night & quiet (light sleepers may be disturbed by the 24-hour chugging ferry boats that dock close to the campground about every 20 minutes). Unlike stated in review from a previous year, campfires are now allowed. Check or cash only payment. Staff is pleasant. We camped at Champlain Adult Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

Camped in a 35 foot fifth wheel on site 112. Led to site. Site long enough for rig & truck. Across lane from woods & non-awning side of site is distant from neighbor, & grassy. Some well trimmed trees provide shade. Required one board to level. Site is large, clean stone with grass, nice picnic table. No AT&T cell coverage (outside park & up road got coverage), slow WiFi, six antenna TV channels. Very quiet & dark at night. Restrooms well maintained. Did not use pool, but looked clean. Nice walking areas in woods & around large campground. Large playground, basketball & volleyball courts, horseshoes, miniature golf, fishing ponds. Ohio route 97 from Interstate 71 is rather narrow & is well marked. Watch for Bunker Hill street sign past Butler village. Campground is on the right if coming from route 97.
