Hilltop RV Park, Fort Stockton, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

Tried this park for the first time (We usually stay at Ft Stockton RV on the east side). This park is a gravel parking lot. It was very windy when we were here (as it often is in this area), hence very dusty. Most of park taken up by construction workers, but quiet. Big rig pull-thru was too short for our 40' MH with toad hooked up. No cable TV. We will not stay here the next time we overnight in this area. We camped at Hilltop RV Park in a Motorhome.

Pontchartrain Landing, New Orleans, Louisiana

Date of Stay: November, 2011 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

New since Katrina CG. First assigned site was much too small for a 35' fifth wheel and tow vehicle, but we were moved to a larger pull-through site at same price. Staff was friendly and helpful. Shuttle to French Quarter is handy, but only makes 3 round trips a day. Negatives are surrounding neighborhood is run-down industrial with many derelict structures, and the road in is very rough. Park is security fenced and gated, but I would not feel comfortable outside the fence after dark. Sites are gravel as are interior roadways, which are narrow. All said, still probably the best choice near the French Quarter. We will probably stay here in the future because of its easy access via shuttle to Brennan's. We camped at Pontchartrain Landing in a Fifth Wheel.

Lake Osprey RV Resort, Elberta, Alabama

Date of Stay: November, 2011 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

One of the nicest parks we have stayed in. All concrete, level pads. Excellent staff. Nice golf course adjacent to property. Only reasons not a 10, is it is only partially completed and CR 95 access is narrow and without shoulders. We will definitely stay here again if in the area. We camped at Lake Osprey RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Coushatta Casino Resort Red Shoes RV Park, Kinder, Louisiana

Date of Stay: November, 2011 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

Very clean well maintained park. Kind of a "parking lot" style park, but reasonably large sites and was very quiet while we were here. Shuttle to the casino is very handy. Our site did slope front to back, but was no real problem. Very good, golf course affiliated with park: $25 senior rate the day I played. We will stay again when in the area. We camped at Coushatta Casino Resort Red Shoes RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Bristol / Kingsport KOA, Blountville, Tennessee

Date of Stay: October, 2011 - $54.00
Overall Rating:

It is very overpriced for what you get. There is a difficult entrance and exit from property onto a county road. The interior roads narrow and very steep in places. While directing me into a back-in site, the escort would have backed me into a small windmill on my blind side had my wife not seen it. The site was gravel and the hook-ups were not readily accessible. It is a very noisy park and we were put near the playground. We will not stay here again. We camped at Bristol / Kingsport KOA in a Fifth Wheel.
