IB Magee Beach Park, Port Aransas, Texas

Date of Stay: November, 2011 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This is a county park, and it is really nice. Only cons would be the lack of shade (each site has a small shelter/lean to) and the issues with red tide. Apparently it was very 'high' the night we were here. Both adults felt the effects, and both dogs showed symptoms. Stayed inside. Folks were friendly, and there is a trolley to hop on from this area to go around in town. Very handy if you have no tow vehicle. Would definitely come here again when red tide is not so prevalent. WI-FI was fantastically fast. We camped at IB Magee Beach Park in a Motorhome.

Colonia del Rey RV Park, Corpus Christi, Texas

Date of Stay: November, 2011 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

We pulled in and the staff were quite friendly. The park is clean and we decided to stay for a week. By the 2nd day we regretted paying for a week. Wi-Fi was slow on a consistent basis. Dog area is very small, and every time we were there (4 to 5 times a day) there was waste from other people's dogs. We stopped using it. Bathrooms were iffy: clean 'enough' for me but not my partner. Showers were adequate if you went shortly after it was cleaned. Water pressure was very low; toilets had trouble flushing at times and twice I could barely wash my hands of soap. We did not have a tow vehicle, and there was really nothing to see in walking distance or biking (schools and fast food areas); however, only 3 blocks from major food store HEB. Lastly this isn't a complaint but more of a concern. One resident has many cats (at one point I saw at least 4 full grown and 5 kittens) and cat bowls of food/water on the site. Cats started to come onto our site and of course excited our dogs at times. Went to the office, and they said we are the first to complain. We informed them it's a concern as well as a health issue to have so many stray cats attracted to that site. They didn't appear to want to address the issue. Kittens are cute, though. We camped at Colonia del Rey RV Park in a Motorhome.
