Gila Hot Springs RV Park & Vacation Center, Gila Hot Springs, New Mexico

Date of Stay: January, 2015 - $20.00

Level sites situated one behind the other; Restrooms/Showers were not as clean as one would expect; horses wander through the campground at night. We camped at Gila Hot Springs RV Park & Vacation Center in a Fifth Wheel.

City of Rocks State Park, Faywood, New Mexico

Date of Stay: January, 2015 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

There are two sections to the park. Full hookup sites are located close to the Visitors Center and are standard parallel sites. The section with no hookups is widely spread out. Not all spaces are totally level. Nice hiking trails, really clean toilets, beautiful night sky and funny shaped rocks. $10.00 for without hookups and $14.00-$18.00 with hookups. We camped at City of Rocks State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Smith Lake Park, Algona, Iowa

Date of Stay: May, 2014 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

Smith Lake is one of the many County Conservation Parks in Iowa. It was quiet and peaceful with shady sites, mostly back-in. The lake was great and there were several nice hiking trails around it. We did not visit the Nature Center, but it looked inviting. The bathrooms were older and not well-lit; they really needed painting. We would stay again because of the lake and the ambiance. We camped at Smith Lake Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Spearfish City Campground, Spearfish, South Dakota

Date of Stay: May, 2014 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful campground in a great location. Across the street from a historic fish hatchery and on a creek with a walking and biking trail next to it. The sites are gravel with lots of good grass. Quiet location. Some 'premium' sites available directly on the creek. Some grassy sites along a smaller creek with no hook-ups. We would stay here again. We camped at Spearfish City Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Douglas KOA, Douglas, Wyoming

Date of Stay: May, 2014 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

This is an excellent KOA! The sites are long and wide with well-placed hookups. The dog area is large and fenced with great grass. It is far enough from I-25 that noise is not much of a factor. For as large of a park as it is, it is exceptionally well-cared for, clean, neat, and friendly. The bathrooms were clean and had real shower heads! We would absolutely stay here again. We camped at Douglas KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Salina KOA, Salina, Kansas

Date of Stay: January, 2013 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Clean and well laid-out KOA Campground. Restrooms, showers and laundry were clean. Internet was free, but really slow. For example, we could not load a slide show from Goggle News (We closed the window after 3 minutes.). There were only 8 other campers in the campground so it was probably not a over-use issue. Our other problem was no outside lights at the restrooms so we had to take a flashlight in order to see the numbers on the code machines. Seemed a bit pricey for only electricity and no other amenities. We camped at Salina KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Columbia River RV, Portland, Oregon

Date of Stay: May, 2012 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

The park is well maintained and orderly. The sites are concrete pads that are perfectly level. We were a late check-in and the available sites were clearly posted. We had to telephone the emergency number on the office for the rest room codes. Wi-Fi is not available to late check-ins. Other than that the park is pleasant and the long term guests friendly. It was far enough from the airport that the departing planes were fun to watch. We camped at Columbia River RV in a Fifth Wheel.

Bear Lake Campground, Routt National Forest, Yampa, Colorado

Date of Stay: September, 2011 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

Campground is at 9,700' and twelve miles up a somewhat rough gravel road. It is located in a mixed spruce/fir forest with mostly shaded sites. Great trout fishing at three lakes in the area (Bear Lake is 100 yds. from the campground) as well as numerous hiking trails, including the infamous Devil's Causeway. Sites are wide and level; campground was refurbished in 2002. Water is from a mountain spring and was great. Vault toilets are new and clean. We camped at Bear Lake Campground, Routt National Forest in a Fifth Wheel.
