Beautiful park located about 5 miles from I-57. Lots of wildlife in the area. Check-in was very pleasant. Friendly folks at gate. Good paved roads wide enough for big rigs to maneuver. Site access is angled for easy backing. The 30 amp service was very reliable. The kind and considerate folks a few sites down allowed their yellow lab to run free for the two days we were here. It made it impossible for us to walk our dog (on a leash) in that area of the park. I told the park attendant but never saw a ranger during our stay. Verizon and ATT phone service worked fine. Had 10-12 over the air channels. Was able to get a satellite signal through the treetops but had to work for it.

Fairly tight roads leading through park. Can be very difficult to back into sites due to trees and posts. A few sites are advertised as "drive thru" but that can be deceiving. Our site was supposed to be a "drive thru" but it had a fire pit in the middle of the drive. I inquired about moving the empty fire pit two feet so I could drive in but was told "absolutely not". The employee told me "it was my problem" on how to get my trailer into the site. Had to back my 5th wheel up a steep incline that caused the trailer to almost hit the top rail of the truck bed. The bathroom was old but clean. Nice location on lake but you need to be very aware of the site you pick if you have a rig over 26 ft. Satellite reception is possible depending on the site. No problem with Verizon phone service. The park WiFi worked well. About 6-7 miles from I-24. Not really convenient. Probably would not stay here again due to uncertainty associated with trees and site locations.

The park is about 10 miles off of Hwy 51. You will go through Merrill and watch your speed (mostly 25mph). Definitely a speed-trap town. The park has a very large station for registration/check-in. Staff was friendly. Roads are very narrow with a lot of low hanging limbs. I would not attempt with a large motorhome. The main road in is very narrow with large trees on both sides. Not a good place for two large rigs to meet. Campground sites are dirt/sand with a picnic table and a fire ring. They are somewhat level. Will have difficulty backing large rigs into some sites. Again, watch for low hanging limbs. Electric at site. Water stations scattered around campground. Dump station on the way out. Bathroom/showers are nasty. Showers are very grubby and not sanitary. Looks like they have not been cleaned all summer. There are two showers in men’s side for the entire campground. ATT phone reception is spotty. Verizon is better. Satellite signal practically impossible due to heavy forest cover. Campground is very busy throughout the summer. Almost everyone is local folks and they love to burn wood. Expect LOTS of smoke day and night. The State of Wisconsin requires all vehicles entering state parks to purchase a park pass. For non-residents, it is $10 per day or $35 annually. This fee is NOT included in your camping fee. I will not stay here again.

Rate is Passport America. Nice open RV Park with very nice facilities. Restrooms/bathrooms are first-rate, some of the best I have used. Wonderful tile showers. These areas are very clean. Very friendly folks at check-in. Great first impression. It is obvious the owners care about the park. Sites are paved and level. Utility hookups are very convenient. Satellite reception is no problem. AT&T reception good. Just 1/2 mile off I-20. There is a little road noise from the interstate but it is negligible. I would definitely stay here again.

Very convenient to I-20. Super friendly folks at check-in. Park is well maintained and clean. Showers, bathrooms, and laundry room are some of the cleanest I have seen. Sites are somewhat close together but are laid out in a very easy to navigate format. I would definitely stay here again. Rate reflects Passport America membership.

This is a very big park but it has definitely seen better days. There are lots of long-termers here. Overnighters park in a parking lot with utilities at the back. All sites are back-in for overnighters. Cable and Wi-Fi worked well. Bathhouse could use some upgrading. Doors on stalls would not lock and showers were scummy. This park was once a gem but it is on the decline. Friendly staff at gate check-in. A little slow on processing our check-in. OK for an overnight stop. Convenient to I-20.

Very efficient and friendly check-in process. Large park that is well-maintained. Long-term residents in one section of park but it is clean and maintained. Large, level pull-through sites. Very good cable TV and great Wi-Fi reception at site. Satellite TV and cell service were no problem. Plenty of room to walk your pet. Bathhouses were very clean. Showers were cleaned regularly with bleach. The only negative is the drag strip across the road. We were here on Sunday afternoon and the drag strip was quite noisy but it ended about 6 pm. Overall, great park for the price. Will definitely stay here again.

Park staff is very friendly and professional. Campground has too many RV in such a tight area. Very little room to maneuver a rig. Saw several folks hit posts trying to back rigs in. Any trailer over 30' is problematic. If you check-in in the afternoon, you may have to wait 15 minutes or so while the person before you unhooks their rig. Not possible to stay connected here. I understand that part of camping is burning firewood but folks burned firewood all day and night. Never saw this much wood burned in other campgrounds. Everything inside smelled of wood smoke for days. Lots of unsupervised kids and dogs running around in a small area. Bathhouse was clean. No cellular reception and no over the air TV. Satellite TV did work fine. Would not stay here again.

A big park with lots of RV spaces, but there is very adequate space between each site. Park is off the beaten path and campground is several miles inside the park. Level sites with adequate space to back into. There are some pull-throughs. Very quiet atmosphere. Regular patrols by park personnel. Bathhouses were cleaned regularly. Some sites are heavily treed and some fairly open. We had 3-4 trees, but satellite reception was not a problem. Limited cellular reception. Overall, nice park, friendly staff. Will stay here again.

Electric only at site. Water and dump station available, $6 fee to dump. Sites are gravel/grass and somewhat level. Very quiet park that is clean and well maintained. A major road parallels the park but it is surprisingly quiet. There is a train track on the backside of the park but you can barely hear any train noise. No train noise through the night. Lots of large pine trees surround all RV sites but it is possible to get a satellite signal for TV in certain sites. Phone reception is good (AT&T). Bathhouse is OK but could use an upgrade. Also, there is no heat in the bathhouse and the overnight temperature was 35 degrees. I would stay here again.

A very quiet park located in a small valley just off the highway. Very friendly owners. The park has a few long-term residents but everyone was friendly and quiet. The only negative was the bathroom/showers. They were adequate but could use an upgrade. Also, there was no heat in the bathroom/shower building even though the overnight temperature was 38 degrees. The $16 fee was with Passport America discount. I would stay here again.

Date of Stay:

The park is average at best. Not bad for an overnight stopover, especially with the Passport America rate of $18. If you check-in after hours, you have to go upstairs to the bar and find someone that has a few minutes to process you in. The bar workers were very friendly but the process is a little awkward. The sites are gravel and fairly level. The park has many trees but it was still possible to get a good satellite signal for TV. The biggest negative to this park was the bathroom/shower facilities. They could definitely use a good cleaning. Better yet, they need to be updated. I would stay here again for an overnight stop but nothing more.

I have used this park often in the past while traveling to/from Alaska. The park is now full of long-term residents with few spaces available to overnight travelers (a problem for Alberta and British Columbia travelers). Friendly greeting at check-in. Lots of vehicle noise from residents leaving the area beginning at 4 am. The biggest negative issue is the Wi-Fi. You have access to Wi-Fi at your site but it is SLOW. Upon check-in, I explained that I teach college courses and really needed access to reliable internet service for a couple of hours. It took me over two hours to send/receive three e-mails. This is not an isolated issue. I had similar issues on my visit in April 2012. The positive is the ability to use satellite TV. Due to the poor Wi-Fi and vehicle noise, I will not stay here again.

Date of Stay:

We stayed at the Gateway Park which is off-base just outside the main gate. All sites have concrete pads with electric/water/sewer at the site. All sites have a grass area, picnic table, and a grill. Cell phone reception (ATT) was great. Satellite TV reception was no problem. Bathrooms and showers are very clean. Laundry is a real plus. This is a great park to stay in prior to heading to/from Canada. After driving from Alaska to the Lower 48, this was a great place to stop and recharge. I will definitely stay here again.

Date of Stay:

Office is currently under construction so check-in is at first site (travel trailer). It had recently rained and the park was very muddy with a lot of standing water. The sites and roads could use some more gravel to mitigate the mud. No sewer at site but park host said the dump was next to the restroom/shower house but I could not locate it due to all the on-going construction. Has the potential to be a nice park but it needs some work. I would not stay here again.
