Lake Shore RV Resort, Oelwein, Iowa

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very clean park. There are many seasonal campers here, but no clutter on any sites. The owners are on site & take great pride in their park. Most sites are back in & long enough to remain hooked up if only staying overnight. Water & electric are located at the rear of most sites. Sewer connections are located on the side of the sites. This is a very family friendly park that offers a sand beach & swimming area on the adjoining lake. They also have a canoe & kayaks that guest can use on the lake. There is also a marked sand area for volleyball or badminton, & a playground for the kids. Bathrooms & laundry are clean. Laundry has 2 washers & 2 dryers. Cost is $2.00 per load & you pay in the office. Wifi worked better in the mornings & slowed during the day. It was very slow on the weekends when the park was full. No cable tv, but plenty of OTA channels with antenna pointed @ 170*. We really enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere & will definitely return when in this area. Rate reflects Coast to Coast price + $5.00 daily energy charge. We camped at Lake Shore RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Hickory Hollow Campground, Utica, Illinois

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Only stayed one night & had a long pull thru. Site was high in front, so we had to unhook from the fifth wheel(no problem). Office building contained check in, a few food & rv supplies, and a game room. Bathroom & showers were on the back side of the building & were clean. TV reception OTA was very poor. We could only get one Fox station! Staff was very friendly & helpful. We would probably stay again for a one night stay. We camped at Hickory Hollow Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

White River Campground, Cicero, Indiana

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $21.00
Overall Rating:

This is a Hamilton County park with concrete sites & roads. Our site was a back-in on the rear loop of the campground. Our site was just long enough for our 34' fifth wheel & allow us to park in front. Some sites are shorter. It would be nice if the road in the rear loop was a little wider. There were several sites with deep holes next to the road from previous vehicles backing in to sites. Most sites seem to share a hookup for electric & water. We observed many people pull into the site so the hookups would be on the proper side. We spent a week here & saw many vacant sites during the week. However, on the weekend, the park completely filled up. Use caution when driving thru the park on weekends because there are kids everywhere. The camp hosts do try to enforce the 5 mph speed limit. The park sits right next to the White River & mosquitoes were out in force during our stay. The shower house is at the front of the park. There are restrooms at the rear of the park, but no showers. TV reception OTA was fine, but the wifi was slow & next to unusable on the weekend. We would use this campground again, but would probably try to avoid the weekend. We camped at White River Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Ottawa Metro Park, Lima, Ohio

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very nice & well kept municipal park. Most sites are back-in, but there is one row of pull thru sites. Bath house is very nice & clean & also has some vending machines. Park is located about 1.5 miles east of I-75 just out of town. Access was very easy & there was no road noise. Sites are first come, first served. There were many sites available on the Monday night we were here, however it might be hard to get a site on the weekends. Camp host was very nice & helpful with self check in. We will definitely stay here again when in the area. We camped at Ottawa Metro Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Scenic Hills RV Park, Millersburg, Ohio

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Very clean park with 3-4 different camping areas. The short term area consists of both pull thru & back-in sites. Sites are level & gravel covered. Utility hookups are well positioned. There is no bath house. Laundry contains only 2 washers & 2 dryers. We found the best tv reception with the antenna pointed to 20*. The staff was very friendly & helpful. We will definitely stay here again when visiting Berlin. We camped at Scenic Hills RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

North Fork Resort, Front Royal, Virginia

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

This is an older Campground. It covers a large area & has 5-6 seperate camping areas. The entrance is at the top of a hill, then you go down a long hill to the camping areas. We were in section 3 in a pull thru site. The sites on this row were terraced up from the road, which made the rear of our fifth wheel about 3 1/2' off the ground. The bath house for section C also contains a laundry with 5 washers & 5 dryers. It cost $2.00 to wash & $2.00 to dry. Two washers were out of order during our stay. The bath house was dated, but the lavatories & showers were clean. The pools were large & clean. The Family Center (rotunda) has a tv room with satellite tv. It also has a billiard room & a game/craft room. Due to the location in the river bottom, OTA tv reception is very poor. We were only able to get 2 channels, an ABC station from Harrisonburg & a PBS station. Wifi was barely useable early mornings, but was very slow & inadequate the rest of the day. The picnic tables need the wood replaced on the tops & seats. The staff was friendly & helpful. Rate is Coast to Coast.. We camped at North Fork Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

We used Ft. Chiswell for a 1 night stay. Park is only 1/2 mile off of I-81, but we heard no road noise at all. We had a pull thru site with a concrete pad to park on. Lakewood Camping Resort, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

We spent 8 days in a site near the beach. Our rate of $27.00 was a reduced rate because of the time of year. Rates increase as the peak summer season approaches. The arcade, water park, & Trading Post(store) were not open yet. This is a hugh park with good security. You must pass through a security check point when entering the park. Security also patrols the park on golf carts. You have access to the beach from the park. There are many clean restrooms/showers spaced throughout the park. Sites are all level & sand covered. All roads are paved. Sites are all back in with the power/water pedestals located at the back so 2 sites can share the pedestal. Each pedestal has a 30 & 50 amp receptacle. Sewer receptacles are not located at the extreme rear of the site, but are located toward the rear portion of the site. Bagged garbage is placed next to your site marker & is picked up daily. Our wifi worked well. The park has many privately owned park models toward the front. Most of the daily RV sites are located toward the rear of the campground near the beach. This park is managed in a very professional manner & we would definitely return. The staff was very friendly & helpful. We camped at Lakewood Camping Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Parkwood RV Park and Cottages, Statesboro, Georgia

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

This is a nice clean park located next to a motel(check in at the motel office). We have found that most RV parks at motels tend to be a row of sites in a dusty area behind the motel. That is definitely not the case here. This park is a totally separate location next door to the motel. Most of the sites are pull thrus. The perimeter sites are back in. The bath house is clean & contains 2 each showers, lavatory, & toilets. The laundry is also in the same building & contains 5 washers & 5 dryers. Cost is $1.50 to wash & $1.50 to dry. There appeared to be a few long term residents. All sites were clean & clutter free. Utility pedestals were located about midway on the sites. Electric was good & water pressure was good. Wifi worked very well. Cable tv was very good & had approximately 25 HD channels. Staff was very friendly & helpful. We will definitely stay here again when in this area. We camped at Parkwood RV Park and Cottages in a Fifth Wheel.

Lake Oklawaha RV Resort, Fort McCoy, Florida

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This is a large park on the edge of the Ocala National Forest & very close to Lake Oklawaha. Not sure if the park has access to the lake shoreline. This park does attract many ATV owners to ride the trails in the national forest. Sites are grass/sand covered. Some sites are shady & some sites are sunny. There are also some privately owned sites that usually have some improvements on them (pavers/patios) that are not available. There are some sites that are reasonably level, but many sites that are unlevel to varying degrees. The power pedestals/water connections are at the back of the sites. The sewer connection on many lots are an unusually long distance from the pad site. Electric worked well, but water pressure was very low. Cable tv is only available in the clubhouse. We turned our OTA antenna to 210* & were able to receive the 4 major networks in HD. Wifi worked well in the mornings, but was very slow in the evenings. Baths & showers were very clean. Laundry room appears to have been recently remodeled, but only has 4 washers & 2 dryers. The clubhouse is a large building that contains a pool table, cornhole boards, & a nice looking pool outside. It's 21 miles to Walmart in Palatka. This trip includes a 3 mile stretch of unpaved road. Inquire at the office for directions. The roads in the park are all paved. The staff was very friendly & helpful. We camped at Lake Oklawaha RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Sumter Oaks RV Park , Bushnell, Florida

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

This is an Escapees Rainbow Park. The primary reason for our visit was to take advantage of the Smart Weigh program. I was very impressed with the thoroughness of the weighing procedure & would recommend this to anyone who is concerned about the weight of their unit. This was the busy season so the only sites available were 30 amp daily sites. Sites were long, spacious, & grass/sand covered. There's a lot of trees, so most sites have some shade. The park has no wifi & the only OTA network was ABC. AT&T cell signal is very weak & not really usable. We were told Verizon & Sprint phones work well. The park is located approximately 1 1/4 miles east of I-75. There is no road noise from I-75, but some early morning truck traffic on CR 673 in front of the park. Staff was very friendly & helpful. We camped at Sumter Oaks RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

Overnight stay on our way south. About 1 mile south of I-10 (no road noise) with easy access. Sites are nicely spaced & all are pull thrus. Entire campground is wooded. Good OTA tv from Tallahassee, but satellite could be a challenge with the trees. Main building contains a small store with a nice variety of items. Shower facilities are very nice & located in the main building. Very friendly & helpful staff. We would definitely stay here again. Savannah Oaks RV Resort, Savannah, Georgia

Date of Stay: January, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This is an older campground located approximately 18 miles from downtown Savannah. The entrance is located at a gas station/convenience store. The office is located in the rear portion of the convenience store. Our site was located in the lower rear section of the campground. The site was a long pull thru, but was somewhat narrow. Hookups were conveniently located. Cable tv & wifi worked ok. While not the most convenient location to Savannah, we enjoyed the quieter rural location. We would probably stay here again on our next trip to Savannah. We camped at Savannah Oaks RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Oak Plantation Campground, Charleston, South Carolina

Date of Stay: January, 2017 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

This is a large campground with most sites being pull thrus. Our site was toward the rear(row NN) and was far enough back from Hwy. 17 that we heard no road noise. Sites were level, utilities all worked well, and cable tv/wifi were good. Staff was very professional and very knowledgeable about the area. Due to the size of the park, there are many speed bumps that work very well to reduce vehicle speeds. It can be very difficult to turn left out of the campground on to Hwy. 17 sometimes, particularly at commute times in the morning and evening. There is a nice Publix supermarket about 1/2 mile west of the campground. We would definitely stay here again when in the area. We camped at Oak Plantation Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
