Atlantic Oaks Campground, Eastham, Massachusetts

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $53.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed for four nights and would definitely choose Atlantic Oaks again. The staff were friendly and provided lots of helpful information about things to do on the Cape. Access to the Cape Cod Rail Trail was a real plus; we bicycled to Orleans and enjoyed both the ride and exploring the town. The campground is located in the middle of the Cape, so it was easy to visit the various towns and attractions. Everything about the park was good: very clean restrooms and showers, large dog play area, easy access to walking and biking trails, good quality wood sold for campfires. The only negatives, and they were minor, were somewhat small showers and some road noise from Route 6. We camped at Atlantic Oaks Campground in a Motorhome.

Boston Minuteman Campground, Littleton, Massachusetts

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

We have stayed at this campground before and were happy to reserve here again while visiting family in the Boston area. Sites are located under very tall evergreen trees, and our site was fairly private with woods on one side. Some sites in the interior part of the park are less private. The dog park was appreciated! Managers are friendly and helpful, and all facilities were clean and in good order. There was some road noise during the night which is perhaps to be expected in an urban area. We camped at Boston Minuteman Campground in a Motorhome.

Savannah Oaks RV Resort, Savannah, Georgia

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed for one night on our way north. I thought it would be fairly quiet, being about three miles off I-95, but there was constant loud traffic noise from the road. Facilities seemed to be a bit old and tired, including signage, picnic table, posts for water faucets, dog play area, and especially restrooms. I was not able to connect to the park's wi-fi. I would not stay here again. We camped at Savannah Oaks RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tallahassee RV Park, Tallahassee, Florida

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed for one night as we were heading home. The park is conveniently located off I-10. The site was narrow but long enough for our 25-foot motor home plus towed car. Office staff was friendly and helpful. Showers were excellent: clean with plenty of hot water and even a heater (which was appreciated with the recent cold temperatures). Laundry facilities were very good. All in all, highly-recommended for an overnight! We camped at Tallahassee RV Park in a Motorhome.

Camp Lakewood Campground & RV Park, Effingham, Illinois

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed for one night while traveling through the area. Our site was close to other campers but was shaded. Showers were very clean. Office staff was somewhat slow to provide service due to long conversation with another camper. Satisfactory for one night but not a destination. Road construction made it somewhat difficult to get to. We camped at Camp Lakewood Campground & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Elkhorn Campground, Frankfort, Kentucky

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

The campground was full on a Friday night. There appeared to be quite a few seasonal and/or regular visitors. The site was close to others but was long enough for us to park without unhooking the car. Manager in the office was friendly. Not a destination, but fine for one night while traveling through the area. We camped at Elkhorn Campground in a Motorhome.

Summer Wind R.V. Park, Dawson, West Virginia

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This is a convenient place to stop for one night if traveling along I-64. Site was graveled and fairly level. We were greeted by the owner who guided us to the site and was very friendly. Internet was good, scenery was beautiful! We camped at Summer Wind R.V. Park in a Motorhome.

Breaks Interstate Park, Breaks, Virginia

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This is an old, tired park in a lovely part of Virginia. It is greatly in need of modernizing and upgrading. Campsites were not at all level and gravel pads needed grading. Electric hookups had broken covers; some looked like they had been hit by trucks. Bathhouse had rusty fixtures, and their concrete floors had worn-off paint and smelled damp. However, both staff and campground hosts were extremely friendly, and hiking trails were well-marked. We camped at Breaks Interstate Park in a Motorhome.

Wagon Trail Campground, Ellison Bay, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Staff was extremely welcoming and helpful in giving tips about activities in the area. The campground was very quiet, with adequate space between sites. Landscaping was beautiful and facilities were extremely well-maintained. Showers and bathrooms were immaculate. We would stay here again. We camped at Wagon Trail Campground in a Motorhome.

Scales Campground and Marina, North Liberty, Iowa

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

The campground is part of a popular marina on the shores of Coralville Lake, and the setting is lovely. We were there on a busy summer weekend when all sites were taken, so that we had neighbors close on either side of our site. While other aspects of the campground were fine, the restrooms were not; they were dirty and did not appear to be cleaned during the entirety of our stay. The showers were especially bad. The on-site restaurant has live music on weekends, and the noise on a Saturday night was intrusive. In addition, trash had to be hauled quite a distance from the site and there were no recycling bins. We camped at Scales Campground and Marina in a Motorhome.

Hidden Paradise Campground, Saint Paul, Indiana

Date of Stay: September, 2014 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed for one night. We were in a pull-through site near the shower house. It appeared that at a busy time, three rigs would be lined up end-to-end in this section, a strange arrangement. The majority of the sites appeared to be seasonal. Showers were not good: water trickled out of the shower head and it smelled rather like sulfur. It was okay for one night, but we would not return. We camped at Hidden Paradise Campground in a Motorhome.

Port Crescent State Park, Port Austin, Michigan

Date of Stay: June, 2012 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

While the campground itself is quite nice, the overall layout of the park is rather peculiar. It is in two distinct sections: one for camping and one for day-use. Most of the options for hiking are at the day-use end, and there is no connecting trail between the two areas, so one must either drive or walk two miles along a busy road. In addition, because dogs are not permitted on the beach, it's not possible to get to the one trail near the camping area with a dog, as getting started requires passing through the beach area to get to the trail head. In summary, this is a good place to camp if you intend to swim or lie on the beach, but not very good if you are interested in hiking. We camped at Port Crescent State Park in a Motorhome.

Myakka River State Park, Sarasota, Florida

Date of Stay: February, 2012 - $21.00

This is an older park and the sites were somewhat close together. We were in the Big Flats campground which was close to the lake and allowed for excellent birding. We camped at Myakka River State Park in a Motorhome.

Highlands Hammock State Park, Sebring, Florida

Date of Stay: February, 2012 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

This is the only Florida State park to which I would not consider returning. Sites were very close together, so the view out of our camper, in every direction, was a close-up of another RV. It appeared that the smaller sites were in the older part of the campground, so if possible, get a site numbered 115 or above. Those were somewhat larger and were close to the newer bathhouse. We camped at Highlands Hammock State Park in a Motorhome.
