Lee Hi Campground, Lexington, Virginia

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Our 3rd visit to Lee Hi. 50 amp, FHU, pull-through site was just fine. Approx. 20 OTA TV signals, WIFI worked fairly well. We find this stop very convenient to our travels between PA and NC since it is approx. half way and it is easy on/off I-81. Staff is always friendly and helpful whenever we have stopped by. Campground is above the truck parking lot on a hill. There is some noise from idling trucks which continues throughout the day and night but if you're using your A/C you may not notice it at all. We camped at Lee Hi Campground in a Motorhome.

Tri-State RV Park, Matamoras, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

50 amp FHU, pull through site. Cable and WIFI included in price, however we could not connect to the WIFI. Escort to site. Convenient to I-84 and Hwy 209. Our hotspots worked fine here. Some noise from the Interstate but nothing we could not deal with. We had not called for a site until almost 4 PM on a Friday night and were surprised to find that we could get one. Campground is right on the Delaware River. If you're looking for convenience to the Interstate for an overnight stop this is a good choice. We camped at Tri-State RV Park in a Motorhome.

Moody Beach RV Campground, Wells, Maine

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

We had not planned to ever return here but since we had to rejoin Thousand Trails for family medical reasons we stopped here for 1 night, we could not obtain a reservation so were given the "overflow" area which is a grassy area just outside the regular campground and it turned out to be much better than having a site within the park since we were 1 of 4 RVs in that large area. Since the weather cooperated and A/C or heat were not needed we had a great night. We walked the entire park after dinner and saw that nothing has changed, the sites are cramped and dingy/dreary looking with the 50 amp section being side by side hookups we observed rigs with only 2 feet between slide outs. My feelings of claustrophobia from our first visit here did not change and I was thankful that we were assigned the overflow area. In reality, if your rig can do with just 30 amps I would recommend using those sites since they are parallel parked and seem to provide more room. As usual, everything here is extra, WIFI, cable etc. If it weren't for the fact that we are TT members we would not return. We camped at Moody Beach RV Campground in a Motorhome.

Oceanfront Camping @ Reach Knolls, Brooklin, Maine

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

These are the nicest and most congenial owners we have ever met in 9 years of RVing. The owners and staff are excellent. They go out of their way to make sure you feel welcome and address your every concern and answer every question. We cannot say enough about how great our stay was at their campground even though it does not have some of the amenities you might expect. If you like peace and quiet and Maine woods next to the ocean this is for you. 30 amp only at our site but we stayed 2 weeks without having to move our rig because the privy is so clean and the outdoor shower is fabulous (their are indoor showers as well). 6 OTA TV signals, and WIFI is only at the camp office but works well. The owner spaces RVs according to the occupancy so that folks do not feel cramped even though there is plenty of room between sites. Dump station at office and the owners can lend you a "blue boy" should you need it. We camped at Oceanfront Camping @ Reach Knolls in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

This is rural Maine with many small towns on the peninsula but with great scenery all around. The major grocery outlet is in Blue Hill about a 15 minute drive. The Brooklin General Store has basic necessities. There are any hiking trails all around and plenty of water activities in the area. Brooklin is the wooden boat building capital of the US.

Wagon Wheel RV Resort, Old Orchard Beach, Maine

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

50 amp FHU site described as a "pull-through" but in reality we had to disconnect our toad or we would not have been able to access the site. This is primarily a permanent seasonal type park and not really a campground. 2 swimming pools, one devoted to adults only. When we called for a reservation we were told there was only 1 site left which our coach would fit in but in reality there were many open for the 2 nights we stayed there, one of which would not have required a toad disconnect. When I asked the staff about it they said I should have called the campground directly and we might have obtained that site. Seems a strange way to do business. Very clean park, nice staff. Rates were very high even with the PA discount but that's the way it is in the northeast. The park allows local youth groups into the facility to use the pool etc. so if you're looking for quiet you may not find it here. Cable and WIFI are included in the rate. We camped at Wagon Wheel RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Walnut Hills Campground (formerly Staunton / Walnut Hills KOA), Staunton, Virginia

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice staff, helpful and accommodating. We had originally booked their last site for the night which was a back-in but once we arrived we were asked if we'd prefer a pull-through that did not have sewer since one had become available. We accepted since we were only stopping for the night. Very few parks will be that helpful. Park is beautiful and well maintained. We would definitely return when passing through the area and stay longer to take advantage of the rich history of the area. We camped at Walnut Hills Campground (formerly Staunton / Walnut Hills KOA) in a Motorhome.

PA Dutch Country Campground, Outdoor World, Manheim, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

Made advanced registration but when we showed up at the entrance gate the gentleman said he did not have us on record. Nevertheless, he was very helpful and accommodating guiding us to a site. Turns out the office was closed on Sunday very early so there was no one to check with about the reservation and no one available (except the maintenance gent) to pay for the propane we obtained. It would have been nice if the person who took the reservation had told us these things before we showed up. Other than that the park was clean and neat. Since it was pouring rain most of our overnight stay we cannot comment on the facilities there. We camped at PA Dutch Country Campground, Outdoor World in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

If you like to fish this would be a good place to do it. Carrabelle is a very small, old time fishing village with only 1 grocery store and 2 hardware stores. Apalachicola is about 25 miles west and quite a bit more touristy. Be sure and visit the WWII museum in Carrabelle, you would be very surprised at what went on here during the war and how much this little town contributed to the war effort.

Jetty Park Campground, Cape Canaveral, Florida

Date of Stay: January, 2018 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

FHU 50 amp back-in site. No shade on this one, RV behind us did not allow us to fully utilize our pad due to his overhang but managed to level the coach anyway. Approx. 55 OTA TV channels mainly from Orlando. WIFI worked fine this time around. Plenty of activity this year, 2 launches off the Cape (one 1st rocket returned for landing), submarine in/out of the channel directly across from campground and of course, the many cruise ships and cargo vessels who use the port daily. We camped at Jetty Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Ocala Sun RV Resort, Ocala, Florida

Date of Stay: December, 2017 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

FHU, 50 amp pull-through site. Very close side by side hookups in the transient area. Interior roads seem freshly paved, however they are just wide enough for a big rig and are narrow. If you should encounter someone coming in the opposite direction there is no where to go but into the grass/off pavement. WIFI was out while we were here but we only stayed 1 night. I don't think we would return to this park since everything is so close. Staff very nice and helpful. Easy on/off I-75. We camped at Ocala Sun RV Resort in a Motorhome.

New Green Acres RV Park , Walterboro, South Carolina

Date of Stay: December, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

FHU 50 amp pull-through site. Plenty of room for our 40' rig and toad without disconnecting. Easy in/out and on/off I-95. WIFI and cable worked well, lady who took our initial reservation had us going into a 30 amp site but changed us to a 50 amp site when we called back to ask a question about something else since she had a cancellation. We thought that it was very nice that she remembered that we had requested a 50 amp site to begin with. We have stayed here a couple of times before and enjoy the convenience to the highway. Those who are sensitive to road noise may find it troublesome but when our rig is set up we can barely notice the highway and we were there during the Christmas rush to Florida. We would return anytime we're in the area. We camped at New Green Acres RV Park in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Convenient to I-81. The campground is part of the truck stop and the signage does not help you if you're new to the place. Check in is at the "fuel desk" inside the truck stop. The campground is at the far south side of the truck stop up on a hill. There is some noise from all the trucks idling at night but not enough to keep us awake. 50 amp, FHU, pull-through site was fine. 20 OTA TV channels available, WIFI worked well while we were here. This is our 2nd stop here and an IHOP restaurant has been added to the truck stop. Staff here has always been very friendly and helpful. We would return in the future. Overall Rating:

FHU, 50 amp, pull-through site. 17 OTA TV stations available, excellent WIFI though the park is fairly empty since we arrived after Labor Day. Many seasonal rigs here and the roads are somewhat narrow and turns are a bit tight for our rig and towed vehicle but manageable. Staff was very helpful and friendly particularly warning us about using the printed directions in our Passport America book rather than GPS. Actual rate was $17.50 for the night. Site could use some leveling since it sloped to our left. All the picnic tables appear to be brand new. We would return if in the area. We camped at RV Village Camping Resort in a Motorhome.
