Sharp RV Park, Saint Joseph, Missouri

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $14.00
Overall Rating:

Lots of permanents, but not a problem. For $14 passport america overnight, can't b beat. We were parked in site 18 which fronts hwy 29/59 but we were still able to sleep with the windows open. Site was gravel and enough out of level that I had to break out a couple of 2x4's, but no big deal. Permanents were 75% senior and small percentage of construction. Felt very safe here. Large state right of way to walk the dog. I would definitely stay here again. We camped at Sharp RV Park in a Motorhome.

Ashland City RV Park (Kreher Park), Ashland, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Large sites with lots of grass and a few trees. Most sites are gravel and unlevel. A few spots for big rigs. First come first serve. No reservations except for monthly. Park is located right on Lake superior. Wifi is no good. OTA is no good, but satellite was excellent. We had a 50 amp site, but as cool as it was a 30 would have been fine. One of my most favorite parks, and I would stay again. We camped at Ashland City RV Park (Kreher Park) in a Motorhome.

Amana Colonies RV Park, Amana, Iowa

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $19.00
Overall Rating:

All of the sites are for back in, but they could be pull thru if not busy. Pretty much open pasture land, but appealing. Wifi worked great, Satellite was very usable because of the openness. The sites were gravel and level. Wonderful place for walking and lots of grass for Fido. That is why it is appealing even without a lot of trees. Easy access for everyone. Price paid is with passport america. I would definitely stay again, especially with Passport even if I had to go a little out of my way. We camped at Amana Colonies RV Park in a Motorhome.

Huzzah Valley Resort, Steelville, Missouri

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Many of the previous comments are true about needing more gravel etc. But you must remember, that this park is on a creek that constantly floods. I am sure it is difficult for them to put in all of the gravel that is needed because of flooding. They actually do a great job of maintaining RV sites as close to the creek as they are. All of the building, grounds and machinery are in great shape and the employee's are well informed as to how to run the business. The entry road and all internal roads are gravel and well maintained. I did not experience any pot holes or bumpy road conditions. Satellite TV service in the 500's was fine. I was able to get AT&T 4g service with We-boost even though at first my phone said no service. I hope to camp here again. We camped at Huzzah Valley Resort in a Motorhome.

The campground offers kayaking, canoeing, horseback riding and plenty of open fields for kids and dog walking. The Huzzah creek wraps around a considerable amount of the campgrounds and if you desire you can tent camp right on the river.

Stone Mountain Park Campground, Stone Mountain, Georgia

Date of Stay: February, 2016 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

My ratings are based on staying at the campground in February. We were able to use passport america for one night and then paid full price for the second night. The rates they charge may be fine in season but they are high for a place to park for a couple of nights. In season they have a pool and other offerings that are not available are practical in the winter. We camped at Stone Mountain Park Campground in a Motorhome.

4J+1+1 RV Park & Campground, Ouray, Colorado

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Check in person was pleasant and helpful. As stated, gravel parking, no grass for dogs, water and electric was good. Sites are close together but since it was off season the management only rented every other site which gave us plenty of room. I feel it is overpriced for what it is, but I suppose they have a limited amount of time to make their yearly money. From what I could see around town, this was as good if not better than the other parks. We camped at 4J+1+1 RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The town is your classic historical town. Fun to walk around. They have a city hot spring that is normally opened, but it was closed for cleaning the days we were there. Within walking distance of the rv park. Since it was closed we went to a private hot spring (Wiesbaden Hot Springs Spa) that cost $16 for 3 hours use. It also has a natural steam room in the basement.

Silver Summit RV Park and Campground, Silverton, Colorado

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

We had grass on 3 sides of us which was great for the dogs. Wifi was excellent and possibly the best I have ever had. I was unable to get the cable TV to work but that was not an issue because I prefer to use our satellite. This was our first trip to Silverton and hope to come back again. If we do we will definitely stay at Silver Summit. Parking site was on level gravel, electric was good and water was fine. This is not a resort nor does it pretend to be. Able to walk to anything in town. Excellent value with Passport America. We camped at Silver Summit RV Park and Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Plan to spend a couple of days to a couple of weeks. Jeep rental is available on site and in town. The Durango/Silverton railroad depot is within walking distance. The town and business's are quaint and you can kill a 1/2 day walking around shopping and eating. Spend more time if you visit the gold mines and museum. Lots of fishing opportunities.

Cortez / Mesa Verde KOA, Cortez, Colorado

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

I stayed here because of the reviewer who stated that it was the best KOA they had ever stayed at. What they failed to say was they were on an upper ledge that did have a few trees. Our site is in a gravel parking lot with no trees and no grass nearby for the dogs to do their business on. I had to put out blocks as my self levelers would not accommodate the slope of our site. You would think for a large gravel parking lot there would be a lot of room between homes, but as I am writing this I am looking at our next door neighbors camper that appears to be about 7 feet away even though the back lot is almost empty and they could have spaced out the campers. The park is clean and the check in person was friendly. Wifi is good, no cable tv, pretty good OTA reception if you have a digital antenna. Our site is worth about $15 to $18, but not $37.95. We camped at Cortez / Mesa Verde KOA in a Motorhome.

Groton Forest Road Campground, Marshfield, Vermont

Date of Stay: September, 2013 - $17.00
Overall Rating:

Good enough for an overnight stay. Clean and safe. Approximately 2.5 miles off of Hwy 2. Steep hill to climb off of Hwy 2. The pull thru is on the grass which has electric and water. There is a dump station on premise at no charge to campers. Site was hard to level. Plenty of room to walk Fido. Wi-Fi on site, but is weak. Satellite was fine but no OTA or cable channels. Would stay here again, but would like to see other options in the area. Rate is Passport America. We camped at Groton Forest Road Campground in a Motorhome.

Topeekeegee Yugnee Park / Whispering Pines, Hollywood, Florida

Date of Stay: February, 2013 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

I wish I could be as favorable as the other reviewers. Yes it does have level paved parking sites, but so does Wal-Mart. To me the campground was like Wal-Mart in that it has paved lots with small trees poked out here and there. The park does have a lot to offer but unfortunately they are trying to do to much in the same area. There is no privacy at the campground because the walking trail is open to the public, which means there is a constant flow of people walking past your bbq grill and table. As for the trains, my home is a quarter mile from the train tracks, and I am able to sleep with the windows open at night, but not here. They will definitely wake you up. We were not able to get a good enough WiFi signal to use it at all. We used my wife's cell phone as a hot spot. The swimming pool did not appear to be open while we were here. When we got to the park we pulled in to what appeared to be a pay booth. We waited in the coach and looked around and nothing happened. We decided to pull on into the park and naturally turned right when we should have turned left. This could be a problem for a large coach. Ours is 37' and we tow a car behind. We got turned around and continued into the park where we found an office type building where the attendants were. We went in and paid and were instructed to the location of our site. There must have been at least 4 or 5 speed bumps to get to the RV area. Bottom line is, this is going to be about the best you are going to find for this area. Our favorite thing was taking our RV to Hollywood beach where you can park your RV in a county parking lot for $10 for the day (no overnight camping). The boardwalk is just a short walk from the parking lot. A great day. I would stay here again if I was in the area for other things. We camped at Topeekeegee Yugnee Park / Whispering Pines in a Motorhome.

Larry & Penny Thompson Park & Campground, Miami, Florida

Date of Stay: February, 2013 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

The only thing stopping me from giving this park a 10 is it does not have a heated pool. Beautifully shaded camp sites with enough room to be comfortable. There are 275 acres in the middle of the city. You don't even know that the city is there. Grocery stores and amenities were close by. Wonderful bike trail around a lake. It is very difficult to get into this park at the last minute, but the staff tries to accommodate everyone. They do have an overflow area that you can dry camp for $17 per night and hope that something opens up for a couple of nights. I assume this is a state or county owned park, and as such it seems that they would limit the stay to 3 or 4 weeks in order that more people can enjoy the park. The way it is you can reserve a site for up to 6 months and do this 11 months in advance. There a lots of people that have been coming here for years and they make their reservation for the next year while they are still at the park. If the pool was heated, I would have put a reservation down for next year. The unheated pool would not keep me from staying here again. We camped at Larry & Penny Thompson Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Adelaide Shores RV Park, Avon Park, Florida

Date of Stay: January, 2013 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Rate paid is based on acceptance of Passport America. After reading the reviews from November 2011, we were hesitant to stop, but we did and were glad that we did. We ended up staying for two weeks. When checking in, I asked the attendant about the review that was written in 2011. She explained to me that they have to pay to have electric meters turned on in their name, so they only keep a limited amount turned on. They have a strong return crowd that stays for the winter and these folks have the meters in their own names. The site I was offered originally was the same one that the other reviewer was offered. It was not that bad of site. However I was offered a different site because I stated that I would stay for a week. I was told I would only have to pay for a night until I was sure I was satisfied, but the young lady who happens to be the daughter of the owner was so nice and up front that we paid for the entire week without a trial period. The pool was kept at 84 degrees and was covered at night. I believe they said that if the temp does not get to 70 during the day that they do not uncover the pool. The lake is state owned and is not up to the owner of the lake or probably permissible to do anything with it. The park does own a boat dock that you may fish from. Overall a good experience and I plan on coming back next year and possibly this year on the way home from further south. The sites were plenty level as well as the concrete patio. My wife states the only negative is the absence of trees. The lots that are rented by the year are landscaped by the tenant. We camped at Adelaide Shores RV Park in a Motorhome.

Cain's Creekside RV Park, Hahira, Georgia

Date of Stay: January, 2013 - $16.00
Overall Rating:

The park is a work in progress. All roads are gravel as well as the sites. This personally, is not a problem for me. In order to get to our site we had to cross a pond dam which did cause our car to drag. Overall for a one or 2 night stay with Passport America, it is a great place to stay. The owners are friendly and you are definitely safe in the park. The town is well maintained and clean, it almost reminds you of the Stepford Wives movie. There are no beer sales allowed on Sunday in the county. There is a sign posted as you enter town with the results of seat belt violations and participation of wearing seat belts. This made me a little paranoid of the town as how would they know the numbers unless they had regular road check stops. I would definitely stop again if I was needing an overnight stay. We camped at Cain's Creekside RV Park in a Motorhome.
