Red Hills State Park, Sumner, Illinois

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed 4 days in a class A motorhome. The road into the park is paved but each site is gravel. The sites could use more gravel. There were few night light posts and all could use a good cleaning. The dock area had no lighting and was really dark. The shower house needs updating and cleaning. The push button showers do not stay on long enough and the water was extremely hot. Bonus was lots of trees for shade. Host was friendly. We camped at Red Hills State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

This could be a super state park with a little work such as more gravel added to sites, absolutely more lighting! No outside lights were on by the pit toilets, and no outside lights by the dock area. There was only (1) shower house/toilet building and it needs to be updated and cleaned. The push button water control is impossible to use as the water was so hot with no temperature control and only stayed on for a minute. Another shower house/toilet building would be appreciated.
