Spruce Lake RV Resort, Estes Park, Colorado

Date of Stay: July, 2013 - $160.00
Overall Rating:

We did not like this park. The woman who handled our reservation over the phone seemed overwhelmed by the process, and the woman at check-in was equally overwhelmed by that process. The RV sites are situated at odd angles, and they are packed on top of one another. The pool was small. The park is overpriced even by Estes Park standards. They purport to be pet friendly, but you will find plenty of no dogs allowed signs and no fenced in dog park in which to walk them. We would not return to this park. We camped at Spruce Lake RV Resort in a Campground Cabin.

WaKeeney KOA, WaKeeney, Kansas

Date of Stay: July, 2013 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Nice KOA with well stocked camp store. We enjoyed their pancake breakfast and their ice cream social. Lots of space between sites and in the campground. This place could use a fenced in pet walk like mosts KOAs have. Price reflects KOA member discount for Kampers cabin. We camped at WaKeeney KOA in a Motorhome.

Elk Meadow Lodge & RV Resort, Estes Park, Colorado

Date of Stay: July, 2013 - $70.00
Overall Rating:

The negatives are the pool is extremely crowded and there needs to be another restroom facility. The positives are they have a nice camp store and an even nicer restaurant with a saloon attached. Beautiful views from the park and on the ride in. I'd stay here again, mostly because of the saloon! We camped at Elk Meadow Lodge & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Douglas KOA, Douglas, Wyoming

Date of Stay: July, 2013 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

Just okay. They have a very nice pool, miniature golf course, well stocked store and friendly hosts, but the place is just strange. It's surrounded by trailer homes and Quonset huts. It's hard to tell where the campground ends and the neighborhood begins. I would not stay here again. Price reflects KOA members discount for Kampers cabin. We camped at Douglas KOA in a Motorhome.

Belvidere East / Exit 170 KOA, Midland, South Dakota

Date of Stay: July, 2013 - $63.00
Overall Rating:

One of the few 10's I've given. The hosts were exceptionally friendly. Very clean campground with well stocked store and a nice pool. Beautiful views both day and night. Same exit as 1880's Town attraction. Would absolutely stay here again. Price reflects a Kampers Cabin with KOA membership discount. We camped at Belvidere East / Exit 170 KOA in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Excellent park. I'd give a 10 if they had just a few organized activities for the kids. This place is immaculate and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Great pool, playground, pet park and jump pillow. Price reflects KOA discount. We camped at Yankton / Missouri River KOA in a Motorhome.

Adventureland Campground, Altoona, Iowa

Date of Stay: July, 2013 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

Nice campground, just looks and feels old. Plenty of space between sites and is situated on a large parcel of land. Amusement park is within walking distance but they do provide trolley service. Pool is nice and open late. Camp store is limited. This campground could use a fenced in pet walk area. Price is just an estimate. I don't recall what I paid. We camped at Adventureland Campground in a Motorhome.

Sunset Lakes RV Resort, Hillsdale, Illinois

Date of Stay: July, 2013 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice campground with huge pool. Lots of space here with several fishing ponds. Would have rated this higher if it had a fenced in pet walk and more than 1 restroom facility which is co-located with the pool, camp store and grill, so you share it with all the visitors. Price is just an estimate. I can't recall what I paid. We camped at Sunset Lakes RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Lakeside RV Resort, New Carlisle, Indiana

Date of Stay: July, 2013 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

I've camped in over 50 campgrounds and this was one of my least favorite. It's nearly all seasonals, who were welcoming and friendly, with somewhere in the neighborhood of 6 sites available for visitors. The reservation process was simply a matter of getting someone to answer the phone, and no confirmation was provided other than being told my name was "on the board." At check in we waited for someone to find the person who works in the office. Our site was basically in someone's yard and the fire ring was within reach of their tethered dogs. There's a pool but it was packed with regulars who were throwing a party. No other amenities. The restaurant is not affiliated with the campground but is within walking distance. We camped at Lakeside RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Cedar Point Resorts / Lighthouse Point Campground, Sandusky, Ohio

Date of Stay: July, 2013 - $97.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice campground with excellent pool. Also has a nice pier with beautiful views of Lake Erie. Sites are modern with level cement pads. No fenced in pet walk is the only thing that kept this campground from a perfect rating. Walking distance to amusement park. We camped at Cedar Point Resorts / Lighthouse Point Campground in a Motorhome.

Bellefonte / State College KOA, Bellefonte, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: June, 2013 - $64.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice campground with a very nice pool. Most sites are arranged along 5 rows and "tiered" above one an other. A little close together and the water hookups are on the opposite side of the electric and sewer which was bizarre. Price reflects KOA member discount. We camped at Bellefonte / State College KOA in a Motorhome.

Indian Ranch, Webster, Massachusetts

Date of Stay: June, 2013 - $79.00
Overall Rating:

This was a tough one to review. My rating reflects a comparison to other campgrounds which this is really not. It's a concert venue with some 200 plus seasonal sites and very few (I was told maybe as little as six) sites available for reservation. If you are there when there's not a concert, there's very little to offer by way of amenities/activities. They have a very nice pool and bathhouse and the facilities where clean. The camp store doubles as a gift shop/main entrance on show days and offers virtually nothing as far as supplies go. There is a gas station with a Food Mart adjacent to the property which you can walk to. It has everything (including Subway, Dunkin Donuts) just not a lot of camping supplies. When shows aren't going on you can wander around the venue and have access to a lakefront. They do charge something extra per person and require a $25 refundable deposit for the pool/bathhouse. If you're there for a concert weekend they require a 2 night minimum. They allow you to check out late on Sunday which is nice because they really pack them in. The venue is a great place to see performers up close and they have all the usual concessions. There's plenty of space to wander around and you can still hear the music down by the lakefront. The people who work there and the seasonals who stay there were all very friendly. But be forewarned it is a party atmosphere. Lot's of music and cocktails, and lots of circling around in golf carts. But again, I can't say enough about how friendly people were. We camped at Indian Ranch in a Motorhome.

Strawberry Park, Preston, Connecticut

Date of Stay: June, 2013 - $99.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very family friendly campground. Loads to do for all ages at all hours. Lots of seasonals. Price reflects $198 total for a 2 night minimum stay weekend. 3 very clean pools to choose from. The one with hot tubs is for adults only. Staff was extremely friendly and helpfull. Lots of paved roads for bike riding. My one complaint is that they seemingly begrudgingly allow pets and the 2 dog parks available are tiny. With all the space they have it would be an easy and welcome upgrade and made this place perfect. We camped at Strawberry Park in a Motorhome.

Quechee / Pine Valley KOA, White River Junction, Vermont

Date of Stay: May, 2013 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here Memorial Day Weekend and had the misfortune of some bad weather, but the staff at this KOA went out of their way to make this a great weekend. From the moment we arrived, they were friendly, welcoming and attentive. They stayed after hours to await our arrival and still escorted us to our site. Their hospitality was the best we've experienced. From delivering firewood to routinely patrolling sites for trash pickup, the hosts did a great job of making certain we had a relaxing stay. They even hand delivered some rainy day suggestions for the area and were constantly checking on everyone's well being. This is a great area to visit with lots to do. We couldn't take advantage of the pool this time of year so we spent most of our time outside the campground. The store is well stocked and there is a convenience store across the street which serves some great BBQ and Ice cream. About the only negative I can come up with for this campground, is that the sites are a little close to one and other. You're pretty much in each other's laps, but that in no way detracts from the overall experience. I highly reccommend this campground. We camped at Quechee / Pine Valley KOA in a Motorhome.

Normandy Farms, Foxboro, Massachusetts

Date of Stay: May, 2013 - $69.00
Overall Rating:

Normandy Farms is the campground by which all others should be measured. They are not only the best in the area but the best anywhere in my opinion. There is not one thing I can think of to complain about. It has friendly staff, Stocked store, plenty of activities, spacious sites and ample amenities. This is our 2nd time staying here over the last 3 years and it seems as if they're pouring every penny right back into the park. We camped at Normandy Farms in a Motorhome.
