Coushatta Casino Resort Red Shoes RV Park, Kinder, Louisiana

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

I'm a golfer so I thought I would give this place a try. I was pleasantly surprised by the wonderful RV park and facilities. Level sites with excellent hookups abound. The park is fairly large and the perimeter is lined by "Chalets" for non-RV'ers. Really nice dog park and a fishing lake to boot. Tennis Courts, play ground and other amenities are excellent. I didn't use the heated pool but it was warm to the touch and looked great. Office staff was professional and helpful. I asked for a particular site and there was no problem. They do tend to place people right next to each other even if the park is partially full, which is probably easier for them. The Golf course was great and uncrowded. The Casino was nice if you like to gamble. All staff I came in contact with were friendly and helpful. This is one of the nicest RV parks I've stayed in and I will be back. We camped at Coushatta Casino Resort Red Shoes RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Lost Creek RV Park, Stephenville, Texas

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We usually stay at a place about 30 miles north of here but because we were coming from farther south we decided to give this one a try. Called to make reservations and the owner said to just give her my CC number and I could come in and take any open spot without stopping at any office. This worked out great. I've seen Lost Creek from 281 and always commented that it looked like a really nice park. Well, it is a great place to stay. Clean, well groomed, nice place for the dogs, quiet, safe and convenient to town. All utilities were well placed and the site was relatively level. Grounds were nicely mowed and landscaping was well kept. I don't mind not having bath facilities as I always use my own. I can't imagine using outside facilities when self contained. I didn't set up the satellite but it would be a breeze as there are no trees blocking the signal. I've been around and can say that this park is really worthwhile. I will definitely drive the extra 30 miles and stay here when heading south. We camped at Lost Creek RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Alsatian Resort & Golf Club, Castroville, Texas

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

This is a wonderful resort located in a rural setting next to a great golf course. I would call this a true "resort" type facility. The grounds were kept perfectly and the pool/pavilion area was beautiful. We've played golf for three consecutive days and you can't beat the rates with the resort discount. The on-site managers are doing an excellent job of managing this resort. Too bad the restaurant closed recently, but I can understand the lack of business due to the rural location. The nearby town of Castroville is very interesting and has some great history. Walmart and HEB stores are about a 20 minute drive away in Hondo, TX. I bet this place would be hard to get into during the winter months. I will be back. We camped at Alsatian Resort & Golf Club in a Fifth Wheel.

Close enough to San Antonio for all of the sites, but far enough away for a quiet rural setting. Play the golf course.

Katy Lake RV Resort, Katy, Texas

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

This is the third time we've stayed at this park, and as usual, it was excellent. The office personnel were professional and friendly. This is a very nice park spread around a man-made lake, with plenty of room for your rig and vehicle. I didn't use the clubhouse or pool but they looked very nice and well maintained. Nice dog walking trail around the lake. All utilities were first rate. Concrete pads with nice table and chairs. Nice fenced in dog exercise area with free doggy wash facilities. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about this park. We camped at Katy Lake RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Coffee Creek RV Resort, Santo, Texas

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

I've stayed here many times and always enjoyed it. I believe the original owners went bankrupt and this park was recently purchased by the same person who owns Oak Creek RV Resort in Weatherford, TX. The new management has cleaned up the park and kept it looking nice. The pool was especially nice during the hot month of July. Many folks looked to be long term but they have kept their rigs up nicely. Very quiet area with close proximity to several fuel stations and a couple of restaurants. I will certainly stay here again. We camped at Coffee Creek RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Texas 281 RV Park, Bulverde, Texas

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

We usually stay here when visiting our son in San Antonio. This is an older RV park. I could say "an oldie but a goodie." Almost the entire park is inhabited by permanent residents, but they keep several sites open towards the front for short term visitors. The office staff is friendly and efficient. This would not be my idea of a destination park as it has no type of entertainment, but it is a very good place to stay when visiting any of the local attractions. The people living here appear to be very friendly and welcoming. It must be popular because the office lady told me they had no long term sites available until April or May of 2017. I will be back. We camped at Texas 281 RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

RV Express RV Park, Marshfield, Missouri

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

Second time I've stopped here. Sorry to see the original owners didn't make it. I use this park when traveling east on I-44 as it is a good one day drive from OKC. Easy in and out, good hook-ups, and many restaurants within easy walk. I didn't even unhook the rig. Never saw the owner, just left the money in an envelope....kind of weird. As noted, fairly noisy because of the interstate, but tolerable. Will stay here again if heading east. We camped at RV Express RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Orlando / Kissimmee KOA, Kissimmee, Florida

Date of Stay: June, 2014 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

Great campground for visiting local attractions. Disney parks close and easy to access. Plenty of grocery stores close by for convenience. Campground was always clean and neat and folks manning the office were friendly and helpful. Family members stayed in one of the cabins and it was very nice. Pool and hot tub were always clean and well kept. Pet friendly. Off leash pet area was a nice touch. Highly recommended and I will return. We camped at Orlando / Kissimmee KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Sugar Hill RV Park, Convent, Louisiana

Date of Stay: June, 2014 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Owner has two parks on Rt. 44 along the river, Pouche and Sugar Hill. Pouche was full so I was directed to Sugar Hill. These two parks are about the only option if you want to tour the Plantations in the area. This park was a former FEMA park and is quite large. Wide open area with many folks living in their rigs full time. Many sites are grass and might be hard to back into due to narrow culverts over drainage ditches running full length of both roads. I ended up in a concrete pull through that I had to back into due to narrow drives. Utilities were fine and park was fairly neat. This is not a resort type park that you would want to stay in for a long period of time but worked fine for the plantation tours. Highway 44 parallels the river and is narrow and curvy. Good access to the one river bridge and Interstate 10. We camped at Sugar Hill RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Mountain View RV Resort, Canon City, Colorado

Date of Stay: August, 2011 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

This is really the nicest park in the area, and we looked. Excellent facilities, new hook-ups, good electrical service and excellent Wi-Fi. AT&T cellphone and air card worked fine. Owner has gone to a great extent to make this the premier RV park in the area. Beautiful views of the mountains and sunsets. Close to major river float companies and the Royal Gorge. Clean, neat, well laid out sites, particularly the premium sites. A few native trees, but the owner has planted several trees that should provide more shade in the future. This park is probably aimed at the higher end user, although there are some nice play areas for the kids. Nice area for walking your dogs, with doggy bags provided for free use. I understand the owner is going to install a new dog run. Fairly quiet although Highway 50 runs right in front, and it is busy most of the time. A couple of nice golf courses in Canon City if that's your interest. We really enjoyed our week long visit and will definitely be back. We camped at Mountain View RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Date of Stay: May, 2011 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

If you're a golfer this is paradise, it's also great if you're not a golfer. RV park is right next door to the GC. Nice place to walk your pets, along the river. Park host was nice. Many activities planned along the river. Well maintained by City. This is a great base for exploring the Hill Country area. Really nice BBQ place in town. I will definitely be back here when it gets cooler for some more golf. We camped at Llano City RV Park (formerly Llano River Golf & RV Resort) in a Fifth Wheel.

Mitchell Resort and RV Park, Perrin, Texas

Date of Stay: July, 2010 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We were very impressed with the condition of this park. Everything was neat and clean. Pools were great. Tried out the golf course and found it to be well kept. Owners have gone to great lengths to place unique decorative items about property. Lots of kids safely enjoying this rural setting. We felt very safe and reminded us of the "good old times" where you could let your kids enjoy themselves outside. Of course it was very hot and we had to use the air conditioner. Voltage was good and constant. This park is a little jewel in the middle of nowhere and well worth visiting. We will stop here again. We camped at Mitchell Resort and RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Spring Branch RV Park, Spring Branch, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2009 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

We really enjoyed this park. It was extremely clean and well landscaped. Owners/employees were very friendly and helpful. Hookups were new and well placed. Long pull-throughs made for an easy set-up on gravel, level sites. Concrete patio area was convenient and equipped with a nice picnic table. Old red barn was very unique. Laundry and bathroom facilities were very clean. I would highly recommend this RV park for visits to the local area. We camped at Spring Branch RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

The Vineyards, Grapevine, Texas

Date of Stay: September, 2008 - $14.00
Overall Rating:

I almost hate to let out the secret. What a great campground! Owned by the City of Grapevine, this place is really well kept. Good security, lake access for boats, paved sites, etc. Lots of locals with the high price of fuel. Good place for families and pets. Lots of golf courses, eating places, and things to do within easy driving distance. Will make it a twice yearly trip. We camped at The Vineyards in a Fifth Wheel.

Casino Queen RV Park, East Saint Louis, Illinois

Date of Stay: April, 2008 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Rate was 32.65 with Good Sam Discount. Lower rates available but we stayed in the "Deluxe" sites that have a grassy area next to it. I really liked this RV Park for a quick overnight stop. Casino next door with plenty of dining options...not much more in the area. Nice folks in the mini-mart/check-in office. We really enjoyed the Missouri Botanic gardens. Didn't have time to visit any more of the numerous sites in St. Louis. We can see the big Arch out of our window. Despite the East St. Louis reputation, this park appears to be very safe. I would not hesitate to recommend this one. Wi-Fi would have brought my rating up. We camped at Casino Queen RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
