Cooper Creek Campground, Branson, Missouri

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Called 2 weeks in advance and reserved a lake front site. We travel in a 33' Class A with a Jeep toad and had plenty of parking space. The site wasn't quite level enough for the jacks on our Motorhome to get us level. However once we were there we realized all the sites are relatively close to the water. Staff worked with us on finding another site which would work for us and made sure we were comfortable. Most all sites are in the shade. Store is well stocked with necessities and plenty of fishing "stuff" at reasonable prices. Boats are available for rent and there are 2 fishing docks.

The park appears to be relatively remote but is actually close to all Branson activities. Facilities are clean: every time I looked up the groundskeeper was making the rounds. Cooper Creek is pet friendly but they do require you to pick up after your pooch and provide free bags. Firewood was in plentiful supply. The fish bite better in the morning or those times when the dam at Table Rock Lake is releasing less water. We camped at Cooper Creek Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Fishing! Google "Table Rock Dam Power Generation" & note increases in power during high use times (usually from 2pm to 7pm). During this time there is more water coming down Taneycomo. Fishing will be better during early or mid morning.

Raton KOA, Raton, New Mexico

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

Overnight stop! Water & electric only. Did not unhook from truck. In around 7pm. Staff very courteous, check in very smooth and escorted to site. Not somewhere I would consider for a long vacation, but very convenient for an overnight safe & secure, stopping place. We camped at Raton KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Dumas RV Resort, Dumas, Texas

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Not exactly a "resort", but good for an overnighter. No reservation but plenty of spots available. Did get a little exciting when storms blew through at 3 am. Lost power in the entire park, but then again many lights were out on the south end of Dumas from the lightning strikes. Arrived at 7pm, checked in, and was told to help ourselves to whichever site we wanted that was empty. All sites have 20 30 & 50 amp, water & sewer and were level. There were showers & restrooms , but we did not use them. We camped at Dumas RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Arrowhead Point Campground and Cabins , Buena Vista, Colorado

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $52.00
Overall Rating:

Overall visit was good. Park was clean & maintained in spite of being very busy. The store had a decent selection of RV supplies and a rather large selection of "gift" shop items, but was very limited on grocery items (i.e. buns bread, etc). Didn't use the showers but they are "pay type" and require $1.25 for 7 minutes. Glad we were in a full hook up site. The on-line map isn't specific enough about just what a "premium" site includes. Rates and map could be better coordinated to avoid confusion. Our site was a "premium" but didn't have "cable". Satellite signal was good and the campground WiFi had a strong signal even though we were at the extreme end of the park. Staff advised "premium" is any site with 50amp service even though most all are equipped with 50, 30, & 20. If you are a 30amp unit you will pay the premium charge if in a site with 50amp available. Staff was OK, maintenance guys were great. "Pet Friendly". Good Sam discount cannot be used in conjunction with any other discount. We stayed a week and a day in a Travel Trailer. We camped at Arrowhead Point Campground and Cabins in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

This park is centrally located to just about anything you could think of to do. Closest fishing is about 10 miles up the road. Jeep & ATV trails just a hop, skip, & jump away. Sight seeing is right out the park entrance. Easy day trips to Leadville, Fairplay, Aspen & Salida. Stop in Buena Vista or Leadville for groceries, wine, & spirits. Have lunch or dinner at the Branding Iron in Buena Vista.
