Cadillac Ranch RV Park (formerly Amarillo West View RV Park), Amarillo, Texas

Date of Stay: May, 2015 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Very neat entrance and easy to access. Right off the freeway.

It was past office hours, but the elderly gentleman who managed the place came right over in his golf cart and checked us in. Nicest guy you could ever meet...could've been my grandpa. Price was fair.

Park was fairly full mostly permanents or monthlies (some need cleaned out, but overall not bad). Roads were gravel. Sights were gravel. Our sight was NOT level. Utilities were perfectly located. Very easy to get situated. Gentleman helped me get straight and even in the back. Barely fit and had to unhook (although he said staying hooked up wasn't an issue if I was comfortable with it).

We are actually in West Amarillo which may be an issue for 'walkers'. You will have to drive to town, but not far. Freeway noise is there, but not bad. Nice privacy fence along frontage road. Some trees and some shade.

I felt the value was good.

Pleasant stay and would come again. We camped at Cadillac Ranch RV Park (formerly Amarillo West View RV Park) in a Fifth Wheel.

Amazing Grace Acres, Atlanta, Texas

Date of Stay: May, 2015 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

The park is owned by a very nice older couple. They are hard-working and very friendly. We stayed here a month on business and would definitely return. The entrance is a little bit tricky, but you can do it. The sights are fairly roomy and we had a huge 'front yard' for most of our stay. Very mature trees everywhere. Mostly workers or permanents here. All very nice and good neighbors. They have a small laundry on sight with bathroom and shower. Pavilion with porch swing. The man works every day non-stop, mowing, cleaning, and doing general maintenance. The wife was very kind and gave our children rides on her golf cart. Our two year old was calling them 'Uncle' before we left. While were hooking up to leave they owners came out and gave hugs all the way around and kisses to the children; the children hugged them back. They invited us back and said they were sad to see us go. This is not a 'commercial' RV Park, but definitely a friendly one. It felt like a neighborhood by the time we left. I must admit I am always skeptical of any park with 'permanents' and generally avoid them, but this one is somehow different. We will definitely be back. We camped at Amazing Grace Acres in a Fifth Wheel.

Their dog starts barking around 8:30 am for his 'walk'. Our sight was the closest to his yard.

Missoula KOA, Missoula, Montana

Date of Stay: July, 2014 - $65.00
Overall Rating:

Probably the best KOA we have ever stayed; possibly one of the best RV Parks. PROS: VERY close to town, still a park feel. No city sounds, a few helicopters and planes from airport, but minimal. Shady in many places, very friendly and helpful staff, very well serviced sites (lawns, trees, clean, etc.) They have everything you would need for just about anything in the store. Also, electric power was EXCELLENT. Checked at peak usage time and it was 124 volts at the plug (we use 220 50 amp - didn't check pedestal at the same time). CONS: A bit pricey, but you do get what you pay for. Sites are a little short, I see it with just about every unit. Some sites are pretty close to others. We got the best site in the park (None left) and had to pull forward and park behind the unit due to the distance from the power. Other than than it was a pleasant experience. CONCLUSION: Would DEFINITELY stay here again and will probably wish I was here as we go down the road and encounter lesser parks. :-) We camped at Missoula KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Watts RV Park & Recreation Area, Gilmer, Texas

Date of Stay: May, 2014 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice RV park. Friendly staff. Waited for us to arrive, as we were slightly past closing time. Very accommodating. Site was a bit of a chore, as we remained connected and the pickup was quite a bit higher than the trailer. Wasn't bad, though. Their clubhouse is amazing! It has a big screen with sound system, fireplace, kitchen, dining room, pool table, card tables, etc. Nice clean pool. Would rate a 10, but for two reasons - and they are small. 1st: Location. You have to drive through hillbilly alley to get to it; off the beaten path. It would be more suited for a family camping vacation due to this than "passing through", but it was still beautiful. We took pictures which is something we rarely do of a campground. 2nd: The roads are gravel and slightly hilly which causes the rain to erode somewhat, but it wasn't a problem and wasn't too bad. Just being frank and open. We WOULD stay here again. Our rig is 36' long. We camped at Watts RV Park & Recreation Area in a Travel Trailer.

Air Capital RV Park, Wichita, Kansas

Date of Stay: May, 2014 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice park. 90% of sites are concrete pull-throughs. Concrete roads. VERY helpful staff. We stopped here after calling at 9:00 PM. Staff was very friendly and hospitable even at this hour. Well kept grounds, nice grassy areas between sites. Two small cons: No shade and our site was a little bit unlevel toward the back; I believe for drainage. Would definitely stay here again! It looks like the nicest RV Park in ALL of Wichita! We camped at Air Capital RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Springville/Provo KOA , Springville, Utah

Date of Stay: February, 2014 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

THE NEW KOA for Provo, UT!! Beautiful mountain view right outside your door. After hours check-in was smooth as silk, very organized. Nice paved roads and spaces. Easy hookups. Nearly perfectly level. ONE DOWNSIDE: Trains. Right outside your window. They work on them all night long I assume. But with a sound machine, we slept alright. Would stay here again. Recommend. Very friendly staff. Very clean restrooms. Private, separate restrooms with own shower. Nice office. We camped at Springville/Provo KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Hill's RV Park & Campground, Plankinton, South Dakota

Date of Stay: September, 2012 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Owner was very friendly and stay up late for us. We got the Passport America rate of $15. Easy access off of freeway. Close by a gas station. The best site layout I have ever seen. I would like to give this an 8 but for a few things. Sights need a little bit of leveling. Only a portion of the sites have sewer. It is first come/first serve. Great potential! Every site has a tree and once they get a little bigger there will be shade. We camped at Hill's RV Park & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

F.W. Kent Park, Oxford, Iowa

Date of Stay: September, 2012 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful! It is one of the nicest State/County Parks I've stayed at. It is of course without water and sewer, but that is what is expected at a State Park. We would definitely stay again! Showers were wonderful and sites were very spacious and shaded. We camped at F.W. Kent Park in a Travel Trailer.

Deer Park Campground, Buffalo, Wyoming

Date of Stay: July, 2012 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice park! I am a KOA member and chose this one over the KOA less than a 1/2 mile down the road. Lots of shade trees. Large sites that were level and firm. Extremely friendly staff! One drawback is that it is a little bit expensive for a young family of four, or else I would have given it a 10. Would stay again when passing through. We camped at Deer Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Sunrise Campground, Bozeman, Montana

Date of Stay: May, 2012 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

This RV Park is close to town and the freeway which makes easy access and departure. This is a nice campground run by a VERY friendly couple who are very accommodating and hospitable. The sites and roads are covered with round rock which does not pack and when it rains it sinks in. They have nice shady spots most of which are taken by what appears to be semi permanent residents. The playground was really nonexistent and as far as children go is not very friendly. It was all mud, leaves, all grass and neglected. We did enjoy the stay, although the trains ran right by the park until midnight or so and then started early in the morning again. We would stay again, but would explore other options first. We camped at Sunrise Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Silver Summit RV Park and Campground, Silverton, Colorado

Date of Stay: May, 2012 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

Obviously, very beautiful surroundings, but as has been said that can be seen from anywhere in town. We came in a few minutes after closing, but the manager walked right over and opened the office for us. There normal rate was $32, but they honored our Passport American membership so the base rate was $16 + children, taxes. Sites are a little bit close together; once we got our rear slide out there was barely enough room for me to go around the back between a next door motorhome, but that was fine. They say the water pressure is EXTREMELY HIGH, but it has EXTREMELY LOW water VOLUME. It come bursting on, but then slow to a trickle - that could use some help (I would have given it a 9 if not for that). The staff was very friendly. The laundry room was very clean, neat, and modern units installed. The bathrooms were very clean. Would DEFINITELY stay again and recommend. We camped at Silver Summit RV Park and Campground in a Tent Trailer.

Tra-Park RV Park, Pecos, Texas

Date of Stay: May, 2012 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

PROS: Park close to Freeway (about .5 mile from access). Also, close to Truckstop (Flying J across overpass) and to US Hwy 285 (Our route). Park was clean and neat. Mostly mid range units parked, some larger and more expensive, so nothing trashy. There were tables and some canopies. Easy to register and pay after hours. Friendly staff. The site was level. There was plenty of room for entrance and exit. CONS: There was no shade, no grass (except for tent spot), only gravel no place really for the kids to play close by. The road a bit rough coming in. FINAL WORD: Don't expect great things, but it is a nice park. Very functional and accommodating. We stayed one night on the way for Southeast Texas to Carlsbad Caverns. Would definitely stay again! We camped at Tra-Park RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Beautiful! Quiet! Nice! What can I say?! We pulled in on a whim a little after 9 PM and the staff/owners saw us through their window and came right out. Opened up the office and let us stay; 'no charge for the kids'. Wonderful. EXTREMELY EASY sites to park in, even at night. Would definitely stay again. Would definitely recommend. They honor Good Sam Club. The camp area is bordered by tall cottonwoods that provide shade to many sites. We camped at Sky Mountain Resort RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Brantley Lake State Park, Carlsbad, New Mexico

Date of Stay: May, 2012 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

The campground is obviously in a desert setting, that was to be expected. It was a little bit distant from the highway, but not too far. The sites were nice and had great hookups. There was an asphalt slab that was nearly perfectly level (in site 4). Staff was very friendly; even though they had no record of our online purchase it was not a problem. Went down to 'Day Use' area by the lake and the kids were able to play in the water a little. Very quiet. May look for shadier parks in the future when in the area. Would stay again if in the area. We camped at Brantley Lake State Park in a Travel Trailer.
