Mammoth Mountain RV Park, Mammoth Lakes, California

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $52.00
Overall Rating:

We were here 3 nights. This is the only RV campground we use when in Mammoth. There are 2 sections of the park - one area is behind and to the right of the office; the sites are on pavement with no trees. The rest of the park is on dirt/gravel with plenty of shade with some spaces set aside for tent campers. The location is good - right across the street from the Visitors Center and easy drive to all the lakes, hiking trails, stores and shops. Restrooms were clean and accessible only by electronic passcard which eliminates non campers from using the facilities. WiFi is decent. We had challenges with being able to get good reception with cable TV connection. Out of the 80+ channels advertised we could only get 2 or 3 channels clearly. Be aware that the office will not check anyone in before 2:00 pm. And they are strict about that time. So if you show up early you'll have to cool your heels. If you show up between 2:00 and 3:00, expect a conga line of motorhomes and trailers in the driveway. We camped at Mammoth Mountain RV Park in a Motorhome.

Meeks Bay Resort, Meeks Bay, California

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for 3 nights. It appears the resort is in transition - the marina is now closed and it unknown whether it will be reinstated. The closure has left that portion of the campground rather sad looking. Our specific site was level and clean but no trees for shade. The location of the campground was very handy to Tahoe City, South Lake Tahoe City and Stateline. Access to a sandy beach and a beachside cafe was a short walk away. Unfortunately the restrooms were not in good shape. No matter what time of the day we tried to use the restrooms, they were in need of cleaning - toilet paper, water, and cooking utensils were all over the floors - toilet seats were pretty ugly. Cell service was weak. WiFi only accessible if we used our Verizon jetpack. We camped at Meeks Bay Resort in a Motorhome.

Auburn Gold Country RV Park, Auburn, California

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $59.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for 2 nights. The location was perfect for us. From here we were able to sight see in Nevada City, Grass Valley, and historic downtown Auburn which has a number of very interesting and fun museums. We were also very near a nice grocery store, Target and restaurants. The park was very clean and quiet. The site we had was a bit tight but we were able to manage. There are a number of what appeared to be permanent/long term campers. We camped at Auburn Gold Country RV Park in a Motorhome.

49er RV Ranch, Columbia, California

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $49.00
Overall Rating:

This was our second stay here. The location can't be beat - very close to Columbia State Historic Park and an easy drive to Sonora, Angels Camp and other points of interest. The hospitality was wonderful. Very organized and efficient check in - a staffer escorts you to your site and helps you park. Restrooms and the camp were very clean. On Friday there was a complimentary hot dog roast and s'mores around a community fire pit. In the morning, a hospitality hut offers coffee and assorted breakfast goodies. Around the perimeter appeared to be permanent/long term campers. Very quiet at night. So far our favorite place to stay in the area. We camped at 49er RV Ranch in a Motorhome.

Blackstone North RV Park, Fresno, California

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

As you drive down Blackstone Avenue, you're thinking that there is no way there is an RV park here as the 8 lane highway is teeming with strip malls, big box stores and car dealerships but look for the vertical green and white "RV Park" sign and you're there. Front office staff were awesome - they noticed we had a flat tire on our tow vehicle and filled it with air so we could limp to our site. They also made sure we had a spacious pull thru site to make it easier for us. The park is small, showing its age but was absolutely spotless. Most of the sites were quite large; many had shade. There appeared to be some permanent/long term campers. We were only here for one night but, in spite of the flat tire situation, was a positive experience. We camped at Blackstone North RV Park in a Motorhome.

Dockweiler RV Park, Playa del Rey, California

Date of Stay: May, 2012 - $75.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here two nights. This park is unique as it sits right on the beachfront. The sites are a little close together but the trade off is having the beach access just steps away. There are also fire rings on the beach that you can use until 10:00 pm. The campground was clean and check in was very easy. We will stay here again. We camped at Dockweiler RV Park in a Motorhome.

Dutcher Creek RV Park and Campground, Cloverdale, California

Date of Stay: May, 2012 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed at this park for 2 nights. Park management was very friendly and helpful. Our site was sufficient for a 29' RV and Jeep. There are nice shade trees and a view over the hills. The park has easy access to vineyards and Lake Sonoma. The restrooms and the rest of the grounds were very clean. We would stay here again. We camped at Dutcher Creek RV Park and Campground in a Motorhome.

Wine Country RV Park - Sonoma (Extended Stays Only), Rohnert Park, California

Date of Stay: May, 2012 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed at this park for 3 nights. The park manager was very friendly and helpful. The site (#112) was sufficient for our 29' RV and Jeep. The restrooms were very clean. The park has great proximity to Sonoma State University (less than 1 mile), Sonoma, and surrounding vineyards (about 30 minutes). The sites are pretty close together and there are a large number of extended stay campers at the park. We camped at Wine Country RV Park - Sonoma (Extended Stays Only) in a Motorhome.

French Camp RV Park Resort & Golf Course, Manteca, California

Date of Stay: May, 2012 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here one night. Our site (#115) was adequate for a 29' RV and Jeep. Wi-Fi access was available but the signal was very weak, making it useless. In the morning, we were informed that there was a plumbing problem so all the water to the RV sites was shut off. There was a cafe on site but it was so far from the sites that you needed to drive to it. There is a huge cemetery between the office/cafe/park entrance and the rest of the park. The restrooms and the rest of the park were very clean. There appear to be a large number of extended stay campers at the park. There is a golf course on premises. We camped at French Camp RV Park Resort & Golf Course in a Motorhome.

Bakersfield RV Resort, Bakersfield, California

Date of Stay: May, 2012 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here one night. Very impressed with park staff. A host leads you to your RV site and makes sure you can hook up and that everything works. This park is absolutely spotless - everywhere. There is a restaurant (great food) with a full bar on site that provides delivery service to your RV if needed. Our pull through (#118) was sufficient for 29' RV and Jeep. There is some faint traffic noise if you are a light sleeper. We would stay here again. We camped at Bakersfield RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Novato RV Park, Novato, California

Date of Stay: May, 2012 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed at this park one night. The office staff was very helpful and informative. Our RV site (#132) was adequate for a 29' motorhome and Jeep; however, the sites are very close together and the row of sites behind us (they appeared to be extended stay campers)had vehicles parked in front of their sites so getting into our space was a challenge. Even though we had a pull through, we ended up having to disconnect our tow Jeep to manuever our way in. We also noted that Wi-Fi access is an additional fee which we thought was excessive given the daily rate of $55.00. Proximity to Muir Woods and Sausalito were good, about 30 minutes. There was a deli on site that was open from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, but we did not have an opportunity to try it out. We camped at Novato RV Park in a Motorhome.

Salinas / Monterey KOA, Prunedale, California

Date of Stay: May, 2012 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed at this park one night. The park manager was very helpful and organized. We were assigned a pull through site (#129) which was sufficient for our 29' motorhome and Jeep. The water, sewer and electrical hookups all worked fine. The restrooms were very clean; although they were a bit of a hike from the campsite. The park's location to Monterey/Carmel was great; we were able to get to Monterey in 20 minutes. The one drawback which may be important to some campers is the park's proximity to the freeway; you can hear traffic noise throughout the day and night. We camped at Salinas / Monterey KOA in a Motorhome.
