L & D RV Park, Forsyth, Georgia

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

We were in a pull thru site with full hookups that was gravel and grass located directly behind the swimming pool. As mentioned by previous reviewers it is peaceful with animals close by; away from the highway by just over 2 miles. The problem we had was that the main road from I-75 has some low hanging branches on trees and will be worse when leaving. The road into the rv park is a one lane road and will be interesting if more than one unit coming or going together. The next problem is the exit leaving the pull thru sites like ours run right next to the fence where the horses are. There are very low hanging tree branches there and a motor home that left the day before us was in the trees as they pulled out. The sites are not real level but are workable. The best part here was the quiet and the dark. Just a little harder to get in and out than we realized it would be or we would probably have stayed elsewhere with our 38ft fifth wheel. We camped at L & D RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

RV Ranch of Keene, Keene, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2015 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Almost missed the entrance as it looks like a small strip mall and the office is at the left end as you enter. Once in the parking lot you have to back up and drive in front of the building to make a left into the park itself. The park sign is hidden behind some trees. The site we were given was 246, directly across from the swimming pool. The site was gravel and very level as well as wide enough for our slides. There was a half moon concrete patio and small grassy area and the site has a decorative fence. Not sure if we return we would want this site. By the way, it was in the adults only section which we were glad to find. Our site being across from the pool stayed wet constantly from pool run off drain. The other down side to this site is that is right in the main traffic flow and constant traffic in and out. There are a lot of permanent residents and some are friendly; others are not. One full time resident let her 2 small dogs run without a leash and then had to chase them through the park. Some traffic noise outside the park and a train now and then. For an overnight or short stop this park is okay. We camped at RV Ranch of Keene in a Fifth Wheel.

Ameristar Vicksburg RV Park, Vicksburg, Mississippi

Date of Stay: March, 2015 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

Our site 61 was on the back row which was great for our satellite even though they have cable. Paved roads and concrete pads and each site has a picnic table. They had a lot of rain so all sites were very muddy and our seemed to be the run off site so most of the water from upper sites ran through our site. Our site was short and we didn't have room for our truck after our 5th wheel was disconnected; parking crossways at the end of the site put us partially in the road. To get level we had to use 2 boards on the drivers side. Really long coaches with tow vehicles really had issues. We enjoyed our stay here. There are trains close by; they don't blow their horns much but from our site we could "feel" them as it shook our rig. Staff would get a 10 for friendliness. We camped at Ameristar Vicksburg RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Walmart is fairly close. We drove to the casino even with the shuttle service and used the valet. There is also a Kroger grocery store close.

Bonita Lakes RV Park , Meridian, Mississippi

Date of Stay: March, 2015 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Based on web site and Google Earth this is not the resort that we would have thought we would have seen when checking in. The park entrance sign is hidden and the train cannot be seen until you are already in the park. It is not as easy to enter as noted because of large logging trucks blocking the driveway. Time of the year dictated that we could not check in until they were in the office at 2:00 PM. On the good side; the check-in staff were extremely friendly and helpful as we requested a site change at the last minute. The site (#25) we were in was a full hookup concrete pad that was nice and wide as well as relatively level. There are 2 bath house/laundry facilities that we opted not to use because of the distance from our site. The road noise is awful and does not stop even late at night. Based on locations close by this will do for a night or may be two but not a resort for us. We camped at Bonita Lakes RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

The Woods RV Park and Campground LLC, Montgomery, Alabama

Date of Stay: March, 2015 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in site 303 which is a gravel relatively level spot with a board on the drivers side to get our RV level. There is a concrete patio pad with no table. Recently mowed and weeded left the pad a mess along with trash at the site; including a leftover pet scoop bag. The park is close to a noisy road, fire station, and hospital so there are a lot of sirens during different times of day and night. Trains once in a while. The laundry had 3 washers and 3 dryers; with one washer out of order. The outside of the park area was neglected and the floor of the laundry needed swept. There are a lot of sites that look to be used for contractors but quiet at the time we stayed. We camped at The Woods RV Park and Campground LLC in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

There are a lot of fast food places close. Some of the nicer restaurants close were not open while we were here and others were too far to travel. There is several places to get fuel, including diesel if needed.

Yogi Bear Jellystone Park, Bremen, Georgia

Date of Stay: March, 2015 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

As noted in previous reviews the park has tried to level some of the sites by building them up. We were lucky enough not to get one of these sites as the drop off on each side is almost a good foot and not packed down so they are very soft. Our site 63 was long enough for our RV and pick up truck and we needed a board on the drivers side to get the rig level. Although the site was a pull through, we had to back out of the site because the turn to exit would have been too tight for our rig. There was also a lot of doggy droppings from previous travelers that needed picked up. As we don't travel with dogs this was discouraging. The trash can for daily trash was always full and when mentioned to the campground it was because they were short handed. The trains didn't seem that bad. We camped at Yogi Bear Jellystone Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Rocky Comfort Plantation RV Park (Closed), Warrenton, Georgia

Date of Stay: March, 2015 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here 2 nights in a pull through site #3 right across from the owner and the pond/lake. Very peaceful setting. Owner extremely friendly and accommodating. Campground is off the beaten path about 13 miles from I-20 but very quiet and peaceful. Some of the trees could be trimmed back for higher rigs and we had to have one board on our door side to make the rig level. At highway 278 after you exit there is diesel fuel, a true value hardware and Piggly Wiggly (we had a need for all 3). We would stay here again if in the area. We camped at Rocky Comfort Plantation RV Park (Closed) in a Fifth Wheel.

Heritage RV Park, Augusta, Georgia

Date of Stay: November, 2013 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

We have stayed here before and we like this small park. The sites are back in and kind of tight to get into but very level and long with most of the services at the back of the site. Great paved patio with large picnic table at short term sites. Long term sites are grass and no picnic tables are offered. Since we were here last year, most of the mobile homes have been removed and the owner has created more RV sites. Some with paved patios and some not. Most full timers were very friendly. Park was quiet even with current road construction at this time. Great for over night or 2-3 days for seeing area. Very nice for the price. We camped at Heritage RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Stone Mountain Park Campground, Stone Mountain, Georgia

Date of Stay: November, 2013 - $57.00
Overall Rating:

Our back in site had a view of the water which was nice. Our site was nice and level and long. Our only issue was a neighboring rig was a family of 5 that were extremely noisy at all hours, especially early AM and late PM. We know this is a family campground and only stayed here because we had never been here before. Being off season we thought it might be quieter but it was not. The price was higher than we would have thought also for off season. As noted by a previous poster getting thru during peak season might be a chore as some sites are a lot shorter than the one we had and would create a parking and driving issue if the park was full. We would not stay here during the summer when all the activities would be open as it would probably be a mad house. We camped at Stone Mountain Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Clarksville RV Park & Campground, Clarksville, Tennessee

Date of Stay: November, 2013 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

Office staff very friendly. Pull thru site was long and level gravel. Plenty of space between sites. There are shade trees but certain times of the year they shed fruit that will trash your unit and vehicles. We had a mess after parking under trees. Nice peaceful campground. Would stay here again. We camped at Clarksville RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Marion Campground & RV Park, Marion, Illinois

Date of Stay: November, 2013 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This was an overnight stay. We were given a pull-through site at the back of the park. Lots of trees prevented us from pulling through, but there was a road on the other side of the site that made backing in much more feasible. Site was long enough and fairly level. Nice and quiet park. Several full time workers, all very nice and friendly. Sites kept nice. Would stay here again. We camped at Marion Campground & RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Cottonwoods RV Park, Columbia, Missouri

Date of Stay: November, 2013 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

We have stayed here before. We requested the larger pull-through site usually reserved for motor homes. We did this because most of the sites have small trees lined up as you are entering the site making it hard to enter the site easily. The longer sites have trees but are easier to maneuver. The problem with the site we had was that it was not very level and we did not plan to unhook as we were only staying overnight. To get level we needed to park toward the back of the site making it impossible to get to the services, water, electric, etc. We only stay here because of distance. Will be looking for another stop next time. We camped at Cottonwoods RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Worlds of Fun Village, Kansas City, Missouri

Date of Stay: November, 2013 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

These sites are close together and not all that level. The rear of our 5th wheel was high in the back and low in the front. We were here toward the end of their season and they only had one row of sites open because of closing. Some of the closed sites would have been nicer. As large as this campground is we were surprised that there were only four washers and four dryers, during peak season with lots of rigs that would be unacceptable. There is some road noise as the park is rather close to highway. We camped at Worlds of Fun Village in a Fifth Wheel.

Cahokia RV Parque, Cahokia, Illinois

Date of Stay: November, 2013 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This park is located on a very busy main road and intersects with another busy main road. This was a "planes, trains and automobiles" location. The site was rather tight and barely enough room to park our truck after disconnecting from our 5th wheel but rather level. We normally stay at another campground in the area but they were closed for the season. Staff was very friendly. We camped at Cahokia RV Parque in a Fifth Wheel.

North Star RV Park and Mobile Home Community, Valley Center, Kansas

Date of Stay: October, 2013 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

We've stayed here before a year ago. If you follow the rules of the owner you can have an extremely nice stay. He helps you get to your site and get lined up. Nice level and long sites. Peaceful and close to highway. Not too far from shopping and local areas. We enjoy staying here while visiting friends that live close by. We camped at North Star RV Park and Mobile Home Community in a Fifth Wheel.
