Cooperstown KOA, Richfield Springs, New York

Date of Stay: May, 2012 - $54.00
Overall Rating:

This was a great campground, with SUPER hosts. It's a bit off the beaten path, but that was actually kind of nice. My wife and I got to get in our morning runs on roads that had little to no traffic. I think we got passed by 1 car each morning. The kids loved the pool, bounce house, and Amish Ice Cream on Saturday night. We stayed during Memorial Day weekend, and though it was a full campsite, you wouldn't know it. The hosts were excellent, even to the point of coming over when we were leaving, asking which way we were heading, and telling us about a thunderstorm coming through, and offering for us to just hang out a bit if we like and wait till it passed. I can't say enough.. We WILL be going back. We camped at Cooperstown KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Chautauqua Lake KOA , Dewittville, New York

Date of Stay: October, 2011 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

We camped here on closing weekend. Many seasonal sites were closing up. Most of the sites were empty, but what a beautiful time of year. Hosts were super friendly, and kids enjoyed the playground area. Wish this campground was closer to where I worked, I would probably book a seasonal site here. Easy to access sites, quiet area, great sky view, though little shade where we were (not that it was needed in October). We camped at Chautauqua Lake KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Harpers Ferry / Civil War Battlefields KOA, Harpers Ferry, West Virginia

Date of Stay: September, 2011 - $75.00
Overall Rating:

It was a KOA. The kids play area and pool were nice. The spots were shaded, but difficult to get in to, and the hosts were unseen if you like that "family feel" of most KOA's. Of course the location is perfect for visiting Harpers Ferry (you can walk, we did), and even a short drive to Antietam. All in all, it was a "meh" campground. We would probably not stay here again. We camped at Harpers Ferry / Civil War Battlefields KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Darien Lakes State Park, Darien Center, New York

Date of Stay: July, 2011 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This was a great place to camp. It's got a wonderful pond to fish and swim in, Sites are large. There was power at each site, and it was shared water. The staff kept things under control because of nearby concert runover with younger adults staying in tents. Only two tents allowed per site, their site had 3, and in the middle of a thundershower, they were asked to remove one of the tents. For the price it can't be beat, and we will definitely go back. We camped at Darien Lakes State Park in a Travel Trailer.
