About Lead Dog

We live on the water (Puget Sound- Port Orchard Bay) so we enjoy spending summers at home. We leave for our Fall "walkabout" in late August and travel until the weather becomes an issue. We visit National Parks and also fish and dig fossils.

Silverline Resort, Winthrop, Washington

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

Plus=Beautiful setting. Very quiet during the week. Eagles Ospreys and Ducks. Good fishing for Trout.
minus= No pump out service for campers without full service. We cut our rez from 9 days to 6 because of this.
No safety bars in very slick showers.
Only pump out and garbage drop is at the top of a very steep hill as you leave.
WIFI is very weak. I couldn't even get my Emails. We camped at Silverline Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Gaylord KOA, Gaylord, Michigan

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

As with all older KOAs the spaces are a little narrow, however they are rapidly bringing on new deluxe sites with all the KOA amenities.

Very pleasant staff and a beautiful setting. We spent three days here to catch up on our washing (fantastic laundry) and to

recharge our personal batteries. Very quiet. We'll certainly return. We camped at Gaylord KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Woodland Park Campground, Grand Marais, Michigan

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Very friendly! Weakness: This is a first come first served park. No reservations. If you call ahead they can tell you if any spots are available.

Strengths: Beautiful park right on Lake Superior with a fantastic beach. Grand Marais is a quaint little Northeast looking town.

Cable TV and WiFi. We camped at Woodland Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Whispering Pines RV Park & Center, Cle Elum, Washington

Date of Stay: May, 2012 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

Good starting point for us. Very friendly people. They have an RV store with just about every item you'd need to replace. Propane available. You have a concrete patio at your site, but you set up on gravel. Good shade and privacy. Great walking path along a beautiful river. The only negative for us was the traffic sounds from I-90. We camped at Whispering Pines RV Park & Center in a Fifth Wheel.

Winchester RV Park and Campground, Republic, Washington

Date of Stay: May, 2012 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

Very friendly host and hostess. Everything was neat and very clean. We came for one night, stayed a full week. Beautifully manicured lawns on huge sites. Great gazebo with free usage of propane grills. Communal firepit with wood supplied by the host. Great base for exploring the area, fishing, hunting, fossil digging, relaxing. Very quiet. We'll be returning this September. We camped at Winchester RV Park and Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
