Cook Forest State Park, Cooksburg, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

We stopped here for one night while driving through the area. Difficult to find, narrow access roads, and address online leads to park office not "Ridge Campground". The showers had excessive pressure to the point that is hurt to be under water. Sites have electric hook up but no water. We camped at Cook Forest State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Kooser State Park, Somerset, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

This is a small campground with not many sites. This was my second trip to this campground and sadly not as enjoyable as the first time. The sites are very close together and open, but the the campground was not full midweek. We stopped here for one night while driving through and I think a truck rest stop would have had less road noise. Even small vehicle seem to be right outside the camper. The camp host were friendly. Biggest positive note, the dump station had easy access and a fresh water fill hose. We camped at Kooser State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Outdoor Adventure & Campground, Bethel, Maine

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This is a small campground that also serves as canoe rental, fishing, and gem digging site. The area was moderately quiet at night, but during the day the facility became very busy! The sites are nice and grassy but extremely close together. The benefit of sites being close together, camping here with family, the campers could be facing door to door. small sites, our awnings where almost touching. Staff is very friendly. A nice additional benefit is Burma Bridge over the river to quiet island. We camped at Outdoor Adventure & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Aroostook State Park, Presque Isle, Maine

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $16.00
Overall Rating:

This state park is a true dry camping experience. No water faucets near the road to fill your tanks and no threads on the faucets to connect a hose. The staff was very friendly and the camp host checked in with us as we were setting up to see if we needed anything. There is a kitchen for washing dishes. The campsites come in a variety of sizes, no problems finding a space for our 32' travel trailer. Campground is located at the base of mountain, great for a day hike.

The access road is a pretty steep gravel road. We had no problems but used 4 wheel drive as a precaution. We camped at Aroostook State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Many local sites. Traveling up from Houlton, look for the largest scale model of the solar system along the way.

Stony Brook Recreation and Camping, Hanover, Maine

Date of Stay: July, 2012 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in site #7. This was our 3rd trip to this campground. This area of the campground is the older section and offers nice shade and quiet sites. There is some difficulty with hookups since there is only one for two sites. The newer section of the campground is open in a field with big sites but no shade. There are some moderate hills into the site but have been doable for all campers we talked with. We camped at Stony Brook Recreation and Camping in a Travel Trailer.

Deer Farm Camps & Campground, Kingfield, Maine

Date of Stay: May, 2012 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

This is a nice remote campground. It is owned and operated by a very nice, older couple. Most of the camp maintenance was done by the seasonal campers. Camp facilities are good and clean, just missing some TLC, (paint, appearance qualities). There is a long hill climb on the road to this campground. A short walk to several mountain ponds. We look forward to staying here again. We camped at Deer Farm Camps & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Recompence Shore Campground, Freeport, Maine

Date of Stay: May, 2012 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very nice camping area. There are a variety of site options form ocean view, to wooded, or in a field. Our site was very level and easy to back into. The staff is friendly and accommodating. This campground is part of a working farm and has a barn that you are able to visit at any time. One down side is the dump site is a little tight to get into. Check out their website as they run several specials throughout the summer. We camped at Recompence Shore Campground in a Travel Trailer.
