Cody KOA

Cody, Wyoming

Date of Stay:

Great campground located in the cutest western town! Great museums in town, this is a great little town!

Date of Stay:

Camp staff couldn't be nicer, such really great folks! They have an amazing arena setup right as you pull in, made me almost want to get a horse, so great! Park is set on a hill in such a way to appreciate the Montana view, so beautiful! Camp works real hard at providing some grass outside the sites, there are areas outside the campground to take your pets off leash in a big open field. We don't do that sort of thing, but you could do it if you wanted to. We felt nothing but at home at 7th Ranch RV Camp. If we're ever in the area, we will definitely stop back here.

This KOA is literally right at the entrance of the Devils Tower. While up at the Devils Tower, I could see my rig through the trees. The check-in was easy, staff was super friendly. Site was nice, view was amazing. We had some vehicle issues and needed to run to an auto part store. Closest one we found was about 40 miles away and decided to drive at dusk. We passed hundreds of deer - traveling the road back to the interstate at dawn or dusk is not advised. Deer darted across the road multiple times, we had to drive extremely slow - didn't need more vehicle issues, but we made it safely. As we were exiting the next day, we followed out a flock of wild turkeys, two doe and two fawn. Very rural, very quiet. If we're ever in the area, we would stay here again.

Campground fills up most evenings. Office was pretty chaotic while we were trying to check in, multiple staff trying to check in multiple campers, phone ringing, making reservations, etc. Campground is central Wall, close to Wall Drug, very close to Badlands National Park and about an hour from Mount Rushmore. They have a nice big dog park to let your hounds run and play. Several times campers did not pick up after their dogs (shame on them!!) Campground is very close to train tracks and the first 3 nights we never heard a train go by - the 4th night made up for the previous 3 - :( 5:30 am, extended train whistle every 30-45 minutes there after. Not the campground's fault, but be aware when you stay there.

Stayed in this campground for a couple days waiting for our truck to get fixed. The camp hosts are real nice. Campground is super quiet, cell service is good, don't think wifi was usable. Dog park was plain, but fenced and dogs loved it. Pool was great, trails were awesome for a hike too. Campground is a mile north off the interstate. Well worth the drive, no road noise, great location to stop and decompress a couple of days. We will be staying here again if we're in the area.

Our truck broke while passing through Tallahassee so we got towed to Big Oak. We were there until their pre-paid customers were due to come in. We were here during the hurricane but with the predicted high winds, we took shelter at a motel. Laundry facility was great, staff was super nice. Would stay here again if needed a spot in Tallahassee.

We chose The Parkway RV Resort because the place we normally stay in Chico was full, but boy are we glad we found this place! This park is about 1/2 mile (west) from I-5. If you listen really close, you can hear the road noise, but you have to work at it. There aren't very many other units here with us, but all the units are in good shape. There are plenty of shade trees, but they could use some trimming to accommodate for taller units. We just happen to carry a tall ladder and tree trimmers with us, so we take care of our spots. Spots are gravel with grass around. It's not fancy, but it’s quiet. It seems to be safe. Park is easy in and out with easy access to I-5. There isn't a dog park, but there is plenty of grass to play in. There is a nice size pool, but I'm not sure if it is open yet. The gate is not locked, and the water is clear, but there is a sweeping device sitting in the bottom of the pool. We will come back to The Parkway RV Resort.

South Padre Island KOA is an ok RV park. The roads are paved, but spots are very large rock gravel. The sites were fairly level and were a little close together. In typical KOA fashion, rules are handed out at check in, but not enforced. Many kids running here and there and through our spot even with our big dogs outside with us. Kids out of control in the pool / spa area without any parental supervision. Animals tied out and left unattended. Several piles of dog poo not picked up by other campers. The campground has no means of security so people other than campers come and go as they please. There is a Pier 19 restaurant that shares the drive with the KOA. The dog park is on the other side of the sometimes busy road. I don't believe we'd stay here again.

I-35 RV Park

Waco, Texas

Date of Stay:

This is a really nice park. Right now I-35 is under construction and makes getting to and from this park a little difficult, but it's do-able even with a big rig. There is a little highway noise, but it's hardly noticeable. Park hosts are super friendly and they serve a free breakfast every morning. Park hosts have a couple of Texas size dogs that have the run of things. The dogs seem to be harmless, but they made me very nervous when we took our large German Shepherds outside. Since we were only staying overnight it was easy to keep an eye out. We would stay here again.

This was our 2nd trip. This is basically an RV parking lot with utilities placed throughout; however, don't let that deter you for giving them a look. Their dog park is one of the best. They offer a free self serve dog wash, too. The pool and jacuzzi are very nice but a little bit crowded. There is not a lot of shade, but what can you expect from a parking lot. The location in Las Vegas is good and easy in and out off I-15.

Nice, relatively quiet park with a great view of the mountains, close to shopping and dining. Roads between rows is fine for driving, but a little difficult for maneuvering a big rig. Be prepared to swing wide. There are "No Pets" signs in the lush grassy areas and the dog parks are sand, dirt and gravel. Our pets are family members, you charge us $2 a day per pet, please be more respectful of them. There are sprinklers that water the grass in the mornings. While I understand this, it would be helpful if there was a way to warn the people in the dog park that the sprinklers were getting ready to soak the dog park area. In times when the park is not busy, it would be nice if the office personnel could stagger campers throughout the park a little better than packing big rigs right next to each other leaving other parts of the park empty.

We've stayed at this park multiple times. This KOA has been better in the past, but was not very good this visit. When we arrived, they were doing some work on a water line. No one mentioned this to us until we hooked our utilities up and noticed the water coming out of our faucets was full of dirt and we got to flush both the water lines and then our trailer water lines. They have two dog parks. One dog park is hardly more than a 4' x 10' fenced area along a cliff that is very, very smelly. The other dog park is much larger and a picnic table and used to have a shade covering over the picnic area. This visit the shade covering was broken in multiple pieces and left along the fence. The park still works fine for playing ball with bigger dogs who need more room as long as you can keep them away from the debris. I'm not sure why, but the huge dumpster at the park was over flowing and the park wasn't half full. We were here 4 days and it was not emptied in the time we were here. It rained a significant amount while we were here. We took our growing puppy out to play in the puddles and had a great time with that despite the disgusted looks from the KOA staff. We were not sure what that was about, she was just playing in the water running in the creek and then back to our campsite / trailer. We have been here multiple times since August. We got mixed up on the check-out time by one hour (we thought it was noon and it was 11 a.m.) and were treated very rudely by KOA staff letting us know they were going to charge us another day if we didn't leave soon even though all of our utilities were unhooked, slide outs were in, truck was running hooked up to our trailer and I was loading dogs in the back door of the truck. It was our mistake, but it was very obvious we were leaving, we just mixed up the check-out time. I hope the management can get the park back to normal by summer time when we come back through.

Gulf Waters RV Resort is one of our favorite RV Resorts. The office staff are very nice and accommodating. The guides show you to your site and help you get backed in. The pool is heated to 85 degrees and spa to 95 degrees. Both the pool and the spa were sparkling clean and were enjoyable. The boardwalk down to the beach is wonderful and makes beach access so easy. Fellow campers are friendly and enjoy hosting dinners at their spots. Resort is very easy to access from the highway and easy to get in and out. We will definitely return to Gulf Waters.

We initially were only going to stay one night passing through Austin, but after checking into the park, decided to stay a few days more. The staff are super friendly. The sites are a little bit un-level, but manageable. The pool and spa are beautiful. The fellow campers are really nice. There are some permanent campers on one end of the park, but the sites were well kept. The dog park is the largest fenced play area we have ever enjoyed in all our travels! Our German Shepherds enjoyed frequent ball chasing frenzies in the fenced acre. The only downside to this park is it is about 15 miles off I-35. The roads and turns are fine even for a big rig, but it is a bit of a travel for a one night stay.

Date of Stay:

This is a nice park just off I-20. The park is all gravel, but spaces are plenty long and wide for big rigs. Other campers are nice and park is quiet. There is a nice, really big, un-fenced grass lot with the park you can play with your dog in. They were just finishing putting the fence around the pool when we stayed here. It will be really nice this summer.
