Calico Ghost Town & Campground, Yermo, California

Date of Stay: April, 2014 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

Nice place in the winter. Local geology is fascinating. Some nice hikes, but don't be tempted to poke around in the abandoned mines. We usually camp in the C-D-E areas which are electric only. Few of these are really level but we have leveling jacks and they cope with the slope easily. OHV trails are close and could be annoying if in heavy use. So far we've never been bothered. Restroom-showers are basic but clean. Watch the wind forecast, it can really blow here at times. We camped at Calico Ghost Town & Campground in a Motorhome.

Lost Hills RV Park (formerly Lost Hills Campground), Lost Hills, California

Date of Stay: April, 2014 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

Very convenient location near I-5 and relatively quiet. We missed this place while it was closed. New owners are very enthusiastic, helpful and making many improvements. Pool is open, dog park and most important, everything works. We stop her on most of our trips south. Nothing fancy but a good one night stop over. Can be a bit dusty. A better surface on the lot would be welcome. We camped at Lost Hills RV Park (formerly Lost Hills Campground) in a Motorhome.

Kingman KOA, Kingman, Arizona

Date of Stay: April, 2014 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This park is the most compatible mix of permanent, semi-permanent, and overnight tenants I've run across. It is a bit pricy, but it's easy to find and quiet, though not far from I-40. The camp store is well stocked with incidentals and RV related items, but there is also shopping nearby for for other items. The sites are close but shrubbery provides some privacy. Rate includes all taxes. We camped at Kingman KOA in a Motorhome.

Mountain Valley RV Park, Tehachapi, California

Date of Stay: March, 2012 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

Nice park with clean facilities and friendly staff. We took a rest day here and spent much of it watching gliders take off about 50 yards from our campsite. Nice stop on the way east before hitting the desert. We camped at Mountain Valley RV Park in a Motorhome.
