Overall it was a nice stay. My family usually go down to Joe Wheeler a few times a year just for weekend get away's. Park was same as usually nice roads and fairly level sites. Only problem we had this time was site C-17, it has a tree that is really close to the pad and it prevents you from having your awning out and with a camper 32ft or longer you can't get backed up far enough to prevent this. I voiced my displeasure with having to move to one of the camp host and to the front desk so maybe they can take this tree down so this site can be used by all campers. I am aware that the state is under a money crunch in the state park area but there are things that need to be updated. Such as electrical supplies. The one on the site that we moved to was just worn badly and caused a loose connection on my power supply that caused it to overheat the plug, sewage drains need to be updated or at least cleaned out around them so it wouldn't be so hard to get connected. I know this seems like a bad review but its really not. All in all it was a good trip as usually but could be improved.

Had another excellent stay at Honeycomb. Campground is always clean and staff is helpful. Nothing like being able to take 6 steps and casting in to Lake Guntersville and pulling out a bass. Still I wish they had sewage hookup but maybe that will come at some point in the future. That's the only reason for a 8 instead of 10. Its still a great weekend away. We camped in a 5th Wheel.

This was our 4th stay at Topsail and once again it delivered. Sites were level and most where shaded from the heat of the day. The beaches were perfect and water was clear as a bell. The trolley service from the campground to the beach helped a lot. Just wish they could come up with a way to drop you off a little closer to the beach. The board walk to the beach is a pretty good haul but its worth it to not have a real crowded beach to relax on. I would have given it a 10 but there was some construction on some of the sites that was noisy around 8am in the morning. They are tearing up some of the sites that the roots have busted the concrete. Hard to fuss about it when they are just taking care of the campground to make it the best stay possible with nice sites. All in all it was great trip and great stay.

We enjoyed our stay. This is kind of a local park for us but its was good for a quiet getaway, and we went to work from the campground. As mentioned, it is a quiet park and the scenery over Huntsville is something to see. Park is close to Huntsville so there are plenty of places to eat. Staff was friendly. I would have given it a 9 or 10 but the roads once you turn off of Governors drive are kind of narrow and go through some neighborhoods along the way. Also they need a better entrance sign. It is kind of hidden and to close to actual turn off spot so you can run by it before you know it (like I did). Luckily there was some more roads that led back to it without much trouble. All in all we had a good stay and we would stay here again for a short trip.

Enjoyed our stay at Desoto. We like the trails and the little river canyon area is always a treat. Its almost like a uncommercialized Gatlinburg. Try the Ice Cream shop on the corner. You can't miss it. Staff at campground was friendly and helpful when needed. Sites were large enough for our 5th wheel. I would have given it a ten but the roads once you turn by the big rock can get a little snaky and the edges need some grade work so the drop offs are not so extreme. Once you get in the campground there is plenty of room. We will camp here again.

We had a great stay at Up the Creek. Sites were level and well maintained. Quiet campground and out of the way from the busy Pigeon Forge. 3-4 miles from all the entertainment and then you can escape to the quietness of the campground. Wi-Fi was weak at times and a little difficult to connect.
