Holiday Trav-L-Park, Del Rio, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $9.00
Overall Rating:

We are in this park about 6 months out of the year and are quite happy here. The rate we pay is a monthly rate $270.00 plus electricity. It is one of the better parks in this area, it is an older park so there are some issues with the utilities but all you have to do is call the owner and he fixes problems immediately. Interior roads are paved, most every site has a tree and grass. If you are looking for lush landscaping and lots of trees this entire part of the country is probably not where you want to be, this is the desert, however the grounds of this park are maintained fairly well. We camped at Holiday Trav-L-Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The primary activities in this area involve boating and fishing on the Amistad Reservoir. Del Rio is a border crossing town, many people come here to go into Mexico for health care and dental services. Although we never cross the border we understand that there are good places to eat and shop and it seems safe enough to go there.

3 Fingers Campground, Forest City, Iowa

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Nice looking park with swimming/fishing lake and well maintained grounds. Nice clean aluminum picnic tables at every space. We didn't use bathroom facilities. Wifi is what wifi usually is in RV parks (not great), depends on where you are. The very best part of this park is that it has nice level cement pads, spaces are extra long with a very large grass covered yard between every space. We have been on the road for four months and have stayed in several parks, this is the best so far, it is easy to get in and out of and you won't need any leveling blocks. We camped at 3 Fingers Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Pony Express RV Park & Campgrounds, Maysville, Missouri

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very nice, quiet park and very well maintained, owner is very friendly. There are 2 nice big ponds on the property, I assume they have fish in them since we saw people fishing, not sure if they allow swimming in them. The restrooms and office/store are very clean, there are laundry facilities but we didn't go in there. Gravel roads and pads are well maintained, most sites appear fairly level, however some are not, so you need plenty of leveling blocks. That being said everything else we have seen of this whole state is either up hill or down hill. No cable, but antenna will get a few stations, satellite will work at some sites but some have lots of trees so it might not work. ATT cell service is fair. Don't know for sure but I don't think they have wifi. We camped here in a 45' 5th wheel. If ever in this area we would stay here again. We camped at Pony Express RV Park & Campgrounds in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

This park is out in the country and not close to much major shopping, there is a Walmart about 15 miles away, and Missouri Star Quilt Co is about 30 miles.

Spring Creek Marina & RV Park, San Angelo, Texas

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

This park is very well maintained, the staff are friendly and helpful. Park is located on shores of a small lake and at this time of the year it is very peaceful, we've never stayed in the summer so can't say what it's like then This is one of the nicest parks we've ever stayed in. We stayed for a week. Park has two sections the spaces in the older section aren't quite as large as the new section but appear to be adequate if you don't have a hugh RV. We stayed on the newer side our trailer is 45 ft and there was plenty of room for it and our vehicle with lots of room between us and the rv's on either side and there were several sites larger than ours. We camped at Spring Creek Marina & RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

River Ranch R V Park, Ruidoso Downs, New Mexico

Date of Stay: August, 2014 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

The owners and manager are friendly but that is the only good thing I can say. The park is not maintained very well, the rest rooms and laundry room was not clean and in 2 months the grass was mowed once. They advertise wifi but it rarely works (probably because at least 1 permanent resident watches netflix movies all the time). Another problem in this park is that your cell phones won't work. They have a number of permanent rv's and some mobile homes and some are pretty junky. The worst problem is that nearly ever tenant has from 1 to 5 dogs consequently there is rarely a time that there isn't a dog barking and they are frequently allowed to run loose so (you guessed it) there is dog poop and I have never seen anybody picking up after their dog. We are not likely to come back. We camped at River Ranch R V Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Wilson's Riverfront RV Park, Asheville, North Carolina

Date of Stay: June, 2012 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

Rate is Passport America. Park looks nice. I don't know about owners/workers we never saw them. We put our money in a locked box and stayed 2 days and then left. If you desire a peaceful, quite setting this is not the place. There is an extremely busy road right above the campground. The noise factor is the only reason that I gave a poor review. if it is not an issue then you might be happy staying here. We camped at Wilson's Riverfront RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Frog City RV Park, Duson, Louisiana

Date of Stay: May, 2012 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

Park was well kept, bathrooms were spotless and the employees were friendly and helpful. This park is just off the interstate highway and right across from a truck stop so it was a little noisy. So not a really good park for resting and relaxing, but if you are just passing through and need a spot for the night it is easily accessable and would work very well for that. We camped at Frog City RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Lakeview Park and Beach, Eunice, Louisiana

Date of Stay: May, 2012 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Owners are working on the park and there are some areas that still need work, the restrooms and showers were clean but need some work, otherwise I couldn't say anything bad about it. The comment by other guests that it is a party place and loud are sort of true but only on the weekends and they do have rules regarding the quite hours and everyone seemed to abide by the rules. The thing to understand about this park is that most of the people staying there on the weekends live in or near that community and they all seem to know each other and they gather there on the weekend. We did not find them offensive, quite the contrary, they were all very friendly. If you are a "stuffed shirt" this might not be the place for you though. We were there nearly two weeks and on the weekdays we were one of only two or three campers in the park with the exception of long term campers that are in a different section of the park. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and will stay here again if we are ever in the area again. We camped at Lakeview Park and Beach in a Fifth Wheel.

On The Beach RV Park, Port Aransas, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2012 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

I am not exactly sure about the nightly rate but believe it was around $35.00. This park was reasonably clean, staff was ok, but it was grossly overcrowded. There was barely 10 feet between us and the trailer next to us, their sewer connection was very close to us, as ours was to the guy on the other side. The end of our trailer stuck out in the very narrow road as did some others. If we hadn't gotten here before most of the other campers I don't believe we would have ever been able to get into the space. But it was just a sand dune away from the ocean and about 1/2 to 3/4 miles away from Sand Fest Activities. We are not likely to ever stay here again. We camped at On The Beach RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
